I always check over my trailer 100% every time before it rolls out on a road trip. I also clean and grease the hubs every year. Tires get correct air pressure checked monthly and automatically replace the tires every 5 years. Tires are always covered when not in use because Arizona sun is killer on tires. I have also made a storage box where the wire harness for the power to the trailer lights is out of the weather. My trailer is 24 years old, and I’d take it across the country anytime.
I always check the tires and oil before and after every trip. I had way too many expensive mistakes when I was younger 😂 . Hope you guys are having a great day ❤️❤️💯🤙🏼
I have a 18ft car hauler with 15" wheels with 10-ply tires and it sits in the driveway a lot now that I sold my buggie (My profile picture). But I do still use it and before any trip I check the tire pressure and look them over for anything out of place. If the pressure is the same or very close to what it was last time I know my tires should not have any leaks. If it is way low, I will look for a nail or what every it may be. I also do a walk around inspection and when I hook it up I check my lights. I had to replace a tail light a month ago because it was not working right. I also pull the axles and grease the bearings in the fall, this also tells me if the axle nut is still tight enough. I also keep it painted and clean so it does not look like a beat up POS, helps to avoid DOT stopping you when your trailer looks new. My trailer is 6 years old and looks almost new, just did a repaint on it this spring. I used to have a 2005 Jeep Liberty diesel and that was a fun little Jeep to have and wish I still had it. The most fun was pulling up to a diesel only pump and seeing peoples reactions, but never had that person say "Hey that is diesel pump" LOL. The 3.7L gas engines are know for problems with valve seats and pistons rings, they are basically junk engines. So I hope they will all be okay.
Marketplace is so hit or miss. there are quite a few people who are very upfront, chill and easy to work with, and then there’s some straight up shade balls. With both buying or selling.
I have an rv and any time you stop always give a glance/inspect the obvious, when it has weight the trailer acts one way, when it’s empty it does another, families, individuals, drivers are around you that trust YOU have done all the correct things to be along side them. Please always check your load and stay safe for you and others around you, big boy toys come with big boy problems / responsibilities. Keep up the great vids and always stay safe 🍖🍻
I’m Retired Truck Driver with 3 million miles safe Miles . I believe there is no short cuts on Highway Safety. I have seen the results of blown Tire accidents with Motorcycle running over tire debris and then injuries.
I wish we did more to our trailers. Like custom paint and body matching the car we put on. But we already struggle enough to find the money for these 😅😅
Nice thing about those type of tires are they are regroovable, so you probably have another 1/4 inch or more of tread depth that you don't see. So there is quite a bit more rubber before you hit the cord.. And I'd say 80% don't service their trailers like they should..
Yeah - It'll be fine! Long drives, bad tires. For Liberty skid plates, what about finding fans' Libertys with skids and copy them? I'm sure you know fabricators who could copy the originals...! Thanks for taking us along. LiteBriteNationTakesLibertys!
Check your trailer before EVERY trip! My single car hauler I let go a few trips... and that cost me a lot to repair. The equalizers, bushings, all the straps connecting them wallowed out, bearings went bad as a result.... it was an expensive mistake. When I got the 40ft gooseneck I now check it before every trip, and during every trip. And tires - don't let those get sun rotted in our 100*+ heat! Sidewalls will blister and go boom, or if you are on a tight turn and they are sun rotted they will blow when they scuff the asphalt. That happened on Douglas Pass in CO, it sucked.
The inner tire wearing diagonal latter feather is because your tire pressure are waaaay off. That is the biggest killer tires on tandems . Gotta checked every trip (and note your DOT stamp on the tire for age . Liability value past 5year of age get rid of them , even though they should last longer the insurance liability is a hidden risk)
Huge fan of the liberty!!!! If you want skids.... find a liberty renegade edition. they are the ones that come with factory skids, the other models don't. I had a limited, and found skids in a junk yard from a renegade. The gas tank skid is a must to find! Those tanks are weak plastic.
I pull a 35' GN with 2-12K Axles and I check the torque on the lug nuts and maintain tire pressure at 100psi on the G rated tires. I have a suspension with adjustable track arms and I aligned the axles for parallel and also triangulated to the gooseneck. This trailer pulls very straight and doesn't wear tires. I also replace tires if the reach 5 years of age.
I have the Hercules 1/2 inch impact gun. Works for almost everything I use it on as far as Breaking free Torque goes. I can usually get through about 12 tire changes on that middle size battery
I know with the 2nd Gen Liberty. Bone stock it was able to do beginning trials with some sliding and scrapping. With the same lift set up as your 5k Red one. RC full kit.. 31" tires... JBA arms.. it does the Blue trails with no issues. Just putting it out there..
I check tire pressure every trip, grease the bearings once a year or before a long trip and I check the bearings preload every few trips to see if they have any play. I my trailer purchased used from a friend and had new brakes on both axles so I haven't checked them yet because they work too well.
On long trips, I check the tires on every gas stop, I also take a infrared temperature gun from harbor freight with me to check the temps of each wheel, If a wheel bearing is starting to fail or a brake is needing maintenance the temp will be much higher than the others.
