    With all the hype around the city pack pro, it is nice to hear you're a fan of the travel pack 3 small. I just purchased the latter and was worried I should've opted for the city pack pro instead! I must say I do love those straps on the sides to compress the bag.

    Aer is the better pick imo. I think northface is cutting corners i have an older one (about 1 maybe 2 years older) that is shaped a little different (less squared off on the top) and it incorporated a bunch of the pockets and organization you thought was missing from this bag

    i’d appreciate it if you bought various oz water bottles from 18-40oz to see how it fits. Backpacks these days don’t cater to water bottles

    Excellent review, Klint. I’m beginning to really enjoy seeing what you place in the bags as much as the packs themselves. Guess I’m strange that way.

      Thx so much!!! I actually enjoy that part too! I take time picking out what I’m going to load out - I want to show interesting stuff there too, not just the bag - I think that’s a big part of the enjoyment factor…..”hey what’s that thing?”

    This is a perfect transit bag/luggage. I was able to ram almost 18kg of stuff on my trip to Bangkok 😂. I tried using it in a mountain climbing and it didn't fail. However, it was hot on my back which is understandable because it isn't for climbing.
    My friends ask me questions when they they see it.

    • @Stanly450
      @Stanly450 10 месяцев назад +2

      I got the larger one. It looks minimalist and the airline staff wouldn't notice that it has 18kg stuff in it (hand carry allows only 7KG 😂).

    Seriously, the whole amalgamation of these ideas won’t deter me from going with the more niche brands when you consider how hard they work for their customers in terms of design, R&D, etc.

    For an everyday bag that will have essentials, 20oz bottle of water, a book and a mirrorless camera with one lense, would you recommend this bag or the sling, maybe even the messenger bag?
    My daily carry is the Herschel retreat whcih is. Perfect size (I don’t use all space) but there is no utility for my camera ha

  • @hawkeye50
    @hawkeye50 11 месяцев назад +1

    I cannot condone that a company the size and influence of TNF resorts to stealing the designs of a smaller company that is putting out a superior product albeit at a higher price. I call it B.S. -- steal the design and just make it in cheap recycled poly fabric. It didn't even use a premium recycled fabric like Cordura Re/Cor, Ecopak, or X-Pac. I would go with the AER on principle because it is pitiful that TNF did not even attempt to differentiate the bag. I mean put the front zipper on a slant or put a grab handle on the back like the old Surge ... something that says TNF design, not AER design. IMHO. Great review though. Keep up the good work.

    For a utility brand, they make the worst bags. I am perplexed why they can't make a decent backpack.
