Unfortunately The Boring tunnel doesn't have any wheelchair accessible vehicles!! The monorail is a great form of accessible transport & should be kept!
My wife and I had a bad experience with the monorail a couple of months ago. We bought tickets and I took my wife to the elevator in her wheelchair at the far end of the station. No signs but the elevator was not working. Then had to get a refund and find alternative paths. We found lots of issues with elevators in general in Vegas. Could you do a segment on handicap access around Vegas? We would be willing to help if you’re interested.
As to asbestos at The Tropicana, the two hotel towers were built in 1979 and 1986 respectively. The 1979-tower may likely have asbestos in it because the material was not outlawed in the U.S. until 1978. The 1986-tower should not have asbestos. Obviously the casino predates this and would have asbestos in drywall taping mud, piping insulation, ceiling tiles, etc. But asbestos removal is fairly standard so it shouldn't be a big deal as The Hacienda (Mandalay Bay site), The Dunes (Bellagio site), Las Vegas Sands (Venetian site) all had it and had it removed before those implosions.
I think they would have to be engineered from scratch. As far as I know the only two systems that use that size are Disney World and Vegas. Maybe they should get together to share the development costs of new trains. But that number could be huge to make shutting it down sound better as well. But that’s the number they have said.
@@Milestomemories fair point, but if this Bombardier is the same company as the one that manufactures ships and recreational vehicles, Id think they could sell the necessary documents to reproduce them
I didn't know the guitar tower has a light show. That definitely helps soften the blow of losing the volcano, since it will be replaced with another show.
The monorail was doomed from the start. It doesn't service the airport. It doesn't run 24 hours a day, not even on the weekends. You have to walk a mile to get to it from every stop. But worst of all, they repeat the same recorded message ad nauseum. They should have designed it as a loop around the strip and not just on one side! The only plan worse than this is the Tesla tunnels at the Convention center that don't really do much and now they charge you to go from Resorts World to the Convention Center!
Myself I think the tower will overshadow everything else. JMO Love watching you guys. Keeps me up to date until my next visit. Can't come as often as we once did but like to keep up with what's going on. Thanx.
If the LOVE show is still drawing near full capacity attendance (I've seen it 3 times), I can't see where it makes any sense to close it down. Hard Rock should feel lucky to get it as part of the purchase. It's a perfect fit.
No resort is going to have more to lose without some sort of public transit like the Monorail in its immediate proximity than the Westgate. If I were Westgate and to a lesser extent Sahara, I'd be lobbying hard for some kind of replacement to the Monorail when it is decommissioned. Awwwwwwww, good to hear you've had a favorable experience at Rosa Mexicano. The Miracle Mile Shops' dining options have always been BRUTAL between Cockroach One, a bunch of fast-food that's for the most part not even good fast food, and then the overpriced Nacho Daddy..................so this and the food court will hopefully substantially improve matters. It's kind of hilariously and deliciously ironic that Hard Rock International of all entities is initiating the death knell on a popular show based around a legendary beloved rock band. Like, how does that even happen? XD
Yeah it’s ironic that Love seems to fit their theme so well. Great point on Westgate and Sahara. They’ll both have Vegas Loop stations but it will hurt them.

There was talk that they were trying to buy the ti as well and if they did they would build the guitar Tower in the middle of the two Resorts and keep the volcano. That would be literally the best option

