    Hi hope everything is fine. I am happy now when talking about the great band Zebra. One of my favorite 3 piece bands,the other is Triumph & Rush. I like Zebra's third album most,but all is good. Rock on and have a good weekend😊

      Hello! Everything is as OK as can be here... :) And thank you for the nice words! I feel the world needs to know about Zebra! And I love those 2 three-piece bands you also mentionned! Thank you for your comments!

    Yes, Dan, I remember seeing the eye-ball video on MTV back in the day! I probably have it on a VHS tape somewhere.

    Since I lived in New Orleans for so long, I was well aware of Zebra. One cool story, before their first album was even recorded, my best friend & I were riding around in a car with a friend of his from his high school, and that guy had a bootleg of Zebra. It was noisy & fuzzy, since in those days the more times you recorded a copy from a copy, the worse the sound got until by several generations old, the tapes were garbage. Years later when Zebra's 2nd album (No Tellin' Lies) was released and we were listening to it for the first time, we suddenly both looked at each other and said, "Wasn't that song on that tape we heard that night?" It was "Wait Until the Summer's Gone," & we heard it before they even had a record deal!

      I LOVE when you know a band in their early days and then find out you owned a song wayyyyyyyy before it became popular... THAT makes you feel like a SUPER-FAN (in my mind anyway) :)

    Brian Tichy was in Pride And Glory with Zakk Wylde. Sadly, they only released one album, but it is EXCELLENT if either of you don't have it yet! One of only a handful of CDs I've bought twice -- when they released the 2-disc version with cover songs on the 2nd CD. I'd love to find the Randy Jackson CD, as well as Zebra IV. Hope those get remixed & re-released.

      Brian Tichy was/is in Dead Daisies also... I did check after we filmed the episode :) And yes, I did own Pride and GLory on CD at the time... not sure what happened to it though... I'd love to try and find it again! :) Thanks for reminding me!

    Second cool story is that Zebra once played a show RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY HOUSE! What??? It was a Catholic CYO dance and they were the band that night. But with me being poor (and cheap), I didn't go in when I saw tickets were three dollars! (Keep in mind, in those days major acts sometimes charged under $10, and a good bar band probably charged $3-$5.) The good part, however, was they played so loud that all my friends from the neighborhood gathered in a baseball park right next to the school & we heard the show for free -- we just didn't SEE them! Plus we also got to pass 32-oz beers around that way, which wouldn't have happened at the CYO dance. 'Twas a great show!

      @offthecharts2272  2 месяца назад

      Hahahahahaha! Thats great! :) What does CYO mean though? I like concerts from time to time which you can hear and not see... got some kind of coolness to it!

    • @UncleDaffy313
      @UncleDaffy313 2 месяца назад +1

      CYO means Catholic Youth Organization. They had social gatherings, like dances and so forth, but this one had a live band, not just a stereo system. Zebra obviously was a brand new band I hadn't heard before, but I sure remembered the name after that night. They had a good PA system, too, so the sound was great outside, and apparently a good light show, as we could see the color flashes through the top windows surrounding the gymnasium.

    On my list of bands to investigate further. With the way the videos are placed together it almost looks like you are both in the same room.

      We have to do a show with you and Keith all in the same room. Hopefully you can find all of the albums in NZ they aren't expensive here but shipping would be terrible.

    Pretty unknown band for my part of the world as well. Just checking the price to buy their C.D's , and
    they are pretty costly. Maybe the re-issued albums you were talking about.

      Really? THey are costly? I didnt pay too much for them myself... and I'm sure KEvin can get them even cheaper... :)
      A lot of ppl think they sound like LZ... there are small times, but not really for me...

    Kevin, since you're from New Orleans, did you get the 1981 WRNO Rock Album? There were actually two of them, but the first one in 1981 was better. It gave garage bands across the city a chance to get a song out on vinyl, and to also get played on that radio station. I think Persia (formerly called Royal Orleans) was the contest winner with, "Hustling In Hollywood" (you could vote for your favorite). But my favorite was from a band called Roulette, and their song was, "Without a Second Chance."

    • @UncleDaffy313
      @UncleDaffy313 2 месяца назад +2

      Oops, my memory is failing. Roulette's song was, "Without a Second Thought." (I knew it was something like that.) 🥴

      I remember they had something but I was 9 or 10 in 1981, so I wasn't quite to the point where I was getting any music accept what was on the radio. WRNO was great, album hour was the best I taped so many albums off of the radio.

      Yup, I taped many albums myself, and I first heard Chicago Transit Authority on their album hour!

    You guys got some good coverage but kinda flubbed it on what happened to Zebra. They were burned by Atlantic is what happened. RESEARCH before podcasting!

    • @SONIC-BOOM-TV

      Atlantic may have done that after they were called Led Zeppelin clones.

      Hello! Thanks for the feedback! We do try! Ya, i know they were dropped by Atlantic... just not sure why... poor sales? No promotion? Again, coming from Canada we had ZERO promotion regarding them back in the day... never saw their videos on tv... But lesson learned, and thank you for watching and commenting!

      @@offthecharts2272Atlantic took the money marketing program on hair bands, glam rock. Nowhere near Led Zeppelin clones, not even close, nor true.
