@Luca Schütt I suspect that you could make it work. I mount mine lengthwise on the rack and seat and have lots of space. Also makes for a nice backrest:-).

Awesome review! I have the XS and Medium. One thing I love about these travel duffels over others is there isn’t a lining on the inside so it’s much easier to clean out. Just my preference. The XS I’ve used several times for weekend trips and overnights and it’s incredible. I’ll be taking both sizes with me on a month long trip this summer.
@@alexsafayan7684 how are you like the Patagonia Black Hole duffel? I’ve been looking at a 45-55 liter travel duffel. Curious if it works as a carry on for you.

Hi there! 😊 For a two week trip to Japan with checked luggage and winter skiing gear, I'd recommend going for size L. It provides ample space for your belongings, including a helmet and skiing clothes. Safe travels and enjoy your adventure!
Such an awesome video! I am not sure whether the small or the medium. I am flying with American Airlines and I would love this bag as a backpack and not a carry on. Would you think that the medium would be accepted as a backpack or should I go with the small one? Like, would the medium fit under the seat in front of me?
The North Face Base Camp Duffel is a versatile bag that can be carried as a backpack, but it's important to note that the medium size may be too large to fit under the seat in front of you on a plane. The dimensions of the medium bag are 14.1" x 27.6" x 14.1", while the dimensions of the small bag are 12.8" x 20.9" x 12.8". Most airlines have strict guidelines for carry-on luggage, with size restrictions ranging from 18-22 inches in length, 14-16 inches in width, and 8-10 inches in depth. While the small size of the Base Camp Duffel may fit these dimensions, the medium size may be too large and may need to be checked in as luggage. It's always best to check with your airline's carry-on luggage policy before packing to ensure that your bag meets their size requirements.

I have used the M as a backpack in several trips. If you don’t fill it all the way and make it smaller with the side straps it can pass as a backpack.
@thanks for this input. I keep going back and forth between the small and medium. I will probably use luggage or my backpacking backpack for travel and use this as more of a local adventure or camping. And based on your comment, it pushes me more in the medium direction

Hi Ana, for those travelling overseas for a month or so, we'd usually recommend the Base Camp Duffel - Large (95L) since it has lots of room for longer journeys. However, it’s not very carry-on friendly. If Large is too big for you, we'd suggest getting the Medium (69L) instead. It's still spacious and easy to carry. It also fits in an overhead compartment so you won’t even need to check your luggage. Have fun on your trip! Cheers
We’d recommend the Large (or Extra Large) size. The Large size should be suffuce as it offers plenty of space without being too heavy. Plus, it’s easier to handle 😊 Safe travels!

