      Happy to help. I felt the same way which is why I ended up wating for a good snow fall. As for the stuff at the end of the driveway that was packed pretty good and was pretty wet. So for me and the amount of snow I get I could not justify getting the 2 stage, even though I am sure it would rock.

    Nice to know you can quickly recharge the batteries between snow storms. Hint: when the snow gets deep (>6-8") or is a mixture of snow and ice, I plow ~1/2 width at a time, which means I can go faster.

    Great review. I’ve in my arsenal an Ego lawnmower, leaf blower, edger, and today I purchased an Ego snowblower stage 1 from Amazon because I'm tired of physically shoveling snow on our 4-car driveway size. Today our town had 22 inches of snow. It seldom happens, but I think it's worth having a snowblower.

    It's an excellent unit that saves time and a lot of back effort during snowy days. Last year I spent 15 minutes to replace the rubber auger into the steel auger like the SNT2110 and the performance on wet and dense snow has improved a bit; however, it adds very little bit more noise when spinning than before as steel creates more sound than rubber.
    update 01/2022 - Got the two stage SNT2406 and I think may have to miss all the "Bumping" & sweating on the snowplow piles this year. LOL! 😉

    Ego single-stage snow blower has the scraper bar problem after a few usages. If the scraper bar is worn off, it will keep jarring down on the ground and unable to move forward. I have this jarring down problem and it is very frustrating. I have to keep changing the scraper bar after a few usages. Last year, I added a pair of slide shoes skid in the front auger box, which does better. This year I removed the pair of shoe skids, and I added two 6" wheels in the front auger box, I hope this will solve the jarring down problem.

    This advertisement for this snowblower no way compares to a gas power Toro Powerclear snowblower. It doesn't throw snow as far and the battery life is pretty dismal. My first unit had to be replaced as the circuit board failed within the unit. Just check out the cost for 2 replacement batteries which Ego only warranties for 3 yrs and not 5 like the snowblower. That tells me that Ego doesn't have the confidence that they will last 5yrs. That will set you back 500 dollars. The cost for almost a better, more powered gas unit. I kept my unit for 2 yrs before selling it and going back to gas.

  • @rayrainer985

    I had some EGO support person tell me that it was important to have the 2 batteries because one of them turns the blade and the other one throws the snow. I have seen some other videos that may not support this but I don't know. I watched a video where he just used one battery and it worked. I have the Ego Lawnmower 10 ah battery and was planing to just use this for the Snowblower but the support person talked me out of it. I ended up getting 2 + 7.5 ah battery making it more expensive. I actually thought of buying the snowblower without a battery and purchase just one, since I have one with my lawnmower but it ended up costing more to do that.
    My only grip so far is the that the lid to the battery compartment doesn't stay up, so you have to insert the battery with one hand. No big deal but annoying, nonetheless.

    • @Wanderer001_Reviews
      @Wanderer001_Reviews  3 года назад

      The battery compartment would be my complaint to I do wish it stayed up on its own. However if you got this model snow blower you could run it off of One battery it's not the two stage. The only moving part that's powered by the battery is the blade which throws the snow up into the shoot.

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 2 года назад

      The support person was talking about the two stage unit but still got it wrong as the two stage unit uses one motor to run the auger and impeller from the same gear box at the same time. Both single and two stage unit will run on one single battery ;however, will not be able to use the EGO "Peak Power" technology where two batteries takes turn to provide constant non-fated peek (for example 7.5Ah) power to avoid battery over heating when working under heavy load like dense snow condition from snow plow. Same technology applies to lawnmower like the LM2402SP Peak Power lawnmower that can handle thick lawn which was the first true 10.0Ah (5.0Ah x 2) unit using same motor as the new LM2156SP that does not have the Peak Power Technology.

    I believe technically this is a snow thrower and not a blower since it doesn't have any propeller at the bottom of the chute to blow the snow out. It appears to work well and handles heavier snowfalls; sloppy, slushy snows I tend to think would not throw well. Deeper snows may create a challenge for the operator more than the thrower.

