100% agree with the Arcade debut, played that cassette to death during the summer of 93. Calm Before The Storm has such great riffs. That album sounds great in the car.
In the winter of 1995-96, Tesla sold out First Avenue in about 20 minutes. I had to go to some hole in the wall death metal record store to get tickets because everywhere else was sold out. They retained a strong following for years - to this day even. They played the Ryman in Nashville last year, and that's a legendary room. Love the channel Anthony!
I saw them for the first time at the Fargo Civic in '96. Saw them again last summer. STILL a phenomenal live band. Hey, Brother, thanks for the kind words, man! Seriously, Disco, I appreciate it. --Ism ;-)
One I like is Shotgun Messiah's "Violent New Breed." It's a good mix of Second Coming and an industrial sound. Not hair metal by any stretch of the imagination, but still retains a few elements of old Shotgun with Harry Cody's guitar wizardry and no weak spots front to back. Really aggressive and heavy... also, much love to the Saigon Kick accolades. Great no matter what they did.. for the record, Jason Bieler's last name is pronounced "Bee-ler," not "By-ler." You rock Anthony. I love your channel. Keep it up,
@@patrickreeves4650 For sure. I saw them on this tour in a club and they blew me away. This album should have made real waves. One of the most underrated albums of the 90s.
I've listened to that Violent New Breed album, and I usually stay away from industrial stuff, but I really like that record. And I fuckin' LOVE Saigon Kick. Hey, Sean, thanks a lot for supporting the channel, I really do appreciate it.
i truly think that 3 by firehouse was the last album of the genre to produce a top 40 hit with "i live my life for you". none of this genre could crack top 40 in 1995, but firehouse did, and it bounced around in that chart for a good 6 months.
@@HairMetalGuru419 I originally did not really like The Spaghetti Incident when i first heard it with the exception of Hair Of The Dog. But as i grew older and my mind opened up more it grew on me to the point where it is now one of my favorite albums.
Another _killer_ video with Ryan! Just to add some albums I enjoy from this period that weren't mentioned in the vid: Vain "Move On It", Alleycat Scratch "Deadboys in Trash City," Barely Legal "Dirtier Than You", Firehouse "3", Slik Toxik "Irrelevant", Roxx Gang "The Voodoo You Love", Love/Hate "Let's Rumble", Kix "$how Bu$ine$$", Bang Tango "Love After Death" and Tuff "Fist First"
Another great show \m/ 1. Spread Eagle Open To The Public 2. Tesla Bust A Nut 3. Motley Crue MC 4. Saigon Kick Water 5. Sircle Of Silence (Reece) 6. Lillian Axe Psycho... 7. GUN Swagger 8. Tyketto Strength In Numbers 9. Bang Tango Love After Death 10. Warrant Ultraphobic HMs. WASP Still Not Black Enough, Thunder Behind Closed Doors and Skid Row, and also agree that Arcade debut was great!
Great list! I need to revisit GUN and check out that Sircle of Silence album. Hey, man, thanks a lot for supporting the channel, I really do appreciate it.
No order for me here. 1. Poison-Native tongue 2. Arcade-one of the best albums of the decade! 3. L.A. Guns-vicious circle 4. Motley Crue- Corabi album 5. Sister whiskey- Liquor and Poker. Fantastic album! 6. Pariah-To mock a killing bird. This band was from Austin Texas and it is a killer album. 7. Tesla- bust a nut 8. Brother cane- the debut 9. Cinderella- still climbing 10.Bon Jovi- These Days. Took me awhile to get into this one but damn some songs on here can get to your heart and Hey God is a rocker. Can’t believe I didn’t put Vince Neil’s-exposed. Enuff z nuff- animals with human intelligence. Warrant-ultrafobic.GREAT ALBUM! Every mother’s nightmare- wake up screaming.
Never apologize for the love you show to Lillian Axe they were criminally underrated and should have been one of the biggest bands of the era ! My top from 1993 to 1995 would have to be Winger pull but I’m the biggest Winger fan in the world
HI Guru and Ryan, another top notch video. Great to see D2's Cockroach(i thought i was the only one that owned this!)note Cockroach although recorded/ planned to be released in 1993, it was actually released in 2001 due to the record label losing interest in D2 in 1993. Still Climbing also a great comeback for Cinderella, especially "Blood from a stone, just wow!
i remember when Danger Danger got the rights back to Cockroach and put it out in the 2000s as the double cd. Half of the album had come out on Four the Hardway, and Return of the Great Gildersleeve's. Hearing the Poley versions was a trip back then. I had a bootleg of the Poley version, but it was terrible quality.
Great topic, you might have to go to single years after this because 92 has huge releases. Danger Danger, Tesla, Crue, Slaughter, Tyketto and (of course) Warrant are my top for those years so I’m glad you guys mentioned them. Here’s another 5 for ya: POISON - Native Tongue ( this and Crack A Smile are actually my favorite albums from them, MR. BIG - Bump Ahead, EXTREME - Waiting For The Punchline, CHEAP TRICK - Woke Up With A Monster, SAVATAGE - Handful Of Rain (not hair metal but a monster comeback after Criss Olivia’s passing). Than I have 4 albums that are a bit more “southern hair metal” that I absolutely love, BROTHER CANE - S.T., PRIDE & GLORY - S.T. (Zakk serving notice), CRY OF LOVE - Brother and SISTER WHISKEY - Liquor & Poker.
Trust me, this will be the only years that get combined--everything after this will be individual years. I need to revisit Brother Cane and Sister Whiskey. Hey, thanks for always watching and supporting the stuff I do, Craig.
my sophomore year of high school, 1993-1994, cry no more got a ton of radio play on the local rock station in portland oregon, 101kufo. it was awesome to see them getting played along with the hits of all the grunge bands at the time.
I have Badlands Voodoo Highway (Japan) , I found in Okinawa 99 . I also have The Four Horsemen Nobody Said , from that same used Oki store . I used to find a bunch of cheap used CDs over there as a Marine , most had bonus tracks and stuff . I still have my Slaughter Stick It that has an acoustic version of Fly Angels . Several Black Crowes live bootlegs .. miss those days .
@@HairMetalGuru419 Ya . 0311 Infantry , 98 to 06 . Dig the channel , you guys go deep into the scene. I remember coming home on leave , and an old girlfriend of mine took me to The Glam Slam Metal Jam , I think summer of 01 . All day affair , starting at like noon . As the day got later , bands got bigger , Quiet Riot with Dubrow , Warrant with Jani , Cinderella , Vince Solo , then Poison as topper . There were earlier bands like Faster P and I think Bulletboys . Anyways , few months later , everything in our world would change forever , September . I always remember that show , like the true end of my youth ( never so much my innocence) .
