You are the one that got me into Temur Pirates, which is still one of my personal favorites. Looks like you've done it again!! Thanks for the breakdown, imma go build this now!
Never seen your videos before but i got super excited avout this card about a day afo and built a list so I am glad to see other people with similar ideas
The neat thing about your wicked role plan is that it gets through The One Ring protection. I did not think this commander would be very strong but I have been convinced otherwise.
@@bwahchannel9746 Yes. Protection from Everything does not prevent your life total from changing due to effects that don't target, meaning as far as CEDH is concerned the only thing it technically wouldn't get around is Teferi's protection. It even gets around Angel's Grace because Angel's Grace specifically cares about damage reducing your life total to less than 1. Both work due to Damage counting as Loss of Life, but Loss of Life does not count as Damage, which both Protection and Angel's Grace only prevent damage and not loss of life.
I have been working on this deck since your video. There are so many legitimate alternate win cons. For example, Dualcaster Mage (not summoning sick) + splinter twin + cerulean wisp (or twisted fealty) replaces our commander. That also gives us ST + Deceiver Exarch and Dualcaster + Twinflame as alternate win cons.
Super video, nice deck list, thanks for the information! A couple of ideas that I had, which might be a bit off of the cEDH level, but seem cool to me: Ral, Storm Conduit wins with a number of cards and Stella Lee's second ability. Expedite is a cantrip that provides haste and Claim the Firstborn is another way to give Stella haste; both generate infinite Magecraft triggers. A haste enabler could actually enable a turn-one win, unless I'm badly mistaken. Twisty Fealty does that, but a one-mana haste enabler plus Crimson or Cerulean Wisps seems more likely.
I’m looking at building this. Although it’s a bit more expensive, Involuntary Employment is worth considering. It has the payoff of making infinite treasures when used with the combo. If you follow it up with an infinite draw combo, you can play your entire deck.
nice video. you really manage to show how broken the commander is, hehe. Ill make sure to save this video for tips when i finally get the commander deck
I have a Stella Lee list I’ve been tinkering with and I have cards coming in from TCGPLAYER to help finalize it. I do like the timetwister loop idea, but I don’t feel like it’s completely worth running. That I could never own such a card lol, too much money. I have seen quite a few builds since I started running her in cedh and one thing I have noticed and capitalized on was its lack on long game presence. Yes it is ideal to win by turn 3 with this commander but depending on both meta and the pod you are in, having a long game set up is also a good idea. The deck synergizes well with storm kiln artist and archmage emeritus as well as birgi god of storytelling. Over recent weeks that I have played Stella in my games, I’ve seen her become such a threat so fast that she is incredibly oppressive. I took a midrange approach to her at first and the build can reimburse mana and cards quite easily.
I built this deck and I'm testing it a lot! I have a few questions: what is the idea of including Twinflame and Molten Duplication?? Are they just to copy Dockside or do they have another function? Same with Cursed Mirror, it seems very expensive to me... what do you think about including Dualcaster Mage? Thank you very much for your answers and I want you to know that since I saw your video I started to get the cards I needed to put together this deck haha it is very fun and now I want to take it to the highest level!
I tried out DCM but it was basically useless outside of the Twinflame combo so I removed it. The copy spells can clone dockside or give Stella “haste” or “untap” her so they have a lot of utility. Still testing things so I don’t know if this is correct to be running yet!
At 10:14 you say "we can use our commander to copy the mystical tutor" but she has summoning sickness at this point :) I'd say it would've been best to wait until the end step of player before you. Also would've prevented any win.
I think that because the combos here are all dirt cheap this is a very strong budget deck. You can use cards like Cloud of Fairies and red rituals instead of free spells
Could fill the deck with cantrips, turn spells, and ways to recur them. Stellas exile ability helps find the turns spells too and then you just gotta cast 2 spells and then a turn, from there you get a turn off to set up for your next turn copying sequence
Do you think that RAGAVAN is really important and necessary in this Deck?? I have it almost complete and I am thinking of buying it, but I doubt its effectiveness, and that it is worth spending 50 bucks
I really like this deck and I will probably at least get a proxy version of it, but I think your first goldfish was not a turn 3 win because you Stella on turn 3 and never gave her haste, unless I completely missed something
Out of curiosity, why no thoracle win con? Drawing your deck is super easy, and you will draw into all of your free counterspells to protect it on cast.
It’s a dead card outside the combo and since we don’t actually need it to win I would rather have a card that is useful all the time and not just at the end of the game. The deck has wicked role spam, Breach/Freeze, twister loops, and infinite power/toughness on Stella as ways to win using cards that aren’t as dead.
If you Cerulean Wisps yourself to draw a metric ton of cards, wouldn't Orcish Bowmasters just obliterate either Stella Lee (ending the infinite draw), or worse yet, target you and deal that much damage for each card drawn?
So you tap Stella to copy Cerulean Wisps. Copy resolves and you untap her and draw a card. Bowmaster trigger goes on the stack, you respond by tapping Stella to copy Cerulean Wisps again. This way the trigger never resolves. Once you draw it, you cast Borne Upon a Wind at which point you will need to let 1 OBM trigger resolve from Borne, and then you can continue to respond with the other triggers on the stack and win without them ever resolving. So as long as you have 1U for Borne you’re safe from OBM.
Definitely a consideration. Frantic Search I was on but paying 3 mana for it was rough and it creates a really obvious interaction point for you to get blown out if you use it without copying it
Yeah the 3.5k is also not including LED, Wheel of Fortune and Timetwister because I don’t actually own those cards I use proxies. Many cEDH events nowadays use proxies, so you can always go that route!
It depends on the tournament. Anything on the topdeck.gg circuit is full proxy and they are the biggest TO right now for cEDH. Other TOs have varying policies. One shop near me is full proxy and another allows 15 proxies. The only no proxy event I’ve been to has been SCGcon.
Why do you say that? I experimented with a budget vadrik deck years ago and it was pretty great. The only difference it’s you’re kinda forced to run bad cards. It feels like a lot of the cards in this list are fine even without your commander in play.
I have a pretty high power Vadrik deck, but I do think that Stella is probably a better cEDH commander, because the only requirement is for you to cast 3 spells to get her going, but with Vadrik you need to have ways to pump him plus payoffs
im typing this before watching. theres no way this girl is even good at all, i dont have any confidence that even in regular gameplay its just not good at all