      I have just been using only two 5amp batteries (w/2 slow chargers) and for the most part they are enough to do my driveway on one full charge unless it is very cold or the snow is extremely wet and heavy. But unfortunately the bottom plow edge (NOT the blade) gets caught on even the slightest concrete seam, crack or uneven pavement which can really interrupt your rhythm for each pass and also hurt your wrists or back if you are pushing hard and not expecting it to get caught on something

    I grew up with a snowblower and while it saved me a lot of work it definitely had its own set of problems. You gotta check the gasoline and oil and spark plugs a couple times per year, they make noise and sometimes a lot of smoke.
    I tried switching to electric a couple years ago but I picked a lousy model and the thing broke on the second snow and I couldnt get it fixed. Money in the trash.
    Learned electric blowers need certain things like metal augers, two stage blowing, self-propulsion, and a tension pully on the auger belt. Models with those features are not cheap, but offer a better investment if you plan to keep it a while.

    Great review and ton of information! Watching the part at the end of your driveway was the dead giveaway this wasn’t for me. Living south of buffalo we get a ton of snow and the hardest part is the hard pack from the plows at the end of the driveway. I think the steel auger model would handle that a bit better, nothing like a 2 stage of course but I also don’t want to spend the $1500+ for the 2 stage.

    I have to wonder about some of these videos. My single stage Ego Snowblower sucks. I've ended up shoveling more than using the machine for the last year and a half i've owned it. It can't handle 3 inches wet snow and today it couldn't handle 8-10 inches of extremely dry light snow. I ended up shoveling. The 35 foot throwing distance is literally about 3.5 feet throwing distance. I am not exaggerating on that point. That happened to me in the beginning of last snow season where pushing the unit was "DEAD TIRING" and "IMPOSSIBLE" until I realize because I use the unit so often to help my neighbors on every snowfall the scrapper bar has completely wared down to the five metal bolts that holds the scrapper bar and craping on front metal housing as well. Once I replaced the scraper bar it works like new again. I ended up spending 15 minutes to swap out the rubber auger with the steel auger, mounted the Snow Joe Universal Snow Blower Chute Clearing mount & tool and added GreenWorks/Kobalt 80V single stage skid shoes to my unit to decrease the ware of the scraper bar and cracks that cause the "Heart Attach Stops". Buy the scrapper bar at the beginning of the season or have a backup because it is impossible to get one towards the mid/end of the season.

    keep in mind there is a steel auger version of the single stage available, seen a few comments on that.
    Also, When hitting the end of the driveway snow pack with a single stage. Bust through like two hoppers wide then shave the windrow down by hitting from the side. only do like half a hopper full and you wont have to many problems. To bust through, do the old push down on the handle and hit the top and then pull back and hit the bottom method. That works well with a single stage.

    • @quantanglement

      It's amazing how many people don't do that. I've seen it over and over on different vids. Just pushing full hopper into it is like trying to bang your head into a sheet rock wall again and again until you break thru. Not really a good strategy.

      The single stage unit is quick based on individual's walking speed, light and easy to maneuver for clearing paved driveway with regular moisture snow, works good for loss snowplow piles and you will be excellent cardio workout with lots of pushing, bumping (as seen in video) and sweating for heavy snowplow piles that I need a shower after the job is done. The two stage unit is heavier and less maneuverable but has self-propelled independent turning freewheels. it clears the snow just as well but shoots snow more consistently and feeder (more snow you feed it the feeder it shoots!) with regular and heavy moisture snow. It works effortlessly for loss snowplow piles and you are hardly at work and still dry enough to go to work right after dealing with a heavy snowplow piles but cost more money and space to store it. As a test, I actually blow the entire sidewalk (2 path) of my small subdivision for about 25 minutes while steering it with one hand (left handle locks both auger/impeller and drive wheel) just to get my daily step count while completely without sweat when arrive home.