Always enjoy a few days away from the screen. Especially when the guru uploads a few hours of content for my enjoyment. Appreciate your work Brother. This period was my middle school, freshman, sophomore year. Great time. I enjoyed the bands of the time right along side my collection of 70s hard rock and "hair metal". I'm a retired by disability network technician so unfortunately can't get out like I used to. But I look on the bright side of things. It affords me the opportunity to still have hair to my waist and play guitar all day. Rock N Roll Brother
I have to agree with Lillian Axe and Warrant. Love your support of Lillian Axe, my favorite band from '89-'93. I saw them in clubs during Love + War, Out of Darkness...and Poetic Justice tours. I also would add Bon Jovi's These Days to the list.
Thanks guys, whilst I was still listening to a lot of these sorts of bands I was full alt-rock and punk by these years. We had so many awesome alternative underground bands going around here in Australia. I did give up on hair metal for a lot of years admittedly, so it is cool to hear some of the stuff I missed.
So cool to hear about Every Mother's Nightmare. I have their debut CD and then could never find anything of theirs. I did not even know they had more music until years later and thought they had split up. Even on streaming there was only debut and a green album. I am going to have to dig into this! Cheers, 7Rock.
So glad that you mentioned Rhino Bucket, I loved all 3 of their 90s albums. Had a chance to see them in 1992. Also glad you mentioned Still Climbing, I always mention that album to anyone that will listen. It came out in 1994 which means it didn't stand a chance but it's a damn shame, for me Still Climbing is right there with the first two. My personal favorite from this era is L.A. Guns "Vicious Circle", again it came out when Still Climbing did so it was never promoted but it's their hardest rocking album in many ways, hell "Killing Machine" is pretty much a thrash song. Great episode!
I LOVE Rhino Bucket. Uggh, such an underrated band. Still Climbing and Vicious Circle are great as well... haven't listened to Killing Machine in forever, might need to revisit that. Hey, man, thanks a lot for supporting the channel, I really do appreciate it.
Ryan!! Arcade rules!! Give Widowmaker "Blood and Bullets" some love ya dorks! haha Get me on here, would love to chop up some obscure hair metal with you guys! - Ty
86 Dee Snyder told the us government at a hearing you can’t kill rock and roll within ten years all the record company’s changed to rap and rock music mostly died..I blame Dee for running his mouth
Alice Cooper's The Last Temptation from 1994 was terrific. Also throw in a good album recorded in 1995 but not released until 2011 was Tora Tora's Revolution Day. You can find that release on FNA Records website. Some good tunes on that one.
@HairMetalGuru419 yeah revolution day was actually 1994 and produced by Tom werman and on A&M Records but never released. I think the version Tora tora released in 2011 was r Pre-production demos...
@@brianm7185 Yes though they worked on them the best they can so it sounds good. A & M records actually have the Masters and I think they were bought by Universal. For some reason they won't give them the Masters (That album was fully done) but the version you can go on and F n A is rather good. Some horns and things on there but still some great southern bluesy hard rock and a few of the songs are grEAT. You also need to check out the Bastards of Beale album released on Frontiers. They also just put out a Best of the Rest album on streaming that has 4 fairly new songs (all of them are terrific) and studio outtakes from their previous albums. It is on streaming now but they are about to release it on CD too.
@@HairMetalGuru419 Check out the Bastards of Beale album and they just put out a Best of the Rest album too with 4 fairly new songs and some studio outtakes.
Vain’s album “move on it” from 1993 is an honorable mention. Perfect mix of alternative rock, grunge, glam metal & 70s groove. Extremely underrated and one of the extremely few glam bands that pulled off the alternative sound.
Axlh-is that the one with no rhythm guitar? I like vain and I always wanted to support them beyond no respect, but there is one I couldn't get on with.
Tesla's Bust A Nut was one of my favorite Tesla albums! I went and saw them on that tour. Frank Hannon was playing without Tommy Scheoch when I saw them live. I guess he was having some really bad drug problems.
Demolition 23 is really a great band. The album is a classic. They're touring again but only in Finland as far as I know. Thank's to the Guru I have now discovered those 90s albums by Winger and Warrant. I think those are the best in their whole catalogs.
every month in the new metal edge i would race to find the RAM Music and Impulse music page where they would list import cd's for sale. That Demolition 23 album always stared back at me as one I wanted. Later in life, when we were able to steal music off Napster in college, I got it. But that was also when I realized how much it took the fun out of music hunting to get it all at the snap of my fingers, with little to no investment in actually taking the time to listen to it. I buy my stuff now, as I enjoy the process of getting it, and truly taking the time to listen to the investment I made in buying their music.
Completely agree on Demolition 23. Hey, Brother, so glad to hear this channel is getting you in to some of these albums. Seriously, that's half the reason I started it.
Super video, so many great albums you showed and talked about. I enjoyed it very much and i never bought the second EVERY MOTHERS NIGHTMARE album but i just did. Thankssss.
Dude, that's part of the reason why I do this... to hear that people are getting turned on to some of these albums I love is amazing. Thank you so much for the kind words and watching, I really do appreciate it.
bon jovi -these days is an album that is lost among the bon jovi story. i remember going to buy it on release day from that cd warehouse in portland oregon, and they had no display for it, and unless you knew it was coming out, you never would have seen or heard of it. i popped it in my discman and listened to it twice in the time it took to get home. i was shocked at how it was so slow and different from anything they did before. here we are 30 years later, and that may be my favorite bon jovi album. the songwriting is killer and songs like if that's what it takes, something to believe in, and hearts breaking even stand tall among their catalog. but in music circles, and among their fans, it is almost always forgotten.
Hello guru, do you like warrior soul? I know they were quite famous but I always thought they should have got up there with skid row. they even had a ballad!
Interesting video, personally I love the Corabi fronted Crue album and The Scream album is an absolute banger. Secondly I prefer Michael Monroe's post Hanoi output over Hanoi. Lastly Warrant are criminally underated I absolutely love the first 4 albums

