All of these Lake Superior agates and chalcedony were found by me around the Lake Superior region on our rockhounding adventures! I enjoyed this rock cutting experience and I hope you did too!

FYI: this saw slowly grinds away each stone, it doesn’t cut, its a very slow process. So I am not at high risk for losing a finger.. so no worries 😊
Thanks for this comment! That’ll really help me sell that saw purchase idea to my RUclips manager. 😂 (my wife)
There is however, 100% Chance of pruny fingers! 💯😂
Hahaha!! I will try to show how slow the process is next time!! Its slowwwwww
So pruny!
Thank you another great video Taylor! I love seeing your excitement when you further your explore your finds! Love the smoky amethyst!
When cutting stones, I only keep the best for further working. The rest I take back to the beach where I found them, and leave them in an obvious place. Kids love them they are like treasure, I know I would have flipped if I found them as a kid. I call it catch and release rock hounding.
What if… you hucked them back in the lake… and go from time to time to see if it gets re tumbled lol how crazy would that be!
@@AgateDad I have done that as well, but it gives me a lift when the kids find them on a log near the water.
You're sooo dope for that💙
You're sooo dope for that💙
I love that idea.
Am I seriously first!? Ha! Friday friends! 🤪🤘
Dang! Beat me to it Jesse... 🤣😭
@@GeodeCrackerCollector haha! Sorry brother 🤪
Dude I legit said out loud “awwwwwwwhhhhh” at 3:35
Man I actually really like 7:17 it’s pretty dude
9:10 oh snap! I’m glad you cut it dude, I know you were hoping for more but seeing what’s happening inside is what helps us learn more for in the field. I think it’s beautiful!
My mom taught me to be a rock hound. And to apriciate the natural beauty of nature. My collection is huge. Been collecting for more than 50 years. Happy hunting. Thank you for posting.
They are all beautiful in their own way. Keep cutting.
🤘🤘
Makes me wish I had access to a saw! So much beauty in what looks like a plain old rock.
Heck yeah!!
LOVE THE SMOKY AMETHYST HOLY MOLY!!! 🤯🤯🤯
💜🖤
BEAUTIFUL!
now on to polish you go!! they looked good wet i bet they look even better polished,, no sad faces on that pile of treasures
You betcha!
All of the rocks were beautiful in their own way. The last was spectacular!
I agree!
A BLAST FROM THE PAST. YEAHHHHH!!! MAN OH MAN THE CREATIONS
They are all so beautiful. I love them all. They universe sure has a way of creating the most beautiful things, don't you agree?
Definitely created with intent ❤️
Loved them all, but the last one was the winner. I hope you were plugged into a GFCI outlet. Be happy, SAFE and stay healthy 😷⚒
Love that piece!
They are all very pretty. You don't always get what you want but you get what you need. The wonderful world of rocks. Lol✌&❤
Absolutely!
I can see the light purple. It’s a beauty. And the rock we voted on I say is pretty. Surprises in a bunch of the rocks, beautiful!
It’ll definitely show more amazing details when I polish it, there’s hidden banding in there 🤘
@@AgateDad I’ll be waiting. 😊
The smoky quartz with the hint of amethyst is awesome the piece on the right looks like a picture of a baby calf. The little one with the bands is so beautiful and the bigger one should look awesome when you polish it. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.
Some nice surprises here. Moss agates have their own special beauty. Thanks for standing out in the rain while cutting these rocks! 👍
I love cutting videos where there is a lot to look at. Nice variety of agates there!
Thanks bud!
I love moss agate
The chunky quartz rock at TS 14:00 was an unexpected beauty..in my personal opinion..I really like it
The last rock cut is my favorite.
One of mine too!
I recognize some of those rocks from your rockhounding. I like seeing what was inside.
Great videos!! So glad I found your channel! Amethyst my birthstone!
Happy you did too!
CONTINUED
liked the outside too. A few others that were nice surprises.
Wanted you to know I found your other site finally of all the beautiful sites and sounds of the North Shore/Superior!
Wow what a special and happy site! From the very beginning when I became a commentor I have admired your photography. You capture such cool places that are the beauty of that location. Can't tell you how wonderful it is for me to see it all once again. Many thx Taylor!
Plz excuse this continued comment but phone had a weird moment lol!
Very lovely. Nice!
Very nice your stone
I really like that you show us right away what's inside. The waiting can be tough! 😊👍
Happy to show right away!
I think it would be cool to get a Moss Agate. ☺️❤️🌍 I love my Carnelian And Carnelian Agates. I have both.
So fun seeing what they look like inside!! 🥰
Thank you so much for these last 2 videos! What to look for and what's inside!🤩
Thanks!!
YES! Dude! That crazy little one at like 3 and a half minutes holy crap!!
That big one is still amazing man! I think we all secretly hope that each one you cut is full of bands but we know that can’t always be the case but DANG! I can’t wait to see that one polished up!
It’s all a journey, someday it WILL happen, and until then, we keep trucking and grinding 😉
That little handed one is beautiful 👍
Love that one
Thanks for enduring the rain for this awesome content!
