    Will you be going with a full 3 inch exhaust? I love my Kraken top mount kit for my 1.6 but I bought it with the 2.5" downpipe, I'll be upgrading to a 3" downpipe and a full 3" exhaust but have been debating if I should buy a full exhaust or do a diy setup. Love the car man, keep up the good work!

    How did you like the kraken kit? Was it complete? Or what did you need to buy extra? I know injectors, ecu & boost controller are missing.
    And did come any instructions, or did you use flyinmiata’s?
    Thanks man. Love the vids!!

      I love the kit! Fit and finish is awesome, feels like it was an OEM option. On the Kraken site you can piece together what you need, so I got manifold, downpipe, intercooler kit, and oil/coolant lines. Stuff I bought extra would be turbo inlet/outlet adapters, vacuum lines, oil, coolant, clamps, stuff like that. They do NOT offer an intake setup for the turbo, so you need to figure that out on your own. No instructions included, but yea I used the FM instructions if I got stuck on anything.

    Thinking about ordering this kit, with the Garrett GT2554R
    for my fully stock 1.6 na from 97 with 90 hp! what other parts is needed for the kit to work / install and not damage my car? Ecu, intake for the turbo, injectors, maybe a boost gauge?. And for safety measure, flywheel and clutch. Would i need anything else?
    Thank you for the kraken turbo kit install, great videos with a good lenght

      Yep, that’s about it, add a wideband to that list! I’m running a SpeedyEFI with some DW 700cc injectors and an AEM X-series wideband. I custom made my intake and I forget which boost gauge I’m using. For clutch, my Exedy stock replacement held 8psi, but just barely. I am currently upgrading to a FlyinMiata Stg1 setup, which is good for 300+ lb/ft of torque.

      @@ConnorsCorner1 I just finished the donut media series of turboing their miata, but unfortunately i dont think i have anyone in my country that can tune the megasquirt for me. Is there any option that is easier to do myself, or will i just need to get hella smart on the MS?

    • @ConnorsCorner1
      @ConnorsCorner1  2 года назад +1

      @@karloladen There should be plenty of people who tune on TunerStudio. Don’t tell them you have a Megasquirt, the ECU itself doesn’t matter, the tuning software does. TunerStudio is extremely popular. I would honestly suggest buying the ECU first, and learning to tune yourself. Tons of videos out there on tuning, just take your time and you’ll get the hang of it. It took me around 8 months to get comfortable on TunerStudio, have tuned 2 other Miata’s locally that are still running!

      Just added some fuel in the VE table. Turbo is pushing a TINY bit of air, so it was too lean to start. Added like 15% across all the cells.

    thinking of ordering the kraken kit for my 1.6 . What's the smallest easiest turbo I should get? I really only want like 200-250~ hp.

    • @ConnorsCorner1
      @ConnorsCorner1  2 года назад

      I went with the 2560R so I had headroom if I ever build the motor, and it spools almost instantly. It's insane. If you only ever plan on running the stock bottom end, a 2554R will spool even faster, it'll feel like a supercharger it will spool so quickly. Whatever you do, please don't cheap out and buy an eBay turbo.

    That catch can routing seems off, did someone recommend that to you?

    • @ConnorsCorner1
      @ConnorsCorner1  2 года назад +1

      I’m not running a PCV valve, it works. When I had the valve cover off, I packed some stainless steel scrubbers in that baffled area. Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to catch cans, but I trust both ports acting as breathers more than I do the PCV valve and the grommet not letting boost seep into the valve cover.

    • @itschrisb
      @itschrisb 2 года назад

      @@ConnorsCorner1 hey fair enough. I’m currently trying to figure out my catch can routing so that’s kind of why I asked. Are you running any sort of check valves?

    • @ConnorsCorner1
      @ConnorsCorner1  2 года назад

      @@itschrisb Nope! Since the catch can isn’t connected to the manifold at all, it’ll never see boost so there’s no need for a check valve. If you want to run it like mine, you definitely need to take the valve cover off and pull the baffle cover off and pack it with scrubbers, otherwise it’ll let a bunch of oil out. Most people prefer to run a 323 GTX valve and connect the manifold to the can. Look up some forum posts on it and draw your own conclusion, don’t let me sway you.

    I’m 15 bought my 90 last year I’m a little scared because somewhere on the forums someone mentioned that the guy who runs kraken almost closed up shop. Hopefully he doesn’t anytime soon because I still need to make a bit more cash for the kit. Would you happen to know anything about this?

    • @ConnorsCorner1
      @ConnorsCorner1  2 года назад +1

      Not that I know of. He said he has to increase prices by a little bit, but he is selling a TON of kits. Look him up on Facebook, he posts pictures a couple times of month of outgoing orders. There HAS to be 30+ boxes in every one of those.

    • @ConnorsCorner1
      @ConnorsCorner1  2 года назад +2

      My tune likely wont work on your ECU unless they're the same board type and running the same firmware. Try this. Under Cranking settings, set your cranking timing to 8. Under Cranking IAC Duty cycle, set it to 65% for the 2 coldest, 58 for the next, and then 50 for the warmest. Go ahead and try to start it. If it's popping and backfiring, put your throttle pedal to the floor, and it should start. Pops & bangs = too much fuel. You can either turn it down in the VE table, or decrease your cranking enrichment. If it doesn't start and is spinning over, go to the VE table and increase the cranking cells by ~20%. Continue messing with these until you get a start.