Gotta check out that Danger Danger album from '93. Thanks for the recommendation! Have you guys heard of the album Envision by the band Parish? It's a really solid album with a progressive heavy metal sound. It came out in 1995, I believe.
Lillian Axe is definitely one of the most underrated rated bands of that Era. They were great songs, great live and Ron Taylor has one of the best voices and is a great performer .
Anthrax Sound of White Noise in the early mid 90’s was a killer album! Yes they changed a bit and got a new singer (John Bush Armored Saint is and was killer!) to try and blend into the grunge scene a bit, but still a metal album in its DNA. They did it really well, and it stands up today💪
the john bush era of anthrax was VERY strong, and very good. the downfall was the constant bashing of the joey-era that they felt they had to do. that created quite a division among their fanbase. sound of white noise was a killer record, and stands among the best releases of the 90's in my opinion. there isn't a bad song, and there is something for everyone on that record. stomp 442 was also amazing, but if you weren't a fan that already knew it was coming, you never would have seen it. that album came out on elektra, a major label, but had zero promotion at the time. the latter output of the bush era was hit and miss...but i hope someday that they can find a common ground and possibly do a special tour and play those songs again. they truly found a unique sound there...
dear god...that is a great idea. there were a ton, and most were garbage. the 2nd wildside album, the dangerous toys did one. dokken, enuff z nuff, vince neil (carved in stone was pretty grungy) all went down that road. warrant has been talked to death about for their change in ultraphobic and belly 2 belly, but the lesser known one's are the fascinating ones. then you look at the "industrial" one's like stephen pearcy's band vertex, or the newlydeads from taime downe (which wasn't terrible), shotgun messiah...all went industrial. you can't find another time in music where a style became so hated and alienated that hundreds of artists were forced to try to grasp onto another style for survival...maybe disco...but i can't think of disco artists that tried to go rock, or whatever else to survive.
Have you guys heard John Corabi's first band's album? Please check out The Scream. It is awesome. I reckon you will like it, especially 'Outlaw' but there is some slower ones on there for you too ;) Also, you heard his stuff with Ace Frehley - called Union.
@@HairMetalGuru419 You are welcome man, I love watching your videos, they are very entertaining !! . Guardian is a great christian metal band, not as big as Stryper or Whitecross but they have some good albums.
Just wondered what you think of steel panther? I know the songs are way more than tongue and cheek but bukkake tears is so 80s hair metal and I love it but can't play it too loud!!! Haha
My two favorite albums from this era are Wake Up Screaming and Fear No Evil. Even though Wake Up Screaming didn’t sell super well, House of Pain charted very well on the rock charts, had a well produced MTV video, and were still on a major label in 1993. According to Slaughter, Fear No Evil sold 450,000 records or so in 1995. Like many records, it was never certified because the industry didn’t care.
Just curious what your thoughts are on slaughter's Fear no evil album which came out in 1995 I think it's right up there with Ultraphobic your thoughts?
Love this channel. I sub. Curious…did you like Vains of Jenna? If not start with their song, “Get it on” Vains of Jenna seemed like the child of AC/DC and GNR. I heard them 14 years ago and was blown away. Also, do you like the song, “wasteland” by Warrior Soul?
Hey, thank you so much for subscribing and supporting the channel--seriously, I appreciate it. I really like Vains of Jenna, I need to revisit that album--it's been a while. Gonna listen to Wasteland now!
@@HairMetalGuru419glad you like the Warrior Soul song. It absolutely crushes. The album as a whole…eh. I like 1 other song on it a lot. Another song is ok. Outside of that….I found the album to be a bad Janes Addiction album (BTW…I love the first 3 Janes albums).
You have to check out: Crazy Lixx The album: Loud Minority Opening track reminds of me primal scream from the Crue mixed with monkey business from the skids. Track 2 has a Def Leppard vibe? Mixed with American hair metal from the late 80s. Released in 2007 I think? To me this album is all killer no filler and there is no doubt this group would have been huge in the late 80s. Not sure if you have talked about this band or album in your videos???
1993-95 were really great years in hard rock /AOR. Each year would deserve a top10 episode. I think '96 was really a huge drop. Utill 2003. One really good deep cut from 1994 the one and olny album by a UK band Walk the Wire.
Here's a great 93 CD suggestion. Star Star - The Love Drag Years. Killer NYC based band that if you weren't here at the time you most likely never heard of.
Holy crap. Demolition 23 is awesome. Just played a few songs and all good. I was recently listening to some MM solo stuff b/c I was talking to Ginger Wildheart on Twitter and he played with Michael for a while. Cool.
Motley's album with Corabi is by far their best work. Scorpions - Face the heat is my 2nd favorite album of theirs , right behind Sting in the tail. Every Mothers Nightmare - Wake up Screaming may be my 2nd favorite album of 93 Warrant's - Ultraphobic is my favorite album by them. They had a line up with Rick Stier and James Kottak that blew away the originals Joey and Steven.
Could you possibly do a piece on LA Guns.. now I know it will take you several decades to do the video.. because of all the members..Jizzy Ralph Van Dahl... Marty Casey does not count.. there was a woman singing for LA Guns called DILANA AND THAT ALONE IS WORTH A VIDEO
that dilana era was crazy. she was a few years removed from being on Rockstar: INXS, and out of nowhere was the singer for L.A. Guns for a few months. She left when Tracii started screwing her over on money she was promised. Typical Tracii Guns move though...every time there is a lack of money, he takes it all and runs.
Tracy gardens is such a weenie that a couple of years ago it was so hot at a gig that he actually played the guitar in the bathroom while the rest of the band was on stage
I don't like the LA Guns that exists right now with Tracy and Phil.. and that's strange because they are the two main ingredients but I think it's because you don't have Kelly Nichols and Mick and Steve Riley.. because Steve Riley's LA Guns did not work for me either it has to be both sides together or they just don't work
@@JohnnyBlade-de7id the last true reunion...in the early 2000's was awesome. its a shame they fell apart again after that. i remember they were one of the artists that john kalodoner signed (great white, la guns, cinderella, iron maiden, ratt) in 2000 for his re-birth of portrait records, but they were dropped just as fast when the great white, ratt, and iron maiden records tanked. there was a picture of tracii guns on the harley he bought after getting that deal...always wondered if he had to get rid of it when they got dropped less than 6 months later?
i remember going with my buddy in 1995 to go buy the slaughter greatest hits album that was released called Mass Slaughter. as we were walking to that section of tower records, we passed the Q section, and there was a brand new Quiet Riot album...Terrified. We bought that, the Shaw/Blades album (horrible) and the Slaughter greatest hits (a rip off)...but the Quiet Riot album was the gem of that day. Great record.
I remember listening to Ultraphobic at a Blockbuster Music at the mall (remember those?) and that was the last time I ever listened to it. Just couldn’t get into it.

