Carrie was sooo kidding herself here. If he dumped this young hot chick he in fact chose over her and ask her to get back with him she would jump at him so fast he couldn't even blink. She simply created the explanation for herself so it wouldn't hurt that much
That's exactly what a lot of people do. They either lie to themselves making the other the bad guy, wallow and read into everything to make themselves the bad guy, or have a healthy grieving process.
This is literally the only episode I've watched of the show. (I was surfing channels and stayed because of the movie references) Yesterday I saw posts on how Carrie was upset about Big leaving his ex-wife a million dollars and my thoughts went back to this episode along with a rather scathing sentiment: Carrie Bradshaw must have been full of herself to believe that she was in the same league as Katie Morosky. Or course, perhaps it's an unfair feeling to have, I don't watch the show after all.
She has a point though. He dated Carrie, even when he had access to a thousand young hot women, so he had to be attracted to her. That was never the issue. It was more about conflicting personalities and goals. Carrie is saying that if she was more complacent and "easier" for him to deal with, he might have chosen her. Sounds plausible to me.
@@fayepatrice1672 she was also needy and created drama all the time. They were a mess. He was distant, she pushed too hard and wouldn’t never let the little things go. This is just her convincing herself that she wasn’t the problem. “It wasn’t that Big couldn’t handle my bs anymore. It’s that I was too free and independent and cool for him to handle so he ran off to someone who was way more boring than me. I’m amazing and better and everyone knows it.”
"Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed"... Seriously Carrie? You were hoping he would tame you, you were begging he tame you and when he didn't, you "accidentally" went to his wedding to catch him and ask why he didn't tame you when you were so ready to be tamed. This, my friends, is a perfect example for cognitive dissonance

I was on Carrie’s side until she cheated on Aiden with Big. It was at that point that I didn’t buy all her “I’m looking for love.” BS. SITC really promoted toxic unstable relationships. It was an entertaining series for many reasons, but those female characters were not good examples of women looking for mature stable relationships.
He never really loved her and she was too much into him, also they r from different social levels, for some ppl that means a lot. So it's nothing about being wild, what's wild in Carry? She's always forgiving, waiting him, ready to run as soon as he gives a sign and say "wanna have fun, I'm single again". She's also not complicated character, maybe a bit too dramatic😅, but nothing extra, so it's not like he couldn't understand her, he just didn't want to. But that's not nice truth, so she's choosing to believe in different ideas, kind of psychological protection. That's just not meant to be, no love, no good connection, only romance mostly in her imagination, and immature behaviour. He never thought about her serious and she created whole story in her head. But for series romantic line this dialog is much more matching, of course 😀 just not trustworthy for me.
A guy that was "into" would have NEVER taken so many chances at losing her to 1, 2, 3 other eligible men. Lets not count the flings between Aiden, Aiden, Berger, and The Russian.
Remember, in the very beginning, when they first met, Big was saying, that yes, there are a lot of beautiful women out there, but you just want to be with the one that makes you laugh. From that point on, I knew they would end up together.
I think the answer is that Big was never really into Carrie. She was his friends with benefits thing, a fling. There were many signs early on that he was not into her, but she ignored them all. For example, when he took her to a Chinese restaurant, where not so many people would see him with her, or the fact that he did not stop dating other women, after starting seeing her.
@@MissTia777 Their marriage is a pure fantasy. That is why their relationship is criticized by the critics as it shows an unrealistic scenario and projects unrealistic expectations for viewers. It is that women will think that a man, who does not value them, will magically change their behavior and marry them. They just need to wait long enough (actually for years) and forgive a man everything. In real life, Carrie and Big would have never ended up together.
@@MissTia777 I understand your point. The thing is that in the first seasons the writers showed quite realistic character dynamics and struggles in their relationship, while the happy ending was forced and unnatural. There were no back story or character development done to make their marriage look less unrealistic and believable.

