Hey Rob! Off topic, but I find myself pondering the severe erosion every time it shows up in one of your videos (e.g., 5:16). Somehow it strikes me as odd to see that much erosion on the Great Lakes. I suspect there is a cyclical nature to the shoreline, accreting and eroding in a slow cycle lasting many years (at least long enough for large trees to grow on the accreted land). If there was only erosion, the lake would constantly be getting larger and shallower, right? Living near the Pacific coast, the accretion/erosion happens much quicker (a change of a dozen feet in the height of the beach sand between spring and fall is not unusual in some spots), and the processes at work seem easier to understand.
A few years ago, the water levels were really high, causing more erosion. They’re down more now. I think the Great Lakes are actually getting smaller over time.