4 me I believe Lillian Axe is definitely one of the most underrated bands ever. Their 1st 4 albums were the best. Ron Taylor has one of the best voices ever and great stage performance.
a couple interesting thoughts... the 1993-1994 period of warrant to me, is a lost time. so little information is out there about that period other than a few in depth interviews that erik turner has done. i know they auditioned jesse harte, and offered him the gig to replace jani in 1994, however jesse harte's management refused to let him do it. also, pat briggs from psychotica (used to be in a glam band called r u ready) was offered the gig too, but chose to move to ny and work in the club scene there before starting psychotica. two demos on erik turner's demos for diehards album are from those sessions...but alas, that to me is a fascinating time of lost info on how it worked. on the flip side is that jabberwocky material lane worked on...all of it is on youtube, and it showcases that talent that the man was oozing back then. while it never would have landed him in the upper echelon of recognition he seeked so much, it is quality stuff. great albums from the "lost era" vain - move on it enuff z nuff - tweaked ozzy - osmosis l.a. guns -vicious circle tracii guns - killing machine jon oliva' s dr butcher album tnt- firefly (amazing record...check out the song trippin)
I've always been intrigued by that period as well. Lane leaves the band, they audition singers, Lane comes back, put out Ultraphobic. I may be fanboying, but I wish someone would write a book about Warrant. I'll check out that TNT song. Thanks, Brother.
01. Motley Crue - s/t 02. Fast Eddie Clarke - It Ain't Over Till It's Over (Fast Eddie's first solo album. More old school hard rock than hair metal, but I had to include it. Both "Snakebite" and "Laugh At The Devil" (with Lemmy) could've easily been on an classic Motorhead album) 03. Red Sea - Blood (Kind of a Christian version of Badlands, but don't the Christian label deter you. This album is really good. Greg Chaisson and Jeff Martin of Badlands are part of the band. The singer kind of reminds me of David Reece - singer on Accept's Eat The Heat.) 04. Dangerous Toys - Pissed 05. Dirty Looks - Chewing On The Bit 06. Dokken - Dysfunctional 07. Quiet Riot - Down To The Bone 08. Skid Row - Subhuman Race 09. Slaughter - Fear No Evil 10. Tesla - Bust A Nut
Kix Show Business is a good album. hard to find nowadays. also Ultraphobic I think my manager gave it to me when I was working at music store around the time it was out. show business was the same deal. Pull by winger was an under rated album. a couple of Album worth checking out. Dokken Dysfuntional was Dokken's reunion album. it a grower but worth it.
With all this AI bulshit.. I'm tempted to make a video where it's grunge bands voice. On a hair metal song . Vince Neil on Soundgarden.. Bret Michaels on Nirvana
Hair Metal God . That would be you sir we need to discuss krokus. So get your buddy in here.. we also have to talk about Kingdom Come... They have a back catalogue that is going to make you choke on your cherry pie
that 3rd kingdom com record was incredible...hands of time. blues saraceno who wound up on the crack a smile record played guitar on it, and it really set the tone for the crown jewel of the kingdom come catalog, twilight cruiser. that album is amazing. the song "twilight cruiser" is one of the finest songs to ever come out of the 90s.
I think why some of like this era is two fold. 1. NONE of this stuff was overplayed on the radio if it was played at all. People forget just how off the radar our music fell during these years. Unless you were on the level of Ozzy, Van Halen, ACDC, Aerosmith or on that level… your new material didn’t get played. So it kept its underground feel. #2 A lot of these bands tried to keep up with the times and apply heavier guitar tones into their sound and ditched the blatant 80’s cliche like the chorus pedal and cheesy keyboards, but kept the songwriting ability so it’s kind of the best of both worlds situation. A little less cheese and lack of air play makes this era a breath of fresh air.
they wrote a lot of songs between the time they did the couple of songs that came out a few years ago as stand alone singles. also wish they would put a record out....
Video idea for you... there is a AI generated hair metal band called Cubicle Riot. Completely created by AI. Very Steel Panther-ish. They are getting some news coverage. They have, from what i understand, just two songs. One titled "Dipping My Nuts in My Boss's Coffee," so it's obviously a big goof, but outside the dumb lyrics, the music and vocals sound legit. Both songs kick some real ass. If they AI'd this without goof lyrics, both their songs would be bangers. They fucking rock! Maybe review them and how they stack up against real bands, but beyond that, commentary on whether or not you think AI could make serious new hair metal -era music, and how you would feel if they created new music from real hair metal bands that are no longer active or around.
This is a GREAT FUCKING IDEA. I've heard of these guys--listened to that Dipping My Nuts song a couple days ago. Reviewing that is a great idea! Thanks, Brother, I'll give you full credit if it happens.
Ok Guru you have got to be with me on this. Maybe make a video.. why are LA Guns so lazy that their last four albums are exactly the same thing on the cover the logo

