Hey rockdad, that little knobbly number at 20.37, please, please face and polish! And that big one you want identified? Well, I reckon its a spud! 😆😅😉🤣 cut it open if you can, i suspect you might be pleasantly surprised eh. Luv the video 💓🤗
I had to chuckle when you showed that mason Jar with a collection of rocks...my sister and I used to take a jar like that and go around looking for pretty rocks, glass, marbles...anything that caught our eye really....lol
You can never have enough rocks. Fun to pick and never leave something that is interesting. You can always put it in your rock garden. Take care , hope the family is well.
To all of it... thanks brother! One of the gifts with this whole YT thing, is sharing my area with you all! Love it. Going to keep diving deeper into sharing that scenery 🤘
Beautiful scenery and beaches in the North Shore area. Thanks for heading out in the cold! To show us great rocks. My mom 86 and I love watching the rocks you find with each video. Thank you for your videos - they are a welcome break / vacation during our busy day.
Loved seeing the big lake in the wintertime. Not a view I’ve seen in a long time. Thanks for letting me tag along with you and scoopy on your adventures❄️
I'm so happy for you now that you have the polisher. That has to add a whole new dimension to your picking! I was shivering just watching you and it isn't even winter yet! You'll have to start bringing a thermos with hot chocolate or coffee. Cheers, Rik Spector
Thanks for this. Just came back from a trip to the north shore with my daughter - having just recently started following you, we were inspired to try hunting in a bunch of new places. It’s late in the season and we didn’t find any big rocks, but we did find more than our share of smaller keepers and have broadened our scope of what we look for. Even jasper..I think we have enough to tumble a batch!
That big rock with all the pits is really intriguing . It will be interesting to see how some of your finds look when they are slabbed. Take care and stay safe :)
Dude u have No idea how much I wish I'd seen this video about 3 months ago when I was searching EVERYWHERE to find out what the hell the pretty white rocks that I kept finding on the beach while hunting for agates were (I called em snowballs)... Eventually I figured it out thankfully... here u find 2, the same type it seems that we have on the Oregon coast... Zeolites!! They're so pretty and actually do tumble and get even prettier, just much faster than agates obviously since they r so much softer. Well that was enough to prove to me how well u know your stuff- subbed!👍
Hi again TAYLOR Love it there too! A beautiful pic of the icicles and the open water. That water rolls like an ocean and can have huge waves. It's that powerful water that is ever changing the rock selection. But then oh so quiet at the end beach you found. Thinking those two unique rocks look like russet baking potatoes and that other large piece when turned right has a raccoon face!! Always fun when the rocks speak in different ways sometimes lol. Bet you got chilled to the bone by the time you got done but still worth it right!?! Thx for sharing as always and can hardly wait til next time. Stay healthy and hope all is going good with your new little guy...
Taylor be careful when you go down those muddy snow covered cliffs! You should wear spikes. I can’t get up there to rockhound since my bicep surgery cause it is just to risky. So be careful the kiddos need ya♥️♥️♥️ Stay Safe and healthy the holiday season♥️ Thanks for the virtual rockhounding of the north shore for me♥️♥️♥️♥️
It was 92 here yesterday and I'm envying you in winter clothes with snow and water. Really cheers me up. Thanks, Taylor! Keep filming. 💖 P. S. I'm totally serious, no sarcasm at all. I hate it here!
This one was really great Taylor, I love watching your North Shore wild adventures! So beautiful up there! That big brecciated chunk of mystery rock is really cool, I cant wait to see if you cut it open!
The black magnetic rocks could also be really eroded iron ore! Caused by weathering on the beach it may appear duller then usual. Also enjoyed the videos! 👍😊
I just love your videos. I find myself "saving" them for when I have time to really enjoy them! It is so cool to me to see all the stones that feel so familiar to me identified and appreciated. My Dad always used to look at the black ones with the little quartzy pockets in them because he thought they might be opal. I know you have seen them because they are all over those beaches.
Nice finds, I know you had to be cold. I remember going “up north” with my parents when my dad was deer hunting. Always so cold, loved the snow though. Have fun
Cool! Interesting! I learned some stuff!! Thank you! I’m amazed by the agates you find, some so defined , some not so. If all my chalcedony were agates like yours, that would be awesome! I’ll have to see and search where here on Beaver Island has those gorgeous fortification agates. I love all the rocks I have and totally love finding them, and I love that you, Agate Dad is appreciating the non-agate world of minerals \ rocks. Rock on Dude! Your videos are magnetic lol.
Awesome finds as always!! I can't wait for next season to search for more agates and would love to find some with as much detail as the LSA's have!! You're one of the many people that got me motivated to start making videos. I love watching your content Thanks so much for sharing.
I was going to tell you on your last video concerning those black stones. To take a flashlight to them , or your phone light , the stronger the light the better . See if the light will penetrate the stones . If the light penetrates the stones they're not meteorites. You could open a window on the stones by using that new lapidary machine you have . Hint ! Hint ! Thank you . Enjoyed !