Of course!
Nice color nice bands very good. Thankyou for the show.
Thanks for watching Jim!
Holy tamales! That ugly nodule with craters is.... beautiful. Wow! Looks like it had a window. 👍🏽❤️
Lovely! Thank you!
There you go again, enjoying your hobbie ! How cool 😎 keep those videos coming ! Thank you Taylor
Always loving this hobby!! Thanks for watching!
Awesome finds
Thanks for watching!
Just watching you cut them and waiting for the results is what I really like.
That's natures lottery tickets, but a lot better than the paper ones.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Great video. You never know what is inside until you open them up. The last one, gorgeous! Thanks for sharing Taylor.
Thanks for watching!!
Always fun to see the individual characters of the stones emerge. Another great video!
Thanks Karen!!
Love to see the material you cut.
You really can't imagine the treasures inside til you open it up
Great job.
Great finds as always!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Appreciate you!
Hi Taylor, some nice pieces among those that you cut. A couple of the small agates have nice banding and that piece at the end has some nice colour.
Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
🤘🤘🙏♥️
Gorgeous!!! Do you ever cut that back edge off to make tiny slabs for jewelry makers?
They are all gorgeous. I love stones and have since I was a kid. I can’t believe I still haven’t bought myself a saw like this!
Watching these is so satisfying!! Fantastic!!
So happy you enjoy! I haven’t but I really should!
Wow amazing and beautiful rocks lol 👍👍👍
Lots of beautiful specimens that are always worth polishing to explore all the details. Fantastic Material 👍 Super Video
That was awesome, I’m definitely going to pull out the tile saw and get to cutting, thanks for the inspiration, motivation mucho 🧡
Do it bud!!
Hi again TAYLOR
Great fun! So happy you cut them all! Almost every one has some beauty inside. Lol I had to look really close but I was sure I saw purple! My fav of course because of the amethyst but I very much liked th
I would craft my own ear plugs with those.
They look so cool cut in half, really beautiful. Learning a lot about rocks from your videos. Thank you for your time and hard work.
Those are some really awesome agates I thought some was Carnelian that one with a lot of bands in it looks like an orange Carnelian it's hard for me to tell with some of the Carnelian and the agates because they both have banding in them but I have some of both I love them all I am a huge Rock and Crystal enthusiast and gemstone my next step is to get myself a lapidary cutter or yeah I saw because I have fire agate that I need to clean up and cut and I cannot wait to do that I've cleaned them up a little bit but not a lot because I had to get some diamond bits for my Dremel and it's going to take a while for sure
You definitely should get a saw! It opens up a whole new world and is sooo fun!
@@AgateDad I need to learn how to prospect or mine for certain rocks and gemstones and crystals I know of places here in Maine where to find them but I need to get some tools I got some gardening tools but yeah with this covid it's been kind of hard I guess last year especially when I really wanted to go out and start digging about and looking for myself eventually I'm sure I will
I need one of these! Just can't wait to go to get some agates!! 😁😁😁
🤘🤘
Excelente mi amigo muy buen trabajo
Some beautiful cuts Taylor x
Thanks Klaire!!
Loved seeing how pretty the rocks were after cutting into them! Thanks for sharing!! 😊
Thanks for watching!
Cool stuff
Absolutely loved it thanks for sharing
Thanks for joining us!
10:00 I think if you cleaned it up and polished it, you'd find a bunch of little pools of agate in it with some bands hiding. Have a piece of breccia pretty similar. Once it got polished up though the little bands inside just popped right out. Absolutely fun video though brother. Love the sound of the rain as well.
I agree! Thanks man!
At 9:59 the white spot you're pointing at
looks like the moon peaking out
from behind a dark storm cloud 🌕☁️ very cool.
Thank You 🙋♀️
Taylor, before you cut that last one it looked like a whole lotta nothin'. But, after being cut, it is super impressive. That's definitely one I would put on display!
Gotta polish it first then absolutely 🤘🤘
Great video. Love those pieces. Now I have a few rocks to question as well. Could be hiding some bands. Thanks for sharing.
Cut em!!
Will do soon as I can. Thank you.
You’re welcome!
That smoky amethyst.... So beautiful✨🖤💜✨
Those mossy ones are interesting. Great cuts Taylor!
Oh wow, lots of surprises! Just like Christmas! That was fun, thanks. I went through the rocks that we tumbled after roock hunting in the UP, and out of a fish bowl of rock, there were 3 agates. Tiny, but mighty. Thanks for sharing! Happy Hunting!
7:20 is Prehnite. You can find copper flakes and veins when you cut it 🤩
Good stuff! I have quite a pile of rocks that I need to cut.
Awesome rocks all beautiful 😊💙✌🏻
Thanks!
Shortly after watching this- I was looking at a poster and apparently "smoky quartz agate" is a type of Lake Superior agate... I wonder if that's what you have there, if so, a very nice specimen! Great video... thanks for sharing! 🙂
There has to be agate bands for it to be that variation, but I WISH!!! Thanks for watching!