i truly think that 3 by firehouse was the last album of the genre to produce a top 40 hit with "i live my life for you". none of this genre could crack top 40 in 1995, but firehouse did, and it bounced around in that chart for a good 6 months.
Great list, and I LOVE seeing The Spaghetti Incident here. That thing is awesome.
@@patrickreeves4650 Good point.
Just to add some albums I enjoy from this period that weren't mentioned in the vid: Vain "Move On It", Alleycat Scratch "Deadboys in Trash City," Barely Legal "Dirtier Than You", Firehouse "3", Slik Toxik "Irrelevant", Roxx Gang "The Voodoo You Love", Love/Hate "Let's Rumble", Kix "$how Bu$ine$$", Bang Tango "Love After Death" and Tuff "Fist First"
Great recommendations man. Need to revisit the Vain and Alleycat Scratch albums. Hey, thanks for watching, Brother, I appreciate it.
You wont see roses on my grave by Alleycat is a killer ballad❤
@vinceneil8183 yes! underrated band in my opinion
Great list….Check out Harem Scarem Mood Swings circa 1993. All killer no filler!!!

Great list! I need to revisit Brother Cane and Sister Whiskey--it's been a while. Thanks for sharing, Brother.
Never apologize for the love you show to Lillian Axe they were criminally underrated and should have been one of the biggest bands of the era ! My top from 1993 to 1995 would have to be Winger pull but I’m the biggest Winger fan in the world
Haha, anyone who loves Lillian is A-OK in my book. And Pull might be my favorite Winger album. Hey, thanks for watching, man.

