This song is about people who point to their physical blessings and take it to meant that Jesus must love them and all they stand for... when that isn't necessarily the case. She has a greater love for God then you, because you obviously need his material gifts, and she sings that there is more than life and faith than that.
This song is sarcastic. It's not meant to be taken literally. I think she's trying to illustate human nature. How we are greedy, selfish and how we just want to see what everything is all about. It's not always a negitive thing to question. It helps us grow and evolve.

I just read ten pages of comments and one thing is very clear - we are all doomed! She sings a song that is NOT about God or religion yet a Holy War breaks out! The song is about selfish, self absorbed, shallow people that are only interested in "what's in it for them". These type of people even look at God as a kind of divine vending machine that will give them things. She obviously has a very low opinion of people like that. That is what she expressing in the song.
You can't do anything to earn God's love, you also can't do anything to lose it either... so no matter how horrible the sin in your past, present or future, Jesus already paid the price. John 15:13 says Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends, 1 John 4:10 says This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Your probably going to critasize me, but Jesus does care about the world, everything that is happening now, the war in Iraq and all this other stuff is going on, It's all in the bible, daniel and Revelation, Not word for word like this but I mean they are prophetic scriptures and I believe that he lets things go on like this to let us learn from out mistakes. Religions are destroying the world. people pray for something that doesn't exist . When will people realise there is no such Gods? I feel more confortable thinking that nothing will happen after death than being punished by some God that should punished himself for the pain, the wars and everything he let happen.
