      Not really, do you really think that she would have been against her having an abortion. If anything she was probably relieved that she was getting an abortion. Her approach the subject was disturbing as if to suggest that getting an abortion was just a routine procedure. Her treatment of Miranda when she finally has Brady is not indicative of a reasonable or rational friend.

    I absolutely understand why Charlotte was emotional. But she was a shitty friend here. "How can you do this to me?" Had she tried, she couldn't have been more selfish and egotistical. It was Miranda's body, career and life that were in the balance. Hence, Miranda's choice. She didn't have to "consider" having a baby because her friend couldn't get pregnant.
    And of course, Samantha is still the best in the scene. Love her

      @idkbrosstudios8446 3 года назад +154

      although I agree, give Charlotte a little of a break. She was distraught and sadden. It may not mean much to you, but for some women having a child is vital. That’s all Charlotte ever wanted. And to know that she couldn’t have a baby but Miranda could and she doesn’t even want it is a slap in the face to her probably. Should she have been more considerate, yes, but her feelings are understandable. Even Miranda lowkey understood her and forgave her. I wouldn’t call her selfish or egoistical. Just a little tone deaf to the situation at hand. She was just projecting onto Miranda.
      Edit: again I’m not saying Charlotte was right. She was the opposite, but I’ve seen many clips of this scene on YT and everybody always goes off on her without trying to understand her mentality. She’s still human for fuck sake.

      When I first saw this scene, I thought Charlotte would suggest her adopting Miranda's baby instead of storming off. I guess this fit the her character though, because she sort of looked down on the others for one reason or another. She probably felt insulted and took it out on Miranda.

    • @potocatepetl
      @potocatepetl Год назад +25

      @@jaynehogue2459 no, she didn't have the right! It was not Miranda's fault or any other's woman fault that her body wasn't able to get pregant! She was obsessed her entire life with something. First with men, then with the "perfect" wedding, then with having children, then with portraying the "perfect" family. She was never happy with wat she had, but with an idea that she built in her head when she was 5. And emotionally, she stayed at 5! She was the worst of them all!

    • @JoelWalker56
      @JoelWalker56 10 месяцев назад +5

      @@potocatepetlI am don’t have kids myself, but I know my mom had a VERY hard time getting pregnant with my siblings and I. She couldn’t get pregnant (will not go on to details why), and I know that especially her, she went through a really hard time, to the point that she was depressed. Especially like in this situation, my mom’s friends were already getting married and having kids too easily at the same time, so it was even harder to be around people like that. Maybe it was all or mostly in her head, but she felt left out or like she was staying behind. So even if it’s no one’s fault, you do feel bad about yourself in these situations. Both Charlotte and Miranda were right here. Charlotte has the right to feel like this. She didn’t blame Miranda really and was just very emotional about the situation. At the end of this episode, even though she was against Miranda’s decision, she still supported her and tried to comfort her. People have several reactions to situations, and that is okay. Life does not come with a manual.

      But that's what I love about the show! It's realistic. We are not all perfect saints who do the right thing all day every day. And neither are any of our friends. Sometimes we are selfish. Sometimes we fight. These women aren't role models, they're relatable characters, even if you can't relate to every single specific thing they do. I have a friend who avoided me for a little while during my pregnancy because I was 40 when I got pregnant (on purpose, during the first month my husband and I tried) and she was just jealous beyond belief and felt it wasn't "Fair" that she couldn't get pregnant at all at 40 and I was pregnant immediately. She knew it was crappy to avoid me but she couldn't help it. We're cool now and she hangs out with me and my son all the time, but jealousy and friendship and real life are messy sometimes.

      My sister acted like that when she was trying to have a baby. It took her three years and a few miscarriages. Some women dream of the ring, the wedding, the marriage and the baby and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!! It’s the way of life for many. But I have watched over the years, young girls who couldn’t and wouldn’t look after their kids get pregnant continually, women who had only been dating the guy for a few months and bam pregnant! Women who had a one night stand.. bam pregnant! And then I see women who in their eyes did everything right, waited, didn’t start trying until after marriage etc and they struggled like no tomorrow. It truly isn’t fair. Charlotte as wrong as she was, her reaction was of many many women could relate to 100%

    Charlotte is sooo selfish and narcissistic... She is that friend that doesn't like reality, nor dealing with reality if is not favorable to her... Very superficial... I adore how, her then, mother-in-law "Bunny" would get her together... Charlotte didn't deserve Tray, nor subsequent, Harry, for that matter...
    Carrie was a horrible friend also... She was emotionally exhausting... Carrie did not take kindly to any criticism about various choices she made... However, she expected her friends to be there regardless... Carrie always found ways, to always present herself as the victim within everything... She cheated on Aidan with Big, and then she acted like Aidan was suppose to automatically forgive her and take her back... Just for her to later marry Big and run into Aidan, and eventually kiss him in the SATC-2 movie...
    Miranda is the sarcastic-reality, negative, super control freak, that is insecure friend... Having the baby slowly brought Steve and her together within their ongoing insecurities with each other... Steve was an insecure wimp, that found his strength with one testicle... Miranda is definitely a devoted friend; though her form of showing so is unique...
    Samantha is the most unconditional, loyal, real, and supportive friend of the group... She is the strongest and doesn't allow the other's judgment to label her... She is firm and grounded in who she is, as she makes no apologies... Though reckless at times, she holds her own firmly, and with style/finesse...

    I really hated that Miranda went through with her pregnancy. I feel like back in those days there weren't enough instances of abortions shown on TV. It's an essential procedure and I think it would have benefited her career in the long run to be childfree. The fact that she says later on that 'I don't like any other kids but my own' shows that she doesn't have the most well rounded maternal instincts. Also I know Charlotte is hurting but she was a major asshole in this episode. This whole storyline, she was insufferable. I know infertility can be hard emotionally but damn...sometimes Charlotte acted like someone told her she had cancer

      I totally agree. Abortion is treated as a taboo subject. When one out of four women has one in her lifetime, abortion should be discussed much more openly, particularly the fact that it is a totally acceptable option. Women shouldn't be made to feel guilty or selfish for having them. Her body, her choice.

      But she actually went to the abortion clinic though, she only changed her mind at the very last minute so she obviously wanted her baby otherwise she would have just done it.