"Man, storm decks are kind hard" hahahaha thats true
This deck is a lot like Tana Malcolm. The part where it’s different in the part where it doesn’t just kinda play itself
I built Stella! I have had so much fun with her consistency in winning out of nowhere. Glad she’s getting the love.

Twisted Fealty you absolute madman I love you lmao

If Haste is that big of an issue. Hall of the Bandit Lord is a land that solves it. For a bit of a step life price.
could you make a updated video on the new combos from the new cards you put in moxfield deck list?
Love this decklist... I'll take to to my next cedh pod
Got the precon today pretty excited to this one.

Still waiting for someone to explain what casting 4 spells in a turn has to do with building a railroad
Ummmmm something about the first three being TRAINing for the fourth?
I don't get the Expansion/Explosion combo line, can someone explain please? :)
absolutely obsessed with this breakdown, is twisted fealty the only wincon though? thanks :D
There is also Breach + Brain Freeze and Bolt + Twister Breach loops
@@ElderDrunkenHighlander couldnt we toss a thassa's oracle as well just for safe keeping?

Im ngl, I usually hate red but I'm sold
This rocks, think this is possible on a budget? Or are there not enough free 0 cost cards in the game?
I think that because the combos here are all dirt cheap this is a very strong budget deck. You can use cards like Cloud of Fairies and red rituals instead of free spells
Good call I’m a budget guy and my thought process was the red rituals glad you can confirm this.
Im struggling. I have a weak Veyran deck already. But what would be better? Veyran vs Stella?
Is it possible to build her in a way that isn't storm-oriented?
I don’t think it would be as good but an extra turns build where you copy turns spells could be cool too.
Could fill the deck with cantrips, turn spells, and ways to recur them. Stellas exile ability helps find the turns spells too and then you just gotta cast 2 spells and then a turn, from there you get a turn off to set up for your next turn copying sequence
For casual I could also see a X spell build where you cast a ritual and then another ritual into a big X spell which you copy.
No thassa's oracle or lab maniac?
10:20 u cant tap stella in response if the counter the tutor because she doesnt have haste
Do you think that RAGAVAN is really important and necessary in this Deck?? I have it almost complete and I am thinking of buying it, but I doubt its effectiveness, and that it is worth spending 50 bucks
Anything you can cast on turn one to help bring out Stella turn two is very worth it IMO
Timetwister is very expensive. Lol! Can you suggest anothet combo?
Echo of Eons can replace it

pretty sure bond of passion is an A+B win
It is 😁
Yeah, Stella Top 4ed a Commandfest the first weekend it was legal. Card is absurd.
The card your commander exiles can be played for free, not cast. So it wouldn't count as your third spell cast for the turn, correct?
it does not allow you to play the card for free, and even 0 mana spells count as cast triggers.
Thanks for the clarification. Just now getting back into magic after 12 years and some of the new terms can be a bit confusing
"Play" and "Cast" are synonymous in magic. The only difference is "Play" includes lands since lands are not cast.
Remand seems really good here
Ooo classic storm tech
Couldnt you just draw your deck and cast thasas oracle to win?
Why so few creatures?
cEDH can win with commander alone -- the creatures in this deck are for value to pull off the combo
I get that, but I recently checked his moxfield deck link and he’s dropped down even more to 4 creatures and was also wondering why
@ryanbeckett6299 I just swapped them out for cards that worked better with the list
I'm convinced that decks that aren't on ad naus but are on red should be trying to play fury. It just absolutely dunks on kinnan and sisay.
Or twin shot sniper. I wasn't convinced at first, but channel>evoke
I stupidity forgot you do also want cast triggers even if it is an evoke elemental, so I'd want to squeeze both in this list
Shid almost 3 grand! Deck should wipe your arse for you.
Just proxy it! Most major cEDH events are proxy friendly
mogg salvage?
frantic search goes mana positive if you copy it, prob worth it even as just a "free" draw spell since it gives you the mana bac kthru untaps
My buddy is running it in his version. He went 2-1 with the commander last night.
