- Joe Cocker & Marti Pellow (Wet Wet Wet) performing With A Little Help From My Friends at the Prince's Trust Rock Gala on 6 June 1988 (broadcast on 23 June 1988) at the Royal Albert Hall with The Midge Ure All Star Band including Queen's Brian May on guitar, Howard Jones on keyboards and Phil Collins and Mark Brzezicki (from Big Country) on drums and The Eric Clapton All-Star Band including Elton John on piano and Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler on guitar. RIP Joe Cocker, 22 December 2014.
SIMPLY AMAZING 😉 XX
I was lucky enough to have seen joe and I can honestly say hey blew everyone away his voice...power control and such depth they'll never be another like him a true true legend may he rest in eternal peace 🙏 😢
Brian may's riff at the beginning is everything to me
Brian May, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Alan Clark, Rick Astley, Elton John, Katie Kisson, Gibson, Tesa Niles etc...
Some of the best artists and session musicians of their generation, all British. Can you imagine trying to do this these days let alone do another Live Aid? Impossible. And this is how we know the music is cack today!
I was genuinely blown away at an Anastacia concert in 2004. Amazing, WHAT a singer & great songs. Went to her mixed show 'Here Come The Girls' in 2010 with Heather Small & Lulu. Then Anastacia in 2016. Despite having recovered form two bouts of breast cancer before the '04 & '16 concerts, Anastacia was INCREDIBLE live! Uses a lot of improv, no miming!
COOOOOOOOOOL)) never seen this before! BRAVO MARTI)

talk shite
He did it better than this further down the line because you forget he was still so young here had a lot to learn and improve on and with age he has
I taped this off the TV on VHS tape. Such a long time ago but so fun to watch now
Becky M. Uma pena que Marti estava completamente drogado por cocaína
Oh my God can remember taping this so long ago now xx
Marti holds his own with the great (& greatly missed Joe Cocker). i miss you so much our Joe
Wow my two of my favourite singers together. Love it. Fae Bonnie Scotland too. X 💗
First time I've seen this Davina, martn is funny isn't he XX I was only five at the time this says 1988 , I wish I could meet him though X
@@lomaxx27
Did you ever get to meet Marti.?
Sorry I just saw your comment. X 🎶💜
Joe made this his song. So much characters and emotion in his voice.
Joe Cocker turns to applaud all the friends and Pellow starts dancing for the crowd.
I want more of Joe Cocker and am having trouble finding it. Can anyone out there with private films share them with the folks who remaster and post them?
Saw Marti Pellow at festival 2 Concert in Lynn's Kynn, Norfolk last night sat 13/7/19. He was absolutely brilliant also the band so impressed.😁👍Thanks for a great eve & a performance to never forget. You come across as such a nice down to earth guy who was so gracious & appreciative. No one of us there wanted it to end & were so very pleased when they carried on for a further 30 mins. A night to remember thank you. 😁👍😀😁
Wow.. How žany Legends.. I"m seen in this video.. Of course John Cocker.. Marti Pelow.. Eric Clapton.. Bee Gees.... And Another Legends... Another Wow... ✨💜✨
Que maravilha! Grande encontro de grandes talentos e meu querido e inesquecível Joe Cocker!
marti.... i love what you have done in this song !
Gigantisch die beiden, ❤😊
Mind rajta van aki számit az angol rock-pop világban !!!Fenomenális !!!!
wow...some great people there!
Go Marti, saw you in Chelsea last week. Fabulous....as usual
Rod Thorpe sounds like you might be a little jealous😂😂
😍 love you Marti xxx the Boss x
Cool, never seen that, before ! Some great artists ! Especially my favs, which include Marti Pellow & Brian May !!!!!
Real very good music legendes i love it .
i saw this at the time, its fabulous.still gives me goose bumps.
2 legends together! If Marti ever had to prove to the critics, then this is the proof!
lol Marti sucked
Occasion got the better of him!
Pellow was embarrassing.
Brian had to re-record his guitar intro because no one recorded his guitar. He went into the mixing van the day after and laid it down for the DVD.
It was the whole song actually, not just the intro. He recorded all of it the next day. It's a shame, but it explains why May's "live" guitarwork sounds so great throughout.
Some legends of music....and Marti Pellow.
Marti 😍😍😍😍😍 what a beautiful voice...
Abouloutly love theses legends xox👍💕
I didn't spot Phil Collins on drums for this song 🤔 Did I miss him?