Hey, man, thanks a lot for supporting the channel, I really do appreciate it.
Great topic, you might have to go to single years after this because 92 has huge releases. Danger Danger, Tesla, Crue, Slaughter, Tyketto and (of course) Warrant are my top for those years so I’m glad you guys mentioned them. Here’s another 5 for ya:
POISON - Native Tongue ( this and Crack A Smile are actually my favorite albums from them, MR.
That Arcade album was great.
my sophomore year of high school, 1993-1994, cry no more got a ton of radio play on the local rock station in portland oregon, 101kufo. it was awesome to see them getting played along with the hits of all the grunge bands at the time.
Uggh, I fuckin' love that album. Deserved so much better. Hey, thanks for watching.
You were a Marine? Awesome, man, thank you for serving! Seriously. I need to revisit that Four Horsemen album--it's been a while.
4 Horseman was great. 1st 2 records!!
Need that tuff shirt. Congrats on 2K subs keep the videos coming!
Hey, thanks, Kirby, I appreciate it! Seriously. Got the Tuff shirt from the Metal Sludge web store if you're looking for one....
Great as always. Some I would add:
Nothing But Trouble - Blue Murder
Let’s Rumble - Love/Hate
Irrelevant- Slik Toxik
Brother - Cry Of Love
I need to revisit that Cry of Love album... been a long time.
'Lets rumble' has some corkers
So cool to hear about Every Mother's Nightmare. I have their debut CD and then could never find anything of theirs. I did not even know they had more music until years later and thought they had split up. Even on streaming there was only debut and a green album. I am going to have to dig into this! Cheers, 7Rock.
I’m just beginning to discover Hurricane’s Slave to the Thrill album. Wow! Some insane songs on there.
Excellent album.
Completely agree. I just got into that album in the last year.

