I understand Charlotte's upset, but she's not a good friend here. Her struggle with fertility does not give her the right to judge anyone for choosing not to have children. I'm glad Miranda chose to keep the baby and that Charlotte eventually ended up having children, but I really hate Charlotte in this scene.

Yes, it is understandable to be upset when you struggle with fertility issues, but it doesn't make it okay to diminish other peoples' struggle and/or celebrations. I really couldn’t stand Charlotte in this scene. I get being emotional (although Charlotte was always annoying), but here she’s just being a terrible friend. Everything her friends did was always about her. Carrie and Big’s affair? “I’m getting married. How would you feel if someone did that to me?” Miranda gets pregnant? “How could you do this to me?” Honest, Miranda and Samantha were the only decent people in this series. Everyone else is a histrionic-prone pain in the ass or an emotionally unintelligent block of wood.
As someone who suffers from infertility I agree her “ How could you do this to me,” was was over the line and rude. But I relate so much to her emotions. Hearing recently a friend of mine, who never wanted kids, was pregnant made me feel such anger and jealousy, even though I knew it was wrong I couldnt help how I felt. I, obviously, never let her know I was feeling this way though. When you hear stuff like this you feel like a broken worthless human being whose body cant even do the most natural thing. Its an indescribable sense of being the most worthless human being on the planet. You question why you were even born female if you cant have children. At first we were out and feel betrayed by the person who gets pregnant easily. But then later we realize that it’s not them we’re angry at, it’s ourselves. Samantha is awesome. Too many people focused on her sexual appetite. So, she liked sex, she didn't want a serious relationship before Smith? So what? Her body. Her life. Samantha is awesome.
I wasn't expecting to have to scroll this far to find a comment like that. Charlotte was definitely being shitty. If she'd been trying for five years I might have understood, but five months is normal, and Miranda had a real problem.
Samantha is always the most non-judgemental, kind, supportive friend, and they’re horrible to her. They constantly shame her for everything and everyone she does lol
That's why I dislike the character of Charlotte so much, the way she says to Miranda: how can you do this to me? it just shows how selfish she is! Yes, I understand, you are emotional, but you are not the center of the universe
I used to think Charlotte was so out of line here, I mean a part of me still does but apart of me also completely understands her reaction. Some women dream of the ring, the wedding, the marriage and the baby and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!! It’s the way of life for many. But I have watched over the years, young girls who couldn’t and wouldn’t look after their kids get pregnant continually, women who had only been dating the guy for a few months and bam pregnant! Women who had a one night stand.. bam pregnant! And then I see women who in their eyes did everything right, waited, didn’t start trying until after marriage etc and they struggled like no tomorrow. It truly isn’t fair. Charlotte as wrong as she was, her reaction was of many many women could relate to 100%
That is why the writing was so brilliant. Even men can relate to the dilemna. You know Charlotte is wrong. But you cant blame her. their acting in SATC is really great.
Literally going through it right now. Raised to be a good, Catholic girl. Got the career, got married and trying for over a year meanwhile, I knew so many that just randomly got pregnant while dating 6 months and then they get married years later. Or young women who don’t intend to but do. So true what you said there
Charlotte is not wrong. Her reaction is very normal.especially for a couple that struggles to have a baby. In fact, if she conceived most likely she and Trey would not have divorced.
@@BeautifulDreamerK I hope you make your dream come true. I understand, life is ironic like that. Me and my husband are childfree, married for 12 years, we are very happy but I know most couples want to have a child and try very hard. I wish for you lots of happyness ❤
I thought Charlotte was too obsessive over having a baby maybe if she would have relaxed more and worked instead of focusing all her energy on it she probably would have gotten pregnant.
Absolutely! Friends of my parents tried for years to have a baby, had all the medical checks, no problems found but - nothing. Ultimately, they decided to accept it's not meant to be and spent some of their baby savings on the holiday of a lifetime. When they got back Meg kept feeling nauseous & nothing stopped it so she went to the doctor: Morning sickness, twins!
Although "just relax and you'll get pregnant" comes from a good place it actually feels insulting to people that are really trying or having difficulty conceiving