The issue I see with the S size is the lack of shoulder sling and center handles (usually velcro'd together). If I am taking this as a carry-on and I've got my EDC backpack on, how the heck do i comfortably carry this through an airport???
I don't know if it would work but you can remove one of the shoulder straps and you can try to sling the other shoulder strap diagonally... maybe that would work?
For an 11-day expedition trip, I'd recommend the medium size for The North Face Base Camp Duffel. It offers ample space for your essentials without being too bulky to handle during your journey.
Hey mate I was wondering what the name of your M bag is? The colour with blue and orange and green. I’ve been looking everywhere for it and can’t find any in aus. I’m desperate could you help me out please 🤚🤚
Consider your typical usage and storage needs when choosing between the Medium and Large sizes of The North Face Base Camp Duffel. The Medium size is ideal for weekend trips or gym visits, while the Large size offers extra room for longer journeys or bulkier items. If the $10 price difference isn't an issue and you anticipate needing more space occasionally, opt for the Large size. However, if you prioritize compactness and shorter trips, the Medium size may be more suitable:)
Gonna travel for 7 days, gonna buy L or M for a check in bag. But the large seems a bit too big to walk around comfortable on the back for longer walks. So leaning more to M, think M is big enough with a smaller carry on bag on the side ?
I can't imagine that, the only thing that could be as a pass through could be the compression straps, but even that would only work with xs. Everything else is just too big. I've got the s and can't imagine it on top of a rolling luggage
Thank you for sharing your experience! Both Mier and The North Face offer quality products, and it's wonderful that you've had the chance to compare. Your insights are valuable to the Rushfaster community!
I purchased size S for the purpose of carry on luggage for a 4 night trip. Here's my take. Pros: - Quality is made of durable material. Waterproof. Stitching and zips feel secure. I feel like this bag can last a life time. - Backpack design. As much as other people prefer the shoulder design, I find the backpack style easier on the back and shoulders. - Straps can be tightened, which makes the bag tad bit more compact - Price is relatively affordable compared to others - Can be flattened and stored Cons: - The backpack strap is wide, but not thick. There's not much padding on it either. However, you could purchase your own and replace it. - Lack of functionality. It is a duffel after all. Only one exterior pocket and one interior pocket. It's not a bag with multiple pockets to store your goods. If I needed to take something out, I would require a bit of effort unzipping the pockets. - It is a bit heavy (over 1kg) Overall, it's a great bag for what it is - a simple yet durable duffel. I used this as cheaper version carry on backpack as the alternatives I was eyeing were $300+ (Aer/Pakt/Peak). I would consider purchasing a more expensive backpack if you're planning on using it for camping/travelling/backpacking. In saying that, I wouldn't consider getting L/XL/XXL duffel version if you're planning on using it for that purpose. You're better off just getting an actual travel backpack, like the ones they sell at Kathmandu. This duffel is more suited for weekend/short trips . If you're unsure about which size to get for carry on, size S just fits carry on but on the larger side. I managed to fit under 7kg (carry on limit). Size medium or larger I would be VERY worried the airlines wouldn't accept it as carry on.
Thank you for your detailed feedback on the duffel bag. We appreciate your comments on the quality, backpack design, and affordability. Your honest feedback on the cons is valuable to us and other customers. We value your overall assessment and size recommendation for carry on luggage. We hope to serve you again in the future! - Kez
Depending on what you carrying duffle style is my preference to put packing cube and pouches. Laptop compartment and admin panels sometimes take up much of the 35-40l capacity
Since the human body is mostly water and 1 litre of water is 1 kg, you should be able to carry normal sized bodies even in the smaller duffles than the XXL. If you compress me enough I should fit in the L as an average sized grown man.
Interesting point! Water weighs the same as its volume however duffle bag sizes are typically designed to accommodate items with varying shapes and densities. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

You’d have to check with your airline, but we’ve got it on without issue

great video!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Cant believe there's no trolley sleeve on the small or xsmall or medium tbh. Such a shame
Mier makes very good duffels and are much cheaper than The North Face. I do have both TNF XS and 2 Mier duffels to compare.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Both Mier and The North Face offer quality products, and it's wonderful that you've had the chance to compare. Your insights are valuable to the Rushfaster community!
Great video thankyou!
I purchased size S for the purpose of carry on luggage for a 4 night trip. Here's my take.
Pros:
- Quality is made of durable material. Waterproof. Stitching and zips feel secure. I feel like this bag can last a life time.
- Backpack design. As much as other people prefer the shoulder design, I find the backpack style easier on the back and shoulders.
- Straps can be tightened, which makes the bag tad bit more compact
- Price is relatively affordable compared to others
- Can be flattened and stored
Cons:
- The backpack strap is wide, but not thick.
- It is a bit heavy (over 1kg)
Overall, it's a great bag for what it is - a simple yet durable duffel.
Very helpful thanks a ton!
Thanks
You're welcome! I hope the video helped you out.
Merci super vidéo !!
Since the human body is mostly water and 1 litre of water is 1 kg, you should be able to carry normal sized bodies even in the smaller duffles than the XXL. If you compress me enough I should fit in the L as an average sized grown man.
Yes yes, I know, fluids are not compressible but with "compress" I meant really stuff me in there.
Interesting point! Water weighs the same as its volume however duffle bag sizes are typically designed to accommodate items with varying shapes and densities. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks mate
You can sign me up for that XXL just for that joke. LOL 💀
XXL turned you to the 5th Ninja turtle.
Cowabunga!
Can’t believe Ed left already :(
Ed will be back in our upcoming video reviews. Watch out for it! - Del
Great bags, I have 2 of these. Unfortunatly TNF has gonne full woke so I will not be buying more.
Hi Thomas, we totally get you. We understand that we all have our own values and beliefs. TNF has been taking great strides to become more sustainable and ethical in its production and it comes down to the personal decision of the consumer as to whether these actions match up with their values. Taking all of this into account, we're happy to hear that you're enjoying the TNF bags you already have! Cheers!
I plan on living out of a bag for about 3 months out of state with my family, which one should I get? I'm 5'7 if that matters
At least the medium!
