TY as always for sharing your day with us all. That last piece was so beautiful. You just never know what surprises are waiting inside. I have a bowl of off fragments, small pieces and other people's rejects. The grandchildren and neighbor children love to sort through the bowl, and I don't worry about them handling the pieces. Win win. Cultivating new young rock enthusiasts. 😊
Oh They are so Beautiful, however I need to practice on those previously ordered. I will watch and I just might get Tempted. I just don’t want to ruined them.
I really love the different colors in that third one. I thought it was really neat how the second one changed depending on the angle you were looking at it.
The nodule looks like it could potentially be a Botswana agate with the grey and light patterns potentially. I typically see them with tighter banding but the colors are similar and the rind as well .
Have you ever watched any of Theo's cutting videos? He tends to cut really thin slices. When he hold them up to the light, you can see the layers and faceting, i was amazed.
I would say the first nodule is Botswana Agate. Nice piece too. The second for sure is a Brazilian Agate. I think the third agate is a moctezuma agate which is from Mexico. Also a very nice piece.
If you know some one who can make stained glass lanterns they can make one with slices of agate instead of pieces of glass. I have seen candle lanterns made with agate & they look amazing & even small pieces can be incorperated. You can also use a ready made lantern & glue pieces of agate on to the glass but be carefull, some types of glue are highly flammable. Some battery lit lanterns also do get hot.
We live in British Columbia, Canada and have beautiful black agates that look very similar to that first nodule. With a similar red skin. Love watching your channel!
They could also be used as pendants for a necklace. Wire wrap or just attach the pendant loop thing (I can’t remember what they’re called) right to the stone. Using resin will help with the shine if don’t want to go through the polishing.
Just it off curiosity, how long did it take you to learn how to polish things without screwing things up? I feel like it would take awhile to really get a handle on it. Obviously I don't know much but I think the stuff you do looks freaking amazing!
I know that piece was thin but have you ever considered thin slabs for a mobile? I love it when you can see light coming through like when it's hung in a window 😃
Taylor, obviously you have friends in the right places! Yeah, thirty years ago I was at such a sale, and the things those people were selling were amazing. I explained to those people what those rocks were; they shrugged, and then asked me to name a price. I said seventy-five dollars. They rolled their eyes and smirked. Clearly I was the biggest dope in the world to give them so much money for some old stones. Those "old stones" have pride-of -place in my display cabinet.
I LOVE how excited you get! Question. What is the difference between a nodule and an agate? Also, could you show the fluorite you found? I have the crystals but would love to see it in its natural form. Thanks so much Taylor!! Ps...do you cut any other rock than agate?
So yes I cut much more other than agate but agates are my favorite so I lean into that much more. An agate nodule is an unbanded agate in its most natural state, the nodule, was the truest form before cracking, wearing away some husk over time, or whatever. So nodules are the most exciting thing to me because you really never know whats going on since someof the time nothing is shown.
I will certainly look at stones in thrift and yard sales much differently from here on out. If I find a worthy specimen, I'll definitely send it your way!
Wow that one that wasnt finished. 🫣🫢😍🫠. The colors blended so great. Looks like some cell paintings i do. The colors people think aren't going to work look the most beautiful ❤
Nice job! I found cool mystery slabs at an antique store, I don’t do lapidary, maybe I should send them to you 🤔 Tumble your scraps, they make great display pieces in a bowl or jar
I have trouble with the transition from 220 to 280 with the harder stones. So I would like to get another hard around 280 or 300. What I do now is take it to my slant lap the thing says 180 but it's definitely 280 it was written in marker. Any way after that I go to the 280 soft otherwise it gets annoying lol. I think that agate is from Mars because it's out of this world.👍👍😁 Great video
Looks like KY red banded agate as far as the last one and the smaller nodule looks like one of several I have whole myself just no saw, and the 2nd one looks like some from here locally as well and I have some big pieces of it
You're a very talented person in stones. I have here in my place a dark green stone in which I don't know if it's a gems stone. I'm from surigao part of the Philippines. Hope I can send you pics of that stone.
All stunning pieces but sometimes I yell at my screen lol No don't cut it! That one you think is from Mexico is a beaut for sure whether it was cut or not. Thanks again for another great video!
YES 👑🌍 Agates are my fav also. I can’t forget. I have bins of “Banded Iron” formations. Let me tell you. Those have got to be my second favorite mineral. Can I ask you. Can I tumble Agates and Banded Irons together?? Anyways beautiful video as always. 😎💯✅💪
I really think Agates are the best example of what God did with rocks. Diamonds? Meh Rubies? Neat color.... But just one. Agate has them all and is as individual as each of us
Hi Taylor…I just found your channel and enjoy the content, as well as your enthusiastic personality. Thanks for sharing. BTW, what kind of guitar is that I see in the background? -joel
I haven’t read anything definitive, but your guess on the age of these agates? Example, your gorgeous nodule, what’s the time frame for some agates to form?
@@AgateDad I just spotted this on the National Park Service, “Lake Superior volcanoes? A mid-continent rift? It all happened right here on the Keweenaw Peninsula! The cold exposed bedrock in the Keweenaw had a fiery beginning some 1.1 billion years ago, but it is still affecting our lives today.” Since agates are born of volcanoes and volcanic conditions, it seems logical the oldest most agates from Michigan can be is 1.1 billion years from initial formation? Then, someone smarter than me could postulate on how long they took to form from start to finish?
How would we go to contact you to send an agate for polishing? I would love one of mine polished and also have wayyyyy too many halves that I don't know what to do with at my place
Sometimes it almost looks like you can polish to much?? Is that possible? It looks like some agats seems more "foggy", the pattern is not so clear as before polishing
A fellow on youtube channel Dan Hurd Prospecting is very knowledgeable on rocks. He is such a nice guy and would probably love to help you identify rocks.
Thanks for watching! If you are new, hit that subscribe button to join us on more lapidary and rockhounding adventures!
That's honestly a brilliant idea. I've never thought about finding rocks at garage sales. Makes for great content too!
Agate Dad! I was thinking of sending you green jasper petrified wood to cut for me, would you wanna do that?
You cut the buckeye butterfly/moth 😮😢, js

