“Lake Superior is cold today.” When is it not cold? I was at Whitefish Point in Michigan many years ago when the air temperature was in the 90s, and the water was frigid! I kept going into the water, though, to keep the black files off me. It was a choice between getting eaten alive and freezing to death!
I’m allergic to bug spray, but have discovered that peppermint oil helps to repel bugs. I put a few drops of the essential oil on cotton balls, and put them in my pockets. Give it a try! You’ll smell like a candy cane, but apparently bugs don’t like candy canes!

Looks like a cool spot with lots of great agates! Man I hope that big one is an agate nodule but who knows. Try leaving that big one outside for a few weeks with the dark stain face up. I've had that happen before and rainwater will remove the stains! I'm not sure if it has to do with the PH or the ionization or what but it works! Regular tap water doesn't seem to cut it. Just leave it sitting outside for a few weeks and check it after a few good rain showers.

Loved your video. I wish you would have taken that big rock home with you. I don't know if this affects the area you were at but the Chicago River has reversed it's flow and the water from the river is flowing into Lake Michigan. Maybe that's why the water was so murky.
I know when the Gulf of Mexico flows into Lake Pontchartrain it changes the color of the lake.
I received the piece of porphyry I ordered. It is very nice! I think I like the darker rock ( which is what I received) better, it shows the crystals better.

Sie konnte den Rucksack kaum tragen, schwankte. Nur gut dass mein Auto ca. 30 m entfernt stand. Viel Spaß beim öffnen. Ich säge meine Steine nicht. Sie sind meine Spur im Hof. 😊

I've looked in lake MI this summer for petoskey stones and such but water was pretty scummy and churned up. I would just randomly grab handfuls or bucket fulls of rocks just to have a chance to see what's in that dirty water. It panned out once in awhile.