My man, thank you!
Kudos on the Krokus love, To Rock Or Not To Be is goddamn stellar.
I listened to it the day after we recorded this--phenomenal album.

Alice Cooper's The Last Temptation from 1994 was terrific. Also throw in a good album recorded in 1995 but not released until 2011 was Tora Tora's Revolution Day. You can find that release on FNA Records website. Some good tunes on that one.

For some reason they won't give them the Masters (That album was fully done) but the version you can go on and F n A is rather good. Some horns and things on there but still some great southern bluesy hard rock and a few of the songs are grEAT. You also need to check out the Bastards of Beale album released on Frontiers. Vain’s album “move on it” from 1993 is an honorable mention. Perfect mix of alternative rock, grunge, glam metal & 70s groove. Extremely underrated and one of the extremely few glam bands that pulled off the alternative sound.
I need to revisit that one... it's been a while. Hey, thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.

Seriously, that's half the reason I started it.

bon jovi -these days is an album that is lost among the bon jovi story. i remember going to buy it on release day from that cd warehouse in portland oregon, and they had no display for it, and unless you knew it was coming out, you never would have seen or heard of it. i popped it in my discman and listened to it twice in the time it took to get home. i was shocked at how it was so slow and different from anything they did before.
here we are 30 years later, and that may be my favorite bon jovi album. the songwriting is killer and songs like if that's what it takes, something to believe in, and hearts breaking even stand tall among their catalog. but in music circles, and among their fans, it is almost always forgotten.
Great list! I need to revisit These Days--so many people love it, but I haven't listened to it in forever.

I really like the John Bush years, absolutely.
I know' the threat is real 'is eclectic but I think' 'we've come for you all' 'is marvellous.
Did you ever hear the 1993 self titled album by blackfish? Its kind of like a less heavier version of every mothers nightmare.
Shit, I have that CD, but it's been forever since I checked it out. I think I remember hearing some Black Crowes in one of the songs.
Do a video of hair bands that tried to make Grunge Albums!
dear god...that is a great idea. there were a ton, and most were garbage. the 2nd wildside album, the dangerous toys did one. dokken, enuff z nuff, vince neil (carved in stone was pretty grungy) all went down that road. warrant has been talked to death about for their change in ultraphobic and belly 2 belly, but the lesser known one's are the fascinating ones.
then you look at the "industrial" one's like stephen pearcy's band vertex, or the newlydeads from taime downe (which wasn't terrible), shotgun messiah...all went industrial.
you can't find another time in music where a style became so hated and alienated that hundreds of artists were forced to try to grasp onto another style for survival...maybe disco...but i can't think of disco artists that tried to go rock, or whatever else to survive.
Dokken SHADOW LIFE. .RATT self titled. BritnyFox SPRINGHEAD MOTOR SHARK... BULLET BOYS Sophie...slave Raider BIGGER BADDER BOLDER

Such an underrated era of hard rock/metal. I'd argue that most of these bands put out some of their best material during this period.
COMPLETELY agree, my man. When I listen to hair metal I find myself going to this period first.

Always a great time watching the Guru

Opening track reminds of me primal scream from the Crue mixed with monkey business from the skids.
Track 2 has a Def Leppard vibe? Mixed with American hair metal from the late 80s.

Utill 2003.

Every Mothers Nightmare - Wake up Screaming may be my 2nd favorite album of 93
Warrant's - Ultraphobic is my favorite album by them. They had a line up with Rick Stier and James Kottak that blew away the originals Joey and Steven.
Pull and PsychoSchizophrenia were fucking great. Helloween did Chameleon and I thought it was WEIRD but good.

What can I say, I get surprised easily.