Amazing idea!
I’ve gotten some beautiful agates at garage sales and thrift stores. Thank you for the great video and thanks to the woman that sent them to you!
Beautiful!! I’m sure the mystery woman Loved them!! Thank you for being such a kind person!! 🪬🩷🪨🩷🪬
Hi Taylor, Happy to be watching from Idaho!
Hey there!
Oh They are so Beautiful, however I need to practice on those previously ordered. I will watch and I just might get Tempted. I just don’t want to ruined them.
The coyamito, actually looks like Swazi agate from Africa. It’s a beautiful agate. Good cut and polish.😎😎
That’s a cool call on that!
What a beautiful agate that partially cut one turned out to be! Love all the colors. Thanks for sharing what you do!
Wow! She sent you some beauties! She's gonna love the polishing you did! They are GORGEOUS!!! 😊
That nodule is so gorgeous! I love the color and all those bands were so nice!
Such good coloring on it!
I really love the different colors in that third one. I thought it was really neat how the second one changed depending on the angle you were looking at it.
That's a wonderful job on the polishing. They are beautiful indeed. We had fun watching. Thank you.
I’m glad you had fun ☺️
Beautiful shine on that agate. You should try out black lighting agates. You never know, I found agate material that glows green! Wow!!!
The lavender agate is my favorite, since purple is my favorite color
Great episode Agate Dad 🧡 Such beautiful Agates, thanks for sharing the story with us ☀️
Thanks!!

I agree with you!
They all turned out gorgeous!

Did you mean Montezuma?
@@lindastephens619 Nope. Google Moctezuma Agates and you'll see some nice examples.
I thind thay theyvwete all beautiful. I think she will love it. That was nice of her to think of you. 😊
I think so too!
WOW THE LAST ONE IS GORGEOUS!!!
The first one you polished is gorgeous
Everytime I find a piece of porphyry I think "omg agate dad would squeal with joy about this" 😂
It’s so good!
Maybe it's time to check into getting Dopsticks and Dopping wax for holding those small stones? It makes it gobs easier :)

Don't trow away the two small cuts of the last agate! They can be used in terrariums or as decorations!
They could also be used as pendants for a necklace. Wire wrap or just attach the pendant loop thing (I can’t remember what they’re called) right to the stone. Using resin will help with the shine if don’t want to go through the polishing.