I wonder how much that guitar tower will impact the other strip properties views. If you’re in the original mirage tower depending on where your view is the guitar. Also where is the sidewalk in front of the mirage on that model? Sad about Beatles love it our favorite coming to see it one last time.
I was the one who got Vegas Advantage to do the voucher expiration story after they did their record setting casino hopping. I asked them what the expirations on the tickets were, because I lost almost $5 because I didn't realize _Treasure Island's_ vouchers expired in 30 days! I come to Vegas about once a month typically, but not necessarily within 30 days. I shamed _Buffalo Bill's_ about their 30 day tickets and they actually changed their's to 180 days before VA did their record. The guitar looks kind of gaudy and I kind of wonder how it could be so large since Paris had trouble building a life-size Eiffel Tower because of plane regulations? Maybe it's because it's so big on top and not just a point like the Eiffel Tower on top.
Thanks for the info about the monorail. I'm considering purchasing a vacation condo, & some of the candidates would only be feasible if the monorail is in operation (e.g., Turnberry Towers, the LV Country Club).
Those pink totopos look like something Barbie would bring to a party, and that Rosa Mexicano restaurant looks very interesting. Now, seeing the guitar-shaped tower that will replace the Mirage is going to be bittersweet, and I wish the Hard Rock Hotel the best of luck.
Monorail vehicles are pretty much bespoke, so I am sure that once each of the vehicles no longer pass inspections, or no longer operable, it would be quite expensive to replace them. The county would be better off just building a subway from downtown Las Vegas, down the center of the strip, and into the airport. Or they could repurpose two lanes from the Las Vegas Boulevard and run a light-rail, giving the transit signal priority so the trains only have to stop for each station.
I expect we’ll see them take parts from some trains to keep others operating until they shut it down. So probably reduced service before it goes away completely. There doesn’t seem to be any desire to get funding for a true mass transit solution.
Wow I didn’t know they’re putting the guitar tower there. I thought they’d demolish the hotel and put the guitar tower as one big hotel and casino instead. Looks badass. I went to the one in Florida and it’s really nice. Hopefully they build it soon and doesn’t end up in construction phase like that Venetian tower/condos
Loved the monorail because it was safer than the Deuce!! It would have been great if it went all along the strip instead of veering off to the convention center!!

Why are they getting rid of monorail? Do they have a reason? I don't see what the issue is. Especially with the new A's stadium coming the monorail will be a FANTASTIC and necessarily means of transportation. As a local, I hate to see it go. For $1 locals get rides its a great deal, especially for beating the limited free parking we have getting up and down the strip.
Hmm interesting, my thinking maybe they are in the works of enhancing it to accommodatet the ballfield being built. If so hope can extend it to downtown down to tropicana and the airports. The Red Line in Cleveland Ohio managed by RTA that was a great idea to have go directly out to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and the Lakefront path which le ads to Burke Lakefront Airport, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Cleveland Browns Stadium, etc etc. Now that will be a good thing if so.I I love the Monorail as well it is a great connector for the Strip and always have a hopeful vision they will extend it out to the airport.
That guitar tower is going to block the strip views FROM THE ORIGINAL MIRAGE TOWER!! Their own guests will no longer have a strip view... what were once the best rooms at the Mirage will just be a view looking into other people's rooms.
Totally agree with Mark about the Monorail, Did you know.. it actually net 8 million last year. so why can't they make more trains. give it to the chinese to do it they'll do it for cheap. Imagine if they built the guitar tower with the full fret board neck including the tuning knobs, inside customers could take an elevator to a viewing area at the end of the guitar neck.
Love cirque some of the best live performances I’ve seen because of the whole experience . Haven’t seen Mystere but there’s a reason why they bounced back after covid almost took these shows down.
2 enchiladas, $30-ish range? Have we really arrived at peak absurdity of inflation? For that price, they should include 2 shots of Patrón, and a handy in the alley behind the sports book. "Gratuity not included."
The one in FL is huge, I can't wait to stay in this one. I think this is Vegas evolution. Loosing the volcano is sad but it doesn't fit the HR theme. Slot tickets should never expire. This needs to be on the ballot for voting. Absurd that our "redemption" money has an expiration date. Just 1 more way that Casinos are "stealing" from customers.
I think that guitar tower is going to look hideous in comparison to the surrounding properties. It is going to affect TI, and the Venetian’s views. TI views will be blocked completely looking south, and the Venetian has beautiful mountain views from the front rooms of the property. Can see Vegas is starting to cater to the younger crowd. A separate pool says it’s going to be party central. At least they are keeping the nice pool they have behind the Mirage building. I just don’t understand why they have to bring it right up to the street? Some nice landscaping streetside and push the guitar back would look better. It just does not fit with the architecture and vibe of the surrounding area on that part of the strip. On another topic I live in the Northeast and have been seeing Vegas commercials for people to make their summer vacation plan to come to Vegas and “experience the sports capital of the world” (insert rapid series of Fountainblue pictures with all dolled up couples dining, drinking etc.). Pretty safe to assume FB funded the ad, but when did Vegas get rebranded to be “the sports capital of the world”???? The powers that be sure are pushing out what Vegas used to be. It’s really sad imo.
I love the monorail....have always used it from the Link to convention center. I'm sure the typical lazy American would complain though. I hope they keep it going.
I dont hate the guitar tower, but the hard rock as a brand just does not interest me. Unless there is a bar on the top of that tower, i will probably not go there unless i need to walk past. North strip is filling out, but its all boring. Resorts World, Fountaine Bleau, and Hard Rock, meh no real interest there.
why do people not use the monorail more? it grates me, a 3 day pass is 25 bucks unlimited travel ,,,all muppets spend that and more on 1 trip from mgm to westgate,,,,use IT, ITS GREAT
#1 Most people can’t find the monorail, it’s not well marked at any property. #2 The walking distance to the far back of the property, ride, then have to walk all the way back to the front of the property most times takes more steps and time than to just walk the sidewalks. It’s not convenient at all! Especially if you are in the biggest properties. The only time it is worth all that walking to find it is if you are going from one end of the strip to the other end of the strip.
it does not cost casino a dime to have the money on their books, that they owe you, if anything, you are giving the casino a loan,,,,,,,,,,interest free,,,,,,so if you cash in your voucher in 5 years, you just loaned the casino money, at no interest, for 5 damn years
I think they just want discourage people leaving tickets but it is money in their pocket even if it’s only 25%. I agree they should give you much longer than 30 or 60 days. 6 months (the old standard) seems much more reasonable.
Man..that Hard Rock model looks like something cobbled together in Grandma’s basement…..check out that couch! Is this actually a to-scale exact model or someones inept fantasy hobby project that was randomly posted online?? From an architectural standpoint - the dimensions are horribly, horribly wrong….
What do you think about the model of the new Hard Rock Guitar Tower?
i think the guitar is cool it just sucks that it comes at the expense of the volcano