Whenever we went to a beach, Mum had this tradition where she would have to find a pebble with a hole in it or she would never return. We've got so many holey pebbles we lost count! My best beach find was a chunk of Nuumite on a tiny beach on the Isle of Sheppey UK. Weird place to find a rock like that :)
Loved your nature scenes and those icicles hanging from that log, beautiful! Loved your finds also. That big one with holes might be what's called an omar stone? Please keep on sharing.
Probably too long ago to mention, though I just came across this tonight, but the rock at 6:13 is a "puddingstone". Except for a piece of bif--banded iron formation--which was formed BILLIONS of years ago, puddingstones are conglomerates whose innards are in the billions as well. Interestingly, Michigan is the epicenter of some of the most unusual and ancient rocks in the world! (Wish I'd known that when I lived there.) Others: greenstones, petoskey stones and Yooper lights--which glow in the dark!
Your work is amazing, you find such beautiful rocks, agates and minerals. And your videos are so information! I was wondering, if there are that good of finds on the shore, what if you went diving out further, I wonder what's out there! Yes to cold, but summer time 100 yards out or so. Lol not me, just saying, I'm too chicken!
All of the most recent snow has melted and it's almost 50° here in west WI, it's almost like the rockhounding gods have blessed me with a longer season 😂
How far up do you go on the North Shore? Do you have better luck finding rocks during the end of fall/ beginging winter time. Probably not as busy like summers time.
That rock at 6:10 with that braichiated in brown's is beautiful.. I'd love some. That brain stone is what some call galaxy stone because of those bits through out it .. and that other that you call a galaxy stone is more of a different type of agated jasper... but I definitely am not a authority on it.
@@AgateDad I watched that video before. And the brain rock is just bigger with bigger other stones captured and they wiggled out of the surface.. I definitely love vids like these, the roaring madnesss of Lake Superior...You know Man vs The Rushing Water....Tell me something, Is the beach red because of Rhyolite?
Regarding those black rocks, given the weight of them and their magnetic personality, I would think you got yourself a couple of pieces if slag. It's commonly used for rail beds in the mid west. It's produced in huge quantities and had to go somewhere. If you find a piece with a lot of steel it, you can hammer it down.

You can never have enough rocks. Fun to pick and never leave something that is interesting. You can always put it in your rock garden. Take care , hope the family is well.

The ever tumbling of the rocks by the waves is why get get so many well shaped rocks !
Absolutely!
Man i really love the luster of those Jaspers. Let's get this guy to 10,000 before 2021 😎
How cool would that be!
Dude even just the adventure to be had in the search of an area I’ve never experienced, is just so rad to be able to be a part of. Love your work Tay!

Its definitely difficult leaving 😕 such a good connection to the lake
I enjoyed seeing how many rocks were magnetic.
9000! Amazing and well deserved! Thanks for another great video and squirrel moment. 🐿️
Haha thanks!
"Oh no waves here.. OH CRAP" **SPLASH** 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It wasn't too bad! I definitely need gloves and layers while wading in the lake lol 🥶
Nice finds, but y’all can keep that dang snow! My southern blood freezes at 60°!!😝
Taylor, now the water has come down in 2021 on the Great lakes. rock hounding should be a bit less stressful and bigger beaches ! Enjoy
I’m going to check all mine now. That is amazing!

I like those that are river polished, they are so smooth to the touch.
Technically, theyre beach worn, but river washed/beach worn is similar 👍
Great video Taylor! Tough to beat that North Shore scenery. Congrats on your going over the 9k mark!
Thanks!!
The prehnite you found was excellent! Love those botry’s!
I'm going up to the North Shore for my 40th Birthday and seeing as most things will be closed we should have a lot of time for some rock hounding!
Sounds like so much fun!
JASPER IS THE BEST! Ok, watching. :D
I've really started enjoying it more and more lately! So many variations!
@@AgateDad Yep - and it's hard, so it polishes beautifully. It makes me sad it's so underappreciated. :D
Let's do our best to spread the word on its beauty 🥰

It's cool.
🥶
Love the north shore!!! Even in winter! Also I really like the first spot you are at. I've found some good stuff there.
Its so beautiful with the snow ❄

most likely has magnetite in it

Great finds! Making us want to go agate hunting but we can't venture to our favourite sites in England at the moment because they're on lockdown xx
Thanks! Hopefully soon things will get back to a healthy normal state and they'll be waiting for you!!
Just checked all my porphyry and it’s ALL magnetic! Wow. Thanks .
Nice finds, I know you had to be cold. I remember going “up north” with my parents when my dad was deer hunting. Always so cold, loved the snow though. Have fun
It was a little cold, I need better gloves lol
When you had to time to run across the beach I had to do that in high tide in California at night
That sounds fun!
Awesome video as always man. Found some good ones

Finding meteorite is on my bucket list 😉
I need to look up what they really look like.
@@AgateDad Check out Meteorite Men on youtube. I learned a lot.
Will do 👍
I need to get up to the north shore of lake superior in Minnesota!
Nice zeolite! I hope to find some up north
Good luck!
I look mostly for greenstone and diamonds. I collected a couple bushels of petosky stones but got tired of that and dumped them in the driveway.
Found rock in Lompac. CA. On the beach. Looks the same and we found small clam shells inside the holes.
Thats awesome!
The great lakes is also the largest diamond field in the world. But most of them are under water.
Here in massachusetts porphyry is also called magnetite ..I actually never knew it was called porphyry until I learned it from you.😊
Maravilhoso vídeo my dear griend