What a really cool and sweet thing! I was excited to see everything she found for you. Great job on the polishing!
9:31 vibrant coloring I’ve not seen before..and unique patterns
Throw the off-cuts in the tumbler to make little gems ❤
Awesome! I think that last Agate reminds me of a Turkish Agate I had purchased to slice about 2 years ago. May be a Turkish Agate.
5:23 I’m so glad you cut the opposite direction and revealed actual extremely defined bands,,, whaaa?? Didn’t see that coming; cloud to bands
Well now we're watching a delay broadcast-hehehe
Haha yeah it was a pre recorded, live premiere of that. So the first showing I guess you could say.
Love how you get so excited 😊
Nodule looks like Botswana Agate kinda rare to get it into the states raw so have fun! It’s usually characterized by its grey, pink and salmon tones.
I know that piece was thin but have you ever considered thin slabs for a mobile? I love it when you can see light coming through like when it's hung in a window 😃

3:48 stunning lavender bluish hues
Those rocks look so beautiful on the inside and polished. My favorite one is the third one. It's beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Liked. From Jordan
All beautiful but that last one is stunning!

I love the agate at 10:00 looks like a duck inside.❤ 🦆
Great garage sale find! They polished up beautifully. I'm going to have to start going to garage sales and look for rocks!❤❤
That blue agate is amazing!
That agate nodule could be a Namibian agate. Not the blue lace variety. I picked up the exact same type of nodule from a rock shop in Austin.
Beautiful!!! ❤❤❤
I’m actually checking out some yard sales this morning. Keeping my eyes peeled!😂
Good luck!

3:00 min agate is the color of Celestine. I swear, if I had a lap saw I would cut EVERYTHING! LOL!

that looks ALOT like a spot for agates near Acton california. The husk, banding and color all remind me of them
All stunning pieces but sometimes I yell at my screen lol No don't cut it! That one you think is from Mexico is a beaut for sure whether it was cut or not. Thanks again for another great video!

Love the agate!
The first agate maybe an oco geode I have one just like it
Awesome agates again, dop them, if too small to have a grip.

Coyomyto was my guess as well !!
Those turned out amazing. So beautiful. ❤️🏏🎸
Sure did :)
The third one with the red banding could possibly be Kentucky Agate?
ALMOST reminds me of Bakers Agate from Deming New Mexico Almost
Maybe you could invent a game using pieces of agate or other polished minerals as game pieces.
Keep all those flat chip pieces and when you have enough you or someone else can make a mosaic with it.
How about a daub stick to help you polish the small ones?
They’re still too thin
Very nice!
So perfect I am going to have a garage sale and I will be have some good rocks for sale
Sounds fun!!
Do you sell nodules or cobbles of agate? I'm a flint knapper and knapping states are my favorite.
Anything I sell will be on my Etsy store
Is that beautiful blue one a blue lace agate possibly?
I don’t believe so
4:00 looks like a Madagascar
Nice polishes.
Thank you!
I wish the garage sales in Ohio would have stuff like that
How would we go to contact you to send an agate for polishing? I would love one of mine polished and also have wayyyyy too many halves that I don't know what to do with at my place
It looked like a rubber duck in one of the agates.
You sound like me, forgetting what you said, lol
That second one looks like the remains of a Montana iris agate.
I don't know exactly what type of agate That is? But I do know that's a pretty agate
How long does a saw blade typically last?
Sometimes it almost looks like you can polish to much?? Is that possible? It looks like some agats seems more "foggy", the pattern is not so clear as before polishing
Before polishing there was water on it
A fellow on youtube channel Dan Hurd Prospecting is very knowledgeable on rocks. He is such a nice guy and would probably love to help you identify rocks.
I could probably figure out the identification if I did enough research, google is awesome. Dan Hurd is also awesome!
The nodule looks like a Batswana agate I hope I spelled that right 😂
Awesome video. I was wondering if you wanted to try cutting some of the Swazi agate nodules I have?
That would be fun! Sure!
Nice!!!
Do you not have Dop Sticks. For those small ones
I do, still too thin
@@AgateDad makes sense. Thanks for replying
I think it looks more loke a Botswanna agate.
Maybe!
Alien eyes.
butterfly
What is a cavashaw?
Cabochon
❤❤❤
Maybe you could make some small earrings for your wife.