I did not like the guitar tower at first but after it's built when you drive north on the strip it will block out Trump hotel and that makes me happy.

LUXOR is still a wondrous site to behold driving into Vegas. Looking forward to the infinite guitar string lights
Luxor is bottom of the barrel nowadays. That’s why u can easily get comped up to 4 nights there and Excalibur
MGM ruined Luxor, and turned down the brightness of the light. AND they use the sides of the pyramid as f****** billboards now. Blasphemy!!!

Mirage better keep Shin Lim
I know his tickets aren’t on the schedule past July but I didn’t see a specific announcement.
Monorail.. Monorail.. Monorail...
Too much noise in Vegas now.
I love the monorail....have always used it from the Link to convention center. I'm sure the typical lazy American would complain though. I hope they keep it going.
I’ve always been a fan but adding the airport would make it a no-brainer.
Totally agree. I almost believe it would be so successful it would overwhelm the monorail.
You look so handsome with your fresh cut and shave 😎🤭😘😘😘
What about #wynnwest and #tilmanfertitta #lasvegas

it does not cost casino a dime to have the money on their books, that they owe you, if anything, you are giving the casino a loan,,,,,,,,,,interest free,,,,,,so if you cash in your voucher in 5 years, you just loaned the casino money, at no interest, for 5 damn years
I think they just want discourage people leaving tickets but it is money in their pocket even if it’s only 25%. I agree they should give you much longer than 30 or 60 days. 6 months (the old standard) seems much more reasonable.
First!

A little too big for me
Man..that Hard Rock model looks like something cobbled together in Grandma’s basement…..check out that couch! Is this actually a to-scale exact model or someones inept fantasy hobby project that was randomly posted online?? From an architectural standpoint - the dimensions are horribly, horribly wrong….
Maybe they could talk to Elon Musk. He could modify some Teslas to run on the track. If any one can he could