I just now realised how incredibly creepy Carrie is. She is wearing a white dress. I mean, I remembered it already, but I didn't think about the meaning. We don't make gala engagement celebrations in my country, but I've seen a lot of wedding portals, all suggesting that the future bride should be wearing a white cocktail dress. Someone as fashion-aware as Carrie, was very aware not only of the symbolism, but also of the fact Natasha might be wearing the exact same dress. And while Natasha is shown waiting in the car, Carrie is touching him! I mean, how creepy would it be if the genders were reversed! If the bride's ex boyfriend showed up uninvited to her engagement party, asking her questions about their relationship, touching her... her fiance would probably hit him in the next scene! And here we are supposed to root for Carrie!
You know that the character doesn’t choose the symbolism but the writers? They chose to portray her as the jilted bride, to drive the message home to the viewer. It was subtle enough, she didn’t show up in a long gown and a veil lol.
I always thought the same. To Big, Carrie was a "good-time girl" but not wife material. I remember that episode where he didn't even want to introduce her to his friends
@@Honeybees1005 Oh, wow, I'd forgotten about that one. And didn't he introduce her as a "friend" or something like that? He gave no indication that they were dating.

tamed doesnt always mean monogomy or straighten up...carrie is crazy and he couldnt keep up with her thats all so he married someone more tame is what shes trying to say
"I don't know, it just got so hard"- understatement of the year. She just HAD to stop & stare and he just HAD to go over to her, probably afraid that she would create a scene. And then Carrie has to get up in his face while Natasha watches her fixing his hair while staring into his eyes. Oh yeah she's a real prize, that one.

Funny how this appeared on my queue just now. 2 days ago, as I was decluttering my storage unit, I found an essay I did for psychology (13 years ago), based on healthy and unhealthy relationships. I used Big and Carrie as the unhealthy example, and realized how I’ve put myself in her similar position for most of my life when it came to my romantic relationships. I recently broke free from romantically attaching myself to a man who did me to wrong and this came up at the right time. Thank you for the throw back. 🙏
Oh my god..I don't understand why this comment section is full of hate towards these two. This show is all about exploring the different types of relationships between people and mostly men and women..I think many can't really understand this show. It isn't about women who find the perfect guy or perfect relationship. It is about people, who find love in very different ways. In real life it is just like that. Nobody is perfect, not everybody is looking for a stable relationship, not everybody makes the right decisions. In love not everything makes sense. So don't judge them so harshly. They were just two confused, complicated and even immature people, who made a lot of mistakes just like all of us. Be open-minded and accept that not everyone can end up in a perfect relationship with the perfect partner.
Deep down Big preferred Carrie but he married Natasha cause she is more model looking and therefore a "status symbol" for him. I live in Kensington in London and the same thing goes on even today - rich men marry model looking, tall and skinny women because they are seen as the ultimate accessory - and then often cheat on them behind their backs - exactly like Big did!!!
Tell me about it !! The recent scandal in India being, this really rich dude who was not even a good actor, married a Miss World who is also an incredible actress , effectively ended her career , got a child with her , then cheated on her with the most average of women while she is stuck. She can't divorce yet because divorce is a huge taboo here , more so than the affair . Btw, that dude's father was the exact same , married the most respectable woman and cheated with this really really hot actress . 🌚🌚. This kind of thing is so incredibly commonplace .🤷
I know this does not not have to do anything with this video, but i have a question! Does anyone have moments they hate carrie? Like the moment she brought mr big BIG MAC before he was about to move to frace and stared yelling at him when he was honest and said somenthing like,, I would not like you to move with me and changing your life and depend on this relationship in case somenthing happens?
I hated her when she needed money for her apartment and came at Charlotte for not offering her any. Especially when she realized she spent tens of thousands of dollars on shoes. She could have owned her apartment for that. She likes to imagine that she's free spirited and unique, but she's a total conformist drama queen. I still like the show though, lol.
Yes, I hated her. She was pushing him to be into her like she was him. She never took the hint. She was just desperate. I watch the show now and she was awful. I mean, the way she did Aiden? he didn't deserve that.
This scene always kills me. I was the Carrie in this scenerio. Although I never got to ask why it wasn't me. Part of me feels like the answer is the same.
I’ve been the “Carrie” in this situation too….but for me, it was easier to just accept that I wasn’t “the one” & that he was in love with someone else. I mentally wished him well and left it there. He’s such a good guy so I figured his fiancé must be really special and I want that for him. He was always too good for me. He and I are still friends. We don’t hang out because that wouldn’t feel right, but when I run into him from time to time, we always laugh a lot, so it’s all good. It’s ok to not be the one for someone. Obviously, I know I can’t rely on other people’s opinion of me for that, but it’s forced me to think about the way I look at the world and trust and accepting good things again. I learned that if I didn’t accept other people and other situations into my life, I would forever be in a place of sadness because I wasn’t moving on. Lockdown was a huge savour also, because I didn’t need to worry about bumping into him in the street, and that made me think about him a lot less. It was a really nice freedom. I wish you all the best, and If you need to chat, you can find me back here ❤️
The only way I can rationalize their love story is that Big loved Carrie a lot and because of his past was too scared to commit to somebody who made him feel so much. The bigger the Love, the bigger the potential hurt. Big married Natasha because she was beautiful and in his league and it just made sense. No deep feelings, no deep anxiety about being hurt. And somehow Carrie knew that and that’s why she couldn’t let go. Even though she really should’ve. In the end their match was what was best for the characters. Carrie didn’t want a calm, family life. She wants drama and the high life. And Big overcame his fear of commitment. It may make viewers frustrated but when you look at it from the viewpoint of the characters and what the story needed, then it was good that they had a happy ending.
Big wasn’t some 20 year old kid in the dating scene. He was a 40+ successful businessman who had been married before. He knew exactly what he wanted and didn’t want.
@mystaminacantakethis If you've been working on personal growth and development in your 20s and 30s, then yeah, in your 40s and beyond, you know who you are and what you want. You've already "found yourself," resolved the majority of your personal hurts, corrected most of your destructive beliefs and behaviors, and moved from dramatic navel-gazing onto higher-level and more selfless problems. Big should be in that phase of life.
Honestly this was how it should have ended. Carrie literally walked away the winner. She stepped into another level of power in this moment so it was so disappointing that she goes back to him.
@@red2977 She was the winner in the sense that she finally broke a negative cycle and let him go. Victory isn't all about winning against someone else. It's about winning against your old self and making better choices. But since she went back to Big later, that win was short lived 🙃
This is so touching and moving the music plus the acting. Love it think a lot of us can relate to this scene and Carrie looks beautiful her dress and her hair are stunning
I do understand where Carrie is coming from. If i were in her situation, I would ask the same question to my ex (not on his engagement party day in front of his fiancé though). It doesn’t matter what his answer is. I would just need to know to make it end and move on. She should’ve end it there and moved on if she wanted to have a happy life instead of more harmful drama.