I saw Ferrone & Brzezicki & at the onset I think it was Ure peeking between cymbals.
I'll have to watch again.
Sensacional simples assim
Some serious jaw swinging from Marti Pellow 😂😂 off his face 😳
I love Marti Pellow voice!!
Its Joes song, nobody can better him, Martin tried but could not!
Renajim Kelly the beatles originally but joe cocker made it his own
Renajim Kelly it's ringo's song but joe and marti both did great versions
heroehat It was written by Lennon & McCartney, sung by Ringo Starr on The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album in 1967 and released as a single by Joe Cocker in 1968, before Wet Wet Wet released their version as a single in 1988. :)
+Renajim Kelly If you wanna be nice you can say he tried but couldn't. I'd say he ruined the entire permormance when trying to show off in front of the big boys. He shouldn't got the chance to sing in the first place.
AND of course they got this to No 1, Nice one ESTHER, STAY FRIENDLY : 0 )
♥️ a beautiful song
Marti's scream.. epic 🤣
YEAH!
The reason Marty Pellow sounded so bad was because it was done in the key Joe sang it in. Wet wet wet recorded it in a totally different key for Pellows voice
Get your ears tested he was brilliant
Gordon fair I like pellow’s voice but in this performance it didn’t fit .
what did you say??? :)) martin was brillant!!!!!!!!!!! pleaseee.. I loved this version!!!!
@@gordonfair3237 , specifically, 1:04 , when he sings "Lend me your ears"... very bad. Ironically, the next line is "...and I'll try not to sing out of key".
@@gordonfair3237 , also, he sang the wrong lyrics at 2:00
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Show!!!!
a WOW moment.....
Cocker power rocks
I was worried I got Rick Rolled at 2:43
❤️
Marti is chewing his jaw off when he starts to sing full of ecstasy without a doubt
No need for that comment
@@melissajpope8249 why what's wrong with my comment he would say himself he was mad wae it
@@alanmccoll9631 was having a moment, all good xoxo
Cocaine, no éxtasis..
Sniff.
Gigantisch 🎼👍
@mary maughan-otten If Marti still gets to perform on sold out venues i'm happy for him not envy at all. Maybe it's wrong to judge someone after only one single performance and he might be one awesome singer i'm not the right guy to tell. Still he didn't do a good job here in my opinion maybe he was like "too excited" when singing this song with Joe.
Paul- Hey Ringo , I wrote this song for you , it is easy to sing
Cocker- Hold my LSD
At 3:51, Barry Gibb, a background singer
Marti is mad wae the auld sweeties
Muito bom
😱😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
For everyone judging Marti Pellow’s performance you are all unfair, plus go listen to this version of the wets in glasgow green in 1989 and we’ll talk about it after 🙃 m.ruclips.net/video/Ck-JRtwppyI/видео.html
Marti Pellow has a really great soulful voice but this is Joe Cockers version of the song
But Marti was choiosen to sing with him :) and this version is amazing.. i fact the best!
2:44 Rick Astley appears playing drums
I’ll never understand… you all know what I’m talking about 🤦🏻♂️
The real reason they duetted here was because you all seem to have forgotten that Wet Wet Wet did a version of Joe Cockers song for Children In Need so he probably asked to sing with pellow but could've sung half the song with Joe Cocker singing his version then Marti taking over with his version which i think would have worked better!
No. The real reason they duetted was Joe Cocker was down to sing it alone. But Wet tosser Pellow kicked up about it, demanding to also sing it, and caused a bad atmosphere.
Too bad Pellow over-sings and desperately tries to do something original because of the huge pressure of being side by side with Big Joe. It is nearly impossible to catch Marti singing out of tune, but this time he is (which is quite ironic if one listens to the song lyrics). ^^
To be fair, it was only for a few seconds at the beginning of the song. Don’t be mean, Adrian.
Although, I’m not too sure where the “think of the children” thing came from.
@@StinkyTheSquid2 Don't be mean?
He's meant to be a professional singer and f*cking wrecked it, after demanding to share the vocals with Joe Cocker.
@@StinkyTheSquid2 It wasn't only at the start of the song, and he sang the wrong words too. You don't understand the "Think of the children" reference?!! Says it all.
Marti Pellow seem to be trying to mimic Joe Cocker. He's a great singer in his right. He should have just sang the song.