You and Rookie both putting out cutting videos, good stuff 👍
niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice, be interested to see them polished 👏👊
That’s the plan my dude 🤘🤘
Your second rock (big guy) is a fossilized sponge! Trust me :) Look up Greenfield Ohio where we live: huge ocean fauna fossil area! Ty for your videos. Interesting.
Will do!
We have found a variety of sponge fossils in our farm. Some look "squished " while others are almost perfectly round with great detail. Many have crystal and "layering" . Keep looking and you will find more. I can send you pics if you publish your email address :)
I'm late as usual but, I loved it! Now I want a saw.🤑
Haha all good! They have many models!
Olá ❤😍 ágatas lindas🤩
Awesome video and your rocks are incredible!
Appreciate that 🙏♥️
Nice cuts. That last big one is pretty cool. Would look nice with a face polish?
You bet that’s what’s happening!
Howling wolf!
I messaged you regarding my upcoming trip. Can't wait to do some hunting.
I’ll get to it today 🤘🤘
Nothing is a waste of time, if you love doing it. I need a saw so bad. I found huge chunks of agatized coral.
Which one ya looking at?!
@@AgateDad I need something for slabs. These are pretty damn big. I put them under UV light and they glow like crazy. Super thick banding.
@@AgateDad I think the one you are using In the video should work. They are a little pricey, but honestly these are amazing enough I feel it’s worth it. I wish I could show you pictures. Or I’ll post some videos soon.
That last one looked like a thunder egg core.
Mantap batu nya bos
tracing light pad for artist if you use one this and cut into two slice you will see many different type of colors on the rock I have one but not the saw for stone .
Awsome xxx
Đẹp tutệt
You never mentioned the little white bird in your brown stone with red center!
I’ll have to double check!
Thank you for doing all of this it’s so awesome to see them be cut, it brings out a completely different rock! You’re living the dream 😂
Mabuhay
I’ve got a nice sized (and beautiful) agate the same color as 3:00. We find agates in the gravel pits in my local area. Too bad we can’t post pix in the comment box...! I’ve always wondered what it would look like if it was cut in half, but I’m afraid I’ll ruin it. 🙃
That’s always a fear! What area do you hunt pits??
Awesome!!
Curious ... Do you ever use some of these to make cabichons. There is marvelous potntial in some of them for that purpose.
I live in New Zealand, I was given some beautiful big rocks of Jasper and other rocks, (can’t remember the names) by a close friend who passed away just weeks ago, I would like to cut them open to see the surprises inside. I’ve never cut any open before, can I use a ceramic tile cutter that has a water bath or do I have to purchase a specified cutter
You can use a tile saw with water but it may be more aggressive than a lapidary saw, so take it slow. Please let me know if you have any questions!
@@AgateDad Thankyou 😀
Hi love your rock hounding videos
Thank you!
@@AgateDad can you do more rockhounding videos
I love it especially the amethyst and the fossil
As rockhounding adventures happen and are successful, I will put those videos out, my next two videos will be rockhounding videos. Until then, check this one out: ruclips.net/video/SAQDfIdJzpQ/видео.html
Lindas demais 😍😍😍
:)
I’m going to have to send you something from Missouri sometime... I think you’ll like some of the stuff I find here 👍🏼 Let me know if you ever want to do a rock trade or something
Yeah I’d definitely be game for that!
You need to come to Utah with your cute family and do some Rockhounding! We have amazing rocks and minerals from end to end. I'd love to just send you something cool from Utah. Do you have a P.O. box or something?
The last one you cut, the big one, if you turn them sideways, the one side looks like the face a lamb. Do you still have that? Would you be willing to sell it? I love lambs, and collect them, in all sizes shapes forms and materials. lol Thank-you for the cool video.
Send me a message 👍
@@AgateDad How?
Are you on facebook?
Did you serve in the Air Force? My Jessica did 8 years. Great videos as always!
I did 8 years as well, Air National Guard
14:50 left hand slice looks like a palm print to me. What's inside a rock matters - whether we think it is beautiful or not - the rock is beautiful.
After you cut them open what do you do with them can you re-cut the little ones safely to get a slab to make jewelry maybe you could do a video on what you do next after cutting them open TY
I polish them and show videos of that as well
Great video…Curious what blade you are using on the HiTech saw. Does not look like the standard green notch one they offer. I have the same saw and am looking for something that will cut agate a bit faster but still give a smooth edge.
I am using the notched Diamond blade, I have two, this one is not green like on the website but is the same. It’s pretty great, I’m hoping to use my thin sintered blade next to try that out 👍
Thanks for great video. Would it be possible to note approx time it takes to cut in future vids? I will keep watching :)
All depends on what material your cutting but each cut takes anywhere from a minute to 5 minutes, I’ve had one agate in the past take 15 minutes
Ever find gold in the quartz when cutting?
I have not. I also have not looked
I do know that gold is usually found near Quartz veins.... I'm curious if you ever do run across it... keep going!
What is your set up for cutting the stones? Do you need a diamond blade or anything special?
I have the Diamond blade from high tech diamond, link is in videos description box
