Would 100% buy the fake. Perfect gym bag if you carry equipment. Probably fine to take through an airport, even as a checked bag. And any actual wear and tear, I wouldnt care because it was $10.

Old quarter's "factory outlets" in Hanoi, Vietnam are waiting for you. Just got from there and brought similar knock off and actually happy about it

I have bought a fake one in Bangkok. Really worth it.

Sounds like a ripper deal! A gym bag for $10? Can't beat that! Cheers for sharing your thoughts!

got a fake in bangkok also lasted me almost 2 years before the straps broke so its pretty good for 15-30 bucks if you buy it

for the price, I'll buy 10 of the fakes to be interchangeable for quite some time. Nothing outstanding on the real. Outrageous price for a subpar product.

Considering my monthly salary and the country I live in, I think it's safe to say that I'm the target market for the fake North Face duffle though I still wouldn't get either of them. The original duffle is just too pricey and the fake one's simply fake and doesn't look like it can last for long.

We gotta think of the environment more. It's far better to buy a quality product once than a sub par one every 2 years. We have one earth and we need to respect it.

Really like your review! Glad to see the relatable user experience-based tests and not some cutting/burning/stretching at the lab. I've been a fan of Eagle Creek duffles, however, they sadly stopped making them :( so looking for alternatives. I already have a 100 L Patagonia Black Hole for keeping camping equipment dry but was looking for a carry-on/checked bag and North Face is on the list. Appreciate you testing fabric's abrasion-resistance against different materials/textures.

I had been using the real one for 6 years now, beside from the plastic part of the zipper pull tab coming off recently (which can be replace easily), it is still in remarkable condition and will probably last another few years

I have been using the 95L basecamp duffle for 2 years now working on the road. It has held up great.

A great test, I’ve seen these NF bags for sale around Thailand and Vietnam and always wondered how they compare to the original.
I have both the medium and large base camp holdalls and the large has been with me on 14 trips to South East Asia over the last 6/7 years and has taken a lot of hammer with international and domestic flights, also on and off boats and ferries. Apart from the odd nick on the logo edges the bag is holding up extremely well and I wouldn’t travel with anything less.
But same as most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Many thanks for the review, but I think the boot is 840D not 1840D ballastic nylon acording to official website?

Hello. Thanks for your comment! You’re right, the boot is made from 840D Recycled Ballistic Nylon with a Non-PFC DWR finish. We actually mention this at the 4:43 mark in the video! Appreciate the catch! 😊

Where can I get the fake one? Only want to use it for carrying work stuff and not worth spending that much on the real one for me

@@RushfasterTVI know you don’t advise it but it’s only for work so makes a lot more sense for me to get the fake one. Which website was it?

I have the fake one and it looks nice, but of course I’m not expecting the same quality as the real. I do have a real north face bag which I purchased over 20 years ago and it is awesome and very rugged, and it has great straps and a metal enforced back.