I maintain my trailer once a year. Check brakes, grease bearings, etc. I used to check tire psi every trip, but since the 18 ply, I just visually check for a bubble. 😂
I drop off the trailer for a service every 5k miles. They check everything, tires, brakes and grease the hubs. G rated tires for the win. Piece of mind to focus on the trails 👍
I check tire pressure every trip. *once a month roughly* Make sure tires aren’t cracking. And greasing hubs about once a year. Which is only 12 trips or less
Hi Kevin, when I used to sand drag race I had a two axle trailer. It would handle the rig and an ATC or 2. We would check it over but yes we ran the wheels off if without alot of care. It was primo when I bought it. We used to drag the thing out into the Pismo dunes back in my day. We had a small genny on the tongue and an air compressor too. Anyway at one point we actually broke one the leaf springs. We wound up blocking it up with a chunk of wood to get home. Luckily we just had my Sand Jeep ( Crazy Horse) not the heavier Bronco drag car. I think it only weighed like 1800lbs so not real heavy. That was one of my trailer tales (from the 70s!) I have other odd stories, like leaving for Pismo, driving a half hour, then deciding to take a nap in the camper for an hour lol. Cheers. PS not a fan of Harbor Freight. Buy good tools.
Your trailer can be changed harbor freight battery impact . I’ve owned many tandems and many larger class units . I’m meticulous with trailers and drive units . Personally and working units . You gotta break them free few times a year to save yourself the headache of inconvenience. Separately Hard wire heavy gauge to trailer brakes , always check the bearings and if you ever buy another trailer go with oil bath lubrication . Always purchase tandem dual trailers and try and get 14 k axles disk
The 3 main things that people have issues with trailers are: lug nuts not torqued and wheels come off, tires low on air pressure and the tire heats up and blows, bearings not properly set or greased and bearings go out. If you do nothing else, constantly check these things.
Too bad you weren't looking for a Liberty 9yrs. ago, sold my 2005 one owner with 128K 3in lift, full skids, 6sp manual 3.7 & was still running like a charm!
The problem with 02 to 05 KJ it has the first gen 3.7 . You can tell by looking at the valve covers . If they are made of metal it is first gen engine . If it has plastic covers it is a second gen . The problem is dropping valve seats and eating the engine. 06 to 07 has the better engine and brake lock diffs and traction control..👍
Poor Kevin we knew him well. He went insane buying jeeps and was never seen again. But Britney did buy a shinny new shovel. And is living in comfort. Ok now I'm just kidding but I still wouldn't want to be Kevin when he tells her what he's been doing! Something tells me Kevin's gonna go broke getting Chris to help him with this insanity! Cash up front Chris!
My trailer sits in the driveway growing a green film until i need to use it. Then i power wash it clean and pretend the 13 year old tires are still "good" because they have tread on them. lol
I got one those given to me I'll check see if it has the skid plate in morning, I'm taking it apart for parts for mother in law jeep , it runs just got valve cover leak. I'll fix that when I pull engine out.
Being I have a cdl I check mine a lot.. and if u know how to use tire irons.. tires aren’t bad.. also probably need to replace some bushings.. and air pressure
Everytime I drive it trailers are dangerous if not taking care of them yes that's why they have problems checking tire pressure are the number one reason you have blow outs
Maybe bad shock on the trail if you make a U Turn it's hard on the tires set of tires slide in the turn if you replace on tire on the axle change the other one as well so the be the same size so one tire don't carry more weight then the other tire keep the best tire for a spare tire you should check the lug nuts before you hit the road the oil in the axel make sure it's full of gear oil some have a cap you can remove you fill it up until oil comes back out you know it's full maybe change the oil every year or two probably have electric brake should self adjust some time you got to adjust them until you feel the drag from the shoe on the brake Drum should be a control for the brakes in the cab you can adjust the setting
So many issues could cause that tire wear trailer alignment tire pressure and if you change a tire and put a brand new on next to an old one your brand new one will look the same at about 150 mi
Oh Kevin....🤦🏼♂️ You're definitely getting yourself in too deep bro....😂 So much so, starting to feel bad for Britney, must be getting mad at this point. Lol
Kevin actually with a high mileage vehicle its ok to change the tranny fluid & filter. DO NOT FLUSH IT!!!! Flushing it will break all the crud up and ko the tranny.
I got the dewalt DF900 (about the same specs) for the same price with battery and charger. $270 | Also, I think 5k for that red Liberty is a pretty good deal with the mods it has
You have likely already found any parts for these vehicles that you were looking for, but for what it is worth, another RUclipsr, SarahnTuned, likes to visit a Pick and Pull place near them in Tucson, Arizona. In their videos when they visit there, it seems to have a nice variety of vehicles.

16:00 If you are servicing a transmission with that many miles, take it to a professional transmission shop, not your quickie lube, and tell them to DROP THE TRANSMISSION PAN. I mean I see them under SXS category but biggest size is like 35x9x15R 🤔 - Is a USA thing or a pro version, or even a sponsorship exclusively thing?? Thank you so much
I dont pull a trailer religiously but it will need to be serviced eventually anyway so why wouldnt it make sense to just do it and avoid any possible issues ahead of time?
From brand new if your transmission pan house a drain plug the pan mite hold 3.qt drain that out overy 5000 miles add another 3 qt this way your transmission oil don't become black always fresh oil transmission oil not many do a full service that be like 8 QT or gallon of oil
As a truck driver, I check my trailers every trip! Even my personal trailer.