No hate, but this scene is where Carrie LOOKED HER BEST. I’ve been enchanted by her in this scene since I was like 10. She’s fierce.
And she’s right
"Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed"... Seriously Carrie? You were hoping he would tame you, you were begging he tame you and when he didn't, you "accidentally" went to his wedding to catch him and ask why he didn't tame you when you were so ready to be tamed.

The heart wants what the heart wants

They married
@@MissTia777 Their marriage is a pure fantasy. That is why their relationship is criticized by the critics as it shows an unrealistic scenario and projects unrealistic expectations for viewers. It is that women will think that a man, who does not value them, will magically change their behavior and marry them. They just need to wait long enough (actually for years) and forgive a man everything. In real life, Carrie and Big would have never ended up together.
@@grgn7786 The whole show is fantasy. But it with all the roller coaster episodes between them, they still got married!
@@MissTia777 I understand your point. The thing is that in the first seasons the writers showed quite realistic character dynamics and struggles in their relationship, while the happy ending was forced and unnatural. There were no back story or character development done to make their marriage look less unrealistic and believable.
@@MissTia777 even after their marriage, Big insisted on living apart from Carrie 🌚. And remember the ' secretary ' who was crying loudly when Big died ?? Yeah ...🌚🌚

I agree.

Deep down Big preferred Carrie but he married Natasha cause she is more model looking and therefore a "status symbol" for him.

@mystaminacantakethis If you've been working on personal growth and development in your 20s and 30s, then yeah, in your 40s and beyond, you know who you are and what you want.
