Couldn’t swing a new Wilderness so resolved to keep the Forester. Well I now have a used one on the way so these vids have became very relevant again. Thanks for sharing!
They look nice, but I really wish companies that make heavy steel parts like your rock sliders would stop laser cutting their logo in the parts. Laser cut Logos cut in the parts allow mud, sand, salt, road deicer to get in behind the rock slider and then rot the part from the back side or rot the rocker panels. Sharp edges from laser cutting also mean very thin powder coating on the logo area, so on things like bumpers, the logo is going to be the first area that starts to rust from road de-icer and salt used on the roads in the winter.
@@roamingwithjosh , thanks for the quick reply! Can I assume that if it would fit then it's gonna be reflected somehow on your website? Because currently for subaru it has only two options: OUTBACK WILDERNESS and CROSSTREK. Hey, don't forget about us who builds our adventure vehicle out of regular outbacks :) For me, wilderness lacks some comfort features unfortunately, but my touring now has ironman, tires, skid plates and whatnot... stil, could use a good rock sliders! :)
Those are some pretty slick looking sliders! Good to see more offerings stronger than the typical LP style ones. Any idea if there are any plans for a forester variant, doesn't seem like us forester owners get any love haha. Currently running a set of Full Force Metalworks sliders myself which are arguably the strongest that were previously on the market at 1.5 inch 0.150 wall DOM tubung all around, but that guy isn't making subie stuff anymore, but they were also some of the lowest profile ones you could get only hanging down about a half inch from the pinch weld, but they do require to have 4 holes drilled in the pinch weld, but theyare also supported by 2 heavy duty brackets using 3-4 existing bolts going into the unibody at both ends.
Matt Camp (FFMW) has recently started again with some hired help. I too, have the FFMW sliders, and they are indeed THE toughest and highest clearing sliders out there (only 3/8" loss in height). Another Crosstrek owner named, Sly, and myself teamed up with Matt to design them. Check my channel for the install.
@@octurbojoe that's good to hear! Yea, mine are the same design as yours and they are rock solid. Went down to his shop last February to get the current gen forester prototype set made up.
The Rivnuts require a special tool to install them, and they can be costly if there is no place in your area that rents them. Some brighter light would make your videos much easier to see. Overall, and very well-done video illustrating and explaining the rock slider install. I am a Subie nut and enjoyed this video.
The tool costs 40 bucks from Harbor Freight which I don't think is very expensive. The manual rivnut tool stripped itself so I had to go out and buy the tool anyway.
@@roamingwithjosh just finally started beefing up my 22 Forester Wilderness with Method wheels and bigger tires, suspension lift kit coming soon. Been watching you since I got my car, your channel has been a big help with researching what I want to do and what I don’t need. Thanks so much!
This is a compromise between function and form. The Rallitek ones are a bit stronger at the pinch weld, but only because you need to drill holes in your pinch weld for their bolts. This introduces new points for rust in the pinch weld as your rock sliders flex. The CAtuned ones just extend past the pinch weld. Also the Rallitek ones are shin busters. Ask me how I know.

Anytime! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the discussion about these. They look great! How did the install go?
Putting them on next week!

That's actually a really good point and I never thought about that until you mentioned it. I appreciate the input!
This may be a stupid question but does the plastic cladding go back on over the rock sliders or is it just replaced by the sliders?
replaced by the sliders.
I worry about the removal of the plastic cladding and how that will effect the water tight door seal, did CA Tuned test that?
That plastic cladding sits underneath your door seal. I couldn't imagine there being a reason that plastic would be used as any kind of seal.
we REALLY need these for the Forester Wilderness! Let them know!!
Will do!
Very nice! Any idea if they would fit all the same for regular 23 outback (touring xt)?
We're not sure yet. My assumption is that they would, but it would all depend on where the holes are behind the side plastic.

What wheels and tires are In the thumbnail picture?
Not sure. That's not my vehicle. Sorry about that!
@@roamingwithjosh dang, I like the color of those, and can’t find them anywhere even did a google picture search

I don't know about the forester. I know that the crosstrek wilderness is getting some love at the moment.
@@roamingwithjosh well that's disappointing haha, never seems to be any love for the foresters

Much appreciated! The sliders come with the nut and bolt to avoid costing you money buying or renting the tool.

Never been the first to like or comment on a video ever! Yay🤗

Is "Adventure Rig Shop" your business?
It's actually my wife's business. She is the tech savvy one out of the both of us.
You said nothing protects the pinch weld than those sliders, well you haven't check the Rallitek Sliders. Look at their video torture testing it.
I'll check that out. I wasn't aware they did the same thing. Thanks for checking me on that!

Good stuff
Thank you, brother!
@@roamingwithjosh y’all have an awesome Thanksgiving Bro
Pity they skipped right over the Forester.
DOM refers to how the tubing was manufactured not the quality of the steel......
Thanks for the knowledge!
"Nomads" 5% saving from Adventure Rig Shop did not work...
Did you email them?
