Ashling was my first commander and while I still keep the Pilgrim as my monored I think I'll slot the Flame Dancer for sure in another spellslinger deck
I never even knew this existed! Thanks, im definitely gonna build it. I wonder if she can top rionya for me. It almost reminds me of a mono red tor wauki. Don't forget to add a favourite of mine: braid of fire. Its perfect here.
Liked the deck tech. First video I've seen from this channel and not planning to have it be the last. How would you feel Flame Dancer compares with Ashling the Pilgrim? Obviously Flame Dancer seems morr instant/sorcery heavy while Pilgrim probably is more land-heavy but for all I know this Ashling also needs an abnormally large amount of lands
Be careful with fork effects, as they can easily lead to infinite card draw. If you have the copy of fury storm target the original, you can loop that until you have seen every card in your deck, which may not be the kind of deck you want to build. I also love ox of agonas in the deck as a hand refill you can dump into the yard and reuse and chump with at will!
Hey there! Love the Shilgengar and Necrobloom builds and the way you explain your choices instead of typical decklists that talk about obvious benefits but not more subtle interactions. Would love it if you have 1-2 gameplay videos per deck where they get to do their thing (win or lose doesn't matter). I'm torn between which of Shilgengar, Necrobloom, or Ashling to build/buy next, so gameplay videos would help a lot. Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback! Gameplay is something we're consider but not quite there. How can I help talk it out with you, though? What questions do you have that can help you decide?
@@nicplz Thanks for taking the time to reply to individual comments! My biggest consideration is, which deck performs best and is most resilient at a mid-powered/budget pod? For context, that means no fetch lands, few shock lands, and minimal tutors/combos. Necrobloom is in an archetype I've never played with before, but many online builds aim to (infinite) combo with it. Ashling is similar to my Blanka deck and seems to draw more hate with the board wipe trigger. She's also not in green, so doesn't seem as resilient. Shilgengar I'm leaning towards the most (Orzhov blink sounds sick), but I fear the inconsistency of dedicating half the deck to angels and half to blink/support. Thoughts on consistency/resilience?
Seismic Assault would be a good idea for bricking on later turns. (Lava Spike can be cast twice for 1 red triggering Ashling's ability the 1st and 2nd time)
I liked your deck tech. One thing that I put in my list is Glinthorn buccaneer and Bralin, and with fury storm we have infinite magecraft bc the copy can target the original and I run 2 shuffle titan I can can draw and discard my deck infinite times and every time I discard Bralin or Buccaneer ping my op for 1
I play in a relatively combo-free battlecruiser pod. Would this card be too overwhelming for our playgroup? I've tried spellslinger decks before with Raggadragga and Arjun the Shifting Flame (red spellslinger with lots of cantrips), but I ended up dropping them because the turns were either too long or too one-sided for my pod to handle, which wasn't fun for my friends to watch. I really love this commander, but I'm worried that it will end up in the same situation and I'll just end up wasting my time.
We specifically brewed this to not be a proactive storm-y version of Ashling, but Ashling can often be built that way. This deck is built around the concept of having lots of tricks to respond to what your opponents are doing rather than doing any sort of combo-y stuff. If your opponents play lots of small creatures (1 or 2 toughness), then it might be a bit annoying for them though.
Hey I think you misread/misunderstoof Soulbright Flameskin at 9:00. You need to activate the ability three times in ONE turn, which means you can't separate it over multiple turns. Or did you mean that?

I think harmonic prodigy would be fantastic in this deck
It absolutely is. I’ve been abusing the fuck out of Ashli g since pre release. I had to scale it down because everyone hated me 😂
“we finally found someone to match your freak” lmaooooo
The lifelink idea is great. I really need to add that to my pyrohammer deck.

I built ashling with dragons approach, its insane
These videos have been great! Keep it up fellas!
Thanks so much! We got lots of fun stuff planned for the summer.
Bag of holding , Inti, Seneschal of the Sun, Containment Construct

Let us know how it goes! Would love to hear how she plays for ya.

This looks so fun - placing a polite request to do Imskir next!!!
We have it on our list!
@@nicplzwhat a king. Your vids are so great btw, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the builds and finding some weirdo cards to pepper in.

Finally a fun commander!!! Eldrazi is boring af tbh
Some of the guys im interested in are sorin house of markov, eladmri korvecdal, kudo king among bears, and cayth famed mechanist
Love it! We have been eyeing Sorin!
since i pulled one at the pre release. i guess i *have* to build one now 🤔
Yeah, I believe that the rule! Required by law.
She is on fire! I love this new Commander! 🔥

Question. Does Ashling first ability trigger each time even if its your second and third spell?
Nevermind, 4:32 he answered it here.
i might be wrong about this. but wouldn't fury of the storm and any other instant or sorcery on the stack just be infinite magecraft triggers?
I want to run this in my oveka enigma goliath deck! It would go hard
Fun stuff!
Red is my least favorite color to play but I have to admit, this looks 🔥
It's a lot of fun. Def feels fresh for a mono red deck.

Ya, he was saying paying 6 mana for 8 a turn nets 2 mana each turn, or 8 total per turn cycle (4 turns)
@@sashajelten ahhh now I get it. Thanks
Missed Omnath, Locus of All (becomes black)
With fury storm you can also infinite ashling trigger by loop copying the original
Runehorn Hellkite
Just gonna add Braid of Fire to this >.>
Such a fun card!
And what about... infect? With Grafted Exoskeleton? No worries, I don't have magic player precious friends.
My only problem with this Commander is that it can only be triggered three times
Not sure that’s actually true? You’ll keep getting discard/draw triggers for the fourth and subsequent spells each turn, right?
After the 3rd time you still trigger the rummaging effect from Magecraft.
remember that it says "this turn" so you can activate all three steps again in your enemies turns with instants
My middle name is ashling 💀💀💀