Mark is obviously ripping the pish at the end
Should just let Joe sing Marti
What?,?,????? I'm dying
joe cocker was like the white louis armstrong
Needed Ringo
Yep
Marti hated this, And I don’t blame him. However I think it was a great ending to a great show.
Don’t know the other guy, I guess his name is Marti Pellow, but he’s trying way too hard. Joe Cocker is great, Pellow comes across as a lightweight
At 2:00min he sang realy good. But '88 he was to young to have enough experience to sing his own way next to Big Joe. So you can see at the end, that he knows it. He was just to young. Five years later he would have been strong enough!
He sang the wrong words at 2:00
Yeah i agree and he must have felt a bit intimidated by Joe as it was his baby he had the killer voice and knew how to sing it and was a master of the ballads because when Pellow and the other Wets recorded their version for Children In Need it was more upbeat and playful but further down the line he had a richer more powerful voice and nailed those ballads with Wet Wet Wet like Love Is All Around Goodnight Girl etc he was trying too hard here and ended up shouting and also singing out of tune it was painful to listen to
Togliendo l’inutile dei wet sarebbe buona
shit ..pellow screams like a ten year old at the dentist
adey sykes hahahaha yesss
I think this performance from pellow put him back on heroin
The younger guy ruins this 😢
????? what do you say??? He s Marti!!! ha has a beautiful voice sir!
Who in the world made the big time bad decision of letting Marti sing this tune with Joe Cocker with this arrangement??? That person must have been out of his/her mind at that time. Did his father or some close relative work within the production?? He ruins the entire performance with absolutely zero feeling and timing what so ever!!! My friend reminded me of this horrible performance today, had totally repressed it. It's clearly here that he's a wannabe...he thinks he can nail it when he get to play with the big boys but he does everything but nails it. After he made a fool of himself i guess the big boys weren't so intrested in working with him. Regardless who let him sing surely must have regretted it when heariing. No one but Joe Cocker is allowed to sing this arrangement and since he's gone well stick with Ringo's version.
+Daniel Olson And yet he is still hitting the big stadiums. You seem a little envious. He had played with the big boys who are where??? oh yes, somewhere in oblivion
This was not a Wet Wet Wet or Marti Pellow concert, wasn't a Joe Cocker concert. It was everyone coming together for what I assume was a bit of fun at the end. Marti Pellow IS one of the "big boys" you fool! He's had MASSIVE success both with the band and on his own. Was he massively buzzed here and not delivering a flawless vocal? Yes, but who the FUCK cares?? No one except this guy in the RUclips comments with a stick crammed so far up his arsehole I'd be surprised if he could walk.
They should have all walked out.....pellow was out of tune on the 1st line.
That's the idea 🙄
First line of coke 😂😂😂
pellow sounded awfull making stupid sounds with his voice all the way the song, Cocker owns it SINGING less notes but full of passion
what did you say? hahaha marti was and still a marvellous singer!!! dejate de decir huevadas queres.. dale!
@@monicabeatrizferreiro6163 of course he is brilliant even today!! i just don't like his vocal job on THIS one.
This Marti clown is out of key and making a fool of himself...wish it was only legendary Joe Cocker on vocals.
Sorry Marti! That was VERY outta key!! Should have stayed on the melody here
DRUGS
Marti Pellow cant sing
he can't sing. Absolutely awful bad
Yea he was out of tune big time nerves?
coolnamebro MP used to be a great singer, his voice is clapped out now. Very damaged.
Not as good as the Wonder Years Version.
Pellow wrecked this. He caused a bad atmosphere, demanding to also be allowed to share the song with Joe Cocker, then couldn't deliver the goods. What a prat.
Wet wet wet did a great version of this song. Had Joe done www version. He would have sounded bad and before you start I'm certainly not knocking Joe. Just different styles.
@@paulmidgley8040 I do know their version. It was in the charts, and was annoying to most of us. I can see Pellow singing it right now, with his irritating insincere smile.
Well that's your opinion fella. Alot of people also liked wet wet wets version plus it was for charity. You sound a bit grumpy mate. cheere up lad it may never happen eh?
@@paulmidgley8040 Yes... that is my opinion. Obviously people liked it, if it charted. But if it was that great, you wouldn't be defending it saying it was for charity 🤡
@@paulmidgley8040 Grumpy? You sound a bit like a homosexual. We can all take bad guesses on here, dippy 🤡