KROKUS HAS AN ALBUM FROM 1990 CALLED STAMPEDE. Check that out because it's all new members except the guitarist and he switches to bass... Then after. 2 rock or not to be.. there's an album with another different singer called round 13. That singer is in Nazareth now
Thanks for the recommendations, brother.
I can't believe Harem scarems mood swings album wasn't on the list a fantastic album and i think Ace's High debut album is worth a mention
Just listened to the Harem Scarem album. Should've made my honorable mentions.
4 me I believe Lillian Axe is definitely one of the most underrated bands ever. Their 1st 4 albums were the best. Ron Taylor has one of the best voices ever and great stage performance.
EMN wake up screaming is one of my all time favorites.
a couple interesting thoughts...
the 1993-1994 period of warrant to me, is a lost time. so little information is out there about that period other than a few in depth interviews that erik turner has done. i know they auditioned jesse harte, and offered him the gig to replace jani in 1994, however jesse harte's management refused to let him do it. also, pat briggs from psychotica (used to be in a glam band called r u ready) was offered the gig too, but chose to move to ny and work in the club scene there before starting psychotica. two demos on erik turner's demos for diehards album are from those sessions...but alas, that to me is a fascinating time of lost info on how it worked.
on the flip side is that jabberwocky material lane worked on...all of it is on youtube, and it showcases that talent that the man was oozing back then. while it never would have landed him in the upper echelon of recognition he seeked so much, it is quality stuff.
great albums from the "lost era"
vain - move on it
enuff z nuff - tweaked
ozzy - osmosis
l.a. guns -vicious circle
tracii guns - killing machine
jon oliva' s dr butcher album
tnt- firefly (amazing record...check out the song trippin)
I've always been intrigued by that period as well. Lane leaves the band, they audition singers, Lane comes back, put out Ultraphobic. I may be fanboying, but I wish someone would write a book about Warrant. I'll check out that TNT song. Thanks, Brother.
Corabi Crue will always be my favorite. Easily in my top 5. So is too fast and shout!
Sgt roxx is a awesome band weapon of miss destruction is a cool album
I know that album, but I need to revisit.
01. Motley Crue - s/t
02. Fast Eddie Clarke - It Ain't Over Till It's Over (Fast Eddie's first solo album. More old school hard rock than hair metal, but I had to include it. Both "Snakebite" and "Laugh At The Devil" (with Lemmy) could've easily been on an classic Motorhead album)
03. Red Sea - Blood (Kind of a Christian version of Badlands, but don't the Christian label deter you. This album is really good. Greg Chaisson and Jeff Martin of Badlands are part of the band. The singer kind of reminds me of David Reece - singer on Accept's Eat The Heat.)
04. Dangerous Toys - Pissed
05. Dirty Looks - Chewing On The Bit
06. Dokken - Dysfunctional
07. Quiet Riot - Down To The Bone
08. Skid Row - Subhuman Race
09. Slaughter - Fear No Evil
10. Tesla - Bust A Nut
how about the dangerous toys album - r tist 4merly known as? that came out in the time frame as well, and went almost unnoticed!
@@patrickreeves4650 I own that one, but after their first 3 albums I found it to be a big disappointment.
@@matthewg666 it was a total departure for them...and it was not good at all.
Damn, there are some albums in here I need to revisit. Thanks for the list, man.
We should do an alternate universe video where the grunge bands attempted to go hair metal
With all this AI bulshit.. I'm tempted to make a video where it's grunge bands voice. On a hair metal song . Vince Neil on Soundgarden.. Bret Michaels on Nirvana
This would be a good April fool's joke
haha
Hair Metal God . That would be you sir we need to discuss krokus. So get your buddy in here.. we also have to talk about Kingdom Come... They have a back catalogue that is going to make you choke on your cherry pie
that 3rd kingdom com record was incredible...hands of time. blues saraceno who wound up on the crack a smile record played guitar on it, and it really set the tone for the crown jewel of the kingdom come catalog, twilight cruiser. that album is amazing. the song "twilight cruiser" is one of the finest songs to ever come out of the 90s.
Ryan lives for Krokus! I need to revisit Kingdom Come... been a while.
I love the White Snake shirt! That's my favorite glam metal band.
I'm going to make Ryan mail it to you.
That would absolutely make my day! 😁👌🏻
Ultraphobic!! Fucking great!! I had a feeling that was your #1. Pretty sure that or Crue 94 would have been my #1. Such a hard choice.
Why won't faster Pussycat make a new album would it kill them
they wrote a lot of songs between the time they did the couple of songs that came out a few years ago as stand alone singles. also wish they would put a record out....
Farrcry - Can't Bargain With God from 1994. Skip the first track, but the rest is fantastic.
I know of that album--gotta check it out again. Thanks, man.
What is Ryan’s last name?
Everyone forgets Terrified(1993) by Quiet Riot that's their best album in my opinion
Need to revisit that one.
This is the time period where hair started physically disappearing from rocker's heads.
Haha, valid point.
Why you skipped Bon Jovi " Keep the Faith " and " KISS " Revenge " .Both 1992- 1993 .?
They both came out in 1992, and this list focused on albums that came out between 93 and 95.
57:59 Spot on with Arcade!!
Right?! LOVE that band.
Dysfunctional, ROKKEN WITH DOKKEN
Man, I need to revisit that.
Love the show
Thank you, Stephen! Seriously