@@kva5751I was neighbors with 6 women that died in childbirth. They left toddler orphans behind, widowers, parents and friends. I can still rember them crying next to their coffins. As long as that can happen, with all our technology, the choice to keep a fetus or not should be the pregnant woman's , because she is risking her life and health, not the others. It's easy to judge but when tragedy strikes, the pregnant woman and her loved ones suffer the most and the rest of the people will get on with their lives...
You'd think that would be an easy concept to accept- my body, my choice. I don't understand how people, especially women, can be so judgmental about what other women do with their own bodies and lives.
Charlotte is sooo selfish and narcissistic... She is that friend that doesn't like reality, nor dealing with reality if is not favorable to her... Very superficial... I adore how, her then, mother-in-law "Bunny" would get her together... Charlotte didn't deserve Tray, nor subsequent, Harry, for that matter... Carrie was a horrible friend also... She was emotionally exhausting... Carrie did not take kindly to any criticism about various choices she made... However, she expected her friends to be there regardless... Carrie always found ways, to always present herself as the victim within everything... She cheated on Aidan with Big, and then she acted like Aidan was suppose to automatically forgive her and take her back... Just for her to later marry Big and run into Aidan, and eventually kiss him in the SATC-2 movie... Miranda is the sarcastic-reality, negative, super control freak, that is insecure friend... Having the baby slowly brought Steve and her together within their ongoing insecurities with each other... Steve was an insecure wimp, that found his strength with one testicle... Miranda is definitely a devoted friend; though her form of showing so is unique... Samantha is the most unconditional, loyal, real, and supportive friend of the group... She is the strongest and doesn't allow the other's judgment to label her... She is firm and grounded in who she is, as she makes no apologies... Though reckless at times, she holds her own firmly, and with style/finesse...

It's so true though,so many women get accidentally pregnant in the worst possible timing or manner, yet on the other side so many others can't get there working on it..Life is comedically unfair
There is no such thing as getting pregnant by accident. All elective abortions are from people who willingly had sex. Doing the one thing you know that could lead to pregnancy is not an accident. You just chose Weiner over not having a kid. Not an accident.
that comment about 35 is not accurate. women can be fertile to their mid 40s..though best not to rely on that.mind you now with help they can have babies in their fifties..of course they get called selfish but women live longer and why should men get all the fertility breaks
Someone needs to sit Charlotte down and explain to her that the stress and pressure she is putting on herself will make her body NOT work!! Not to mention the guy she's with....our bodies _know._

I know people think Charlotte was in the wrong here but try to understand that when a woman wants to be a mother so badly. She tries and it doesn’t happen, you feel helpless and such a failure. It’s an emotional drain so when she sees a person who gets pregnant so easily and then doesn’t want to keep it, it can have a traumatic effect.
She was still in the wrong. Her being emotional is an explanation but not an excuse for how she treated her friend here. It’s nobody’s fault that she couldn’t get pregnant. Not hers but also not her friends fault, obviously

I see, having any semblance of a moral compass is considered judgmental and closed minded. But spreading you legs for practically anybody without any consideration of the consequences is the ideal way of life.
I really hated that Miranda went through with her pregnancy. I feel like back in those days there weren't enough instances of abortions shown on TV. It's an essential procedure and I think it would have benefited her career in the long run to be childfree. The fact that she says later on that 'I don't like any other kids but my own' shows that she doesn't have the most well rounded maternal instincts. Also I know Charlotte is hurting but she was a major asshole in this episode. This whole storyline, she was insufferable. I know infertility can be hard emotionally but damn...sometimes Charlotte acted like someone told her she had cancer
I totally agree. Abortion is treated as a taboo subject. When one out of four women has one in her lifetime, abortion should be discussed much more openly, particularly the fact that it is a totally acceptable option. Women shouldn't be made to feel guilty or selfish for having them. Her body, her choice.
But she actually went to the abortion clinic though, she only changed her mind at the very last minute so she obviously wanted her baby otherwise she would have just done it.

Ah, I know people with tied tubes and vasectomies that managed to conceive and people with no health issues that couldn't, for some unknown reason. The ones with vasectomies even did paternity tests that confirmed that the kids were theirs.
Charlotte and Samantha enacted this scene to perfection. Kristin Davis and Kim Cattral are such fine actors.
It really sucks to watch your friends have baby after baby when you’re stuck trying to make things happen for yourself.
@@c.2538 I agree, but it still doesn't make it okay to shame someone for getting pregnant or having an abortion.

Then the understanding nod. 😂😂😂
I don’t know how many depression and jealousy it’s so bad that sometimes we have to lock ourselves away from the rest of the world
Mmhmm. Been waiting 18 months to adopt. It’s totally ok to feel those things and then process them on your own but it’s absolutely not ok to say them.
Yes.and charlotte just wanted a baby and not love.she wanted this and she wanted that.how much was about love? Peoples values are so messed up.why is there no great push for adoption? The world is so overpopulated. But hey no i must have my unrematkable baby cos i can show off my bump.jeez

How dare charlotte guilt Miranda like that in such a hard situation Miranda has to make for herself.

I love Sam! She is soooo real
Real? So most women approach the subject of abortion as casually like going to the dentist? That's scary.

Still one of my best shows I can still watch it like it's the first time so relatable in 4 different views especially touchy topics like this
I used to think Charlotte was so out of line here, I mean a part of me still does but apart of me also completely understands her reaction.
She was completely wrong “How could you do this to me” she was being selfish

Samantha is the best! Love her.
Why?
Samantha is a slut because it's the only thing in her life that gives her any kind of purpose/validation. Too chicken to show real emotion. No wonder why she is not confident or woman enough to have a kid. She's human. But by no means, the "best".
