- A quick ride though Barstow, Ca and some very cool history facts. Come take a ride through Barstow, California. Known as the Hub of the West ! Come see the famous Harvey House, Visit a train station with a Mc Donalds inside ! Take in the view of the Mojave Desert, take a step back from the hustle and bustle.

My grandpa and grandma lived there when I was a kid in Big Bear, my aunt as well and those are some of my best memories going there for summer break and spring break my grandpa and grandma would buy me toys to take home and toys to keep at their house and my school clothes. I live in Yucca Valley now and once in a while I go out to Barstow just to go for a ride on my HD Road Glide Ultra and have some great memories come back. Thank you for the video
Thank you, we lived here on the USMC base and later in town for a few years, good memories of when Barstow was a thriving town

I lived there 1974 to 1978 and worked at the marine base owned a house in dagget you actually drove by a duplex i lived in 1974 FJB

Thanks for the look back. I drove into Barstow 2 years ago. Checked out the train station & the closed museum. Would consider another visit one day.

My dad worked on communications with spacecraft, etc that you mentioned. I was born in Barstow. Sante Fe all the way!

You mentioned McDonalds and Dunkin and drove past Del Taco but didn't talk about how they started in the area and the 3 locations are still owned by the original founder's family , they have menu items found nowhere else and rumor has it they use better quality ingredients than the rest of the chain.
I've driven right past Barstow many times, never had the desire to stop. This video is interesting in that it's all, "in 1880 blah blah blah", "in 1910 blah blah blah" "Gee, they have a McDonalds and even a Dunkin' Donuts". If you want to visit Hell, Barstow is a great option.
I lived there from 2013 to 2019. If you like California but don't like California traffic, then Barstow would work for you. Also your in the middle of Vegas and LA.

Stop at lenwood McDonald's it's a little cleaner
I worked with a country band at a night club there, back in the 90’s.
The woman who ran the club, was essentially a ‘madam’ and many of the cocktail waitress were her ‘working girls’.
She also owned a couple of motels within walking distance from the club, where her ‘girls’ could ply their trade….
The money flowed like water….

Right before the 1et street bridge is the original Del Taco restaurant the real one was in yermo the bridge is soon to be replaced.
Is there a mural of the McDonald's Massacre? If so, I'll go to Barstow, and eat at the McDonald's resturaunt that burned down.
It's fun! Crime rate is through the roof.
It has gotten worse in the last five years or so. It used to be much quieter.
Yea it's a boring place really except for calico ghost town . I don't know if it's still there. But that was fun
Stopped at a hotel 25 years ago in Barstow. My truck & trailer were stolen and set on fire by a local meth head who had an extensive criminal record. The cops treated me like I was the criminal! Haven't been back...

He says Dunkin donuts came in 2013, only the 2nd in California? I frequented a Dunkin in orange county in the early 80s and there were many others. Did they pull out only to return? I know of two Dunkins in long beach now.
The first humans came to North America around 13,000 years ago so your statement about 200,000 year old archeological findings is a little off. Homo sapiens is around 200,000 years old.
Well if you want a good lunch go about 30 miles more out to yermo get off yermo road the second one marked yermo rd and come down to that stop sign turn right and you will see Jack in the box turn left on that road when you see Vegas gas half way down you will see Peggy Sue's its has a lot of 50"s items. But also pretty good food. I recommend the pattymelt
