I bought a bright yellow North Face medium base camp duffle when I got stationed in Alaska back in 2004. Bag is now 20 years old and still going strong. Best non-fuss bag I've ever owned.
Great timing! 🙏 I was literally looking at all three of these for an upcoming trip. I was gonna get the North Face but am now considering the Mystery Ranch instead. Any chance the normal duffel handles are removable on the MR as well? That would be awesome for backpack mode.
Road warrior here, I love the TNF duffels and I did try to one bag my travel with it at one point using the backpack straps. I honestly thought I was going to injure my back by the time I got to the hotel, just didn't work for me - probably spoiled by the nice shoulder straps/suspension systems on GR, MR, etc.
The Mystery Ranch looks quite nice. And the price is good with GovX. Will pair nicely with the Dragon 2! I might need this as another travel set vs the Griffins.
Great review! I needed this 3 months ago😂. I found a Maxpedition Ironcloud used for $100. It’s fantastic but these 3 options look a lot lighter than what I got. Keep up the great work👊🏻
Picked up a 40L blackhole in Pine Needle Green…. it has become my go to bag now. 99% of my travel is from my truck to a hotel so it works perfect. I might have the side pocket modified to be more of a usable pocket, I won't probably ever need to fold it back into itself.
I haven't thought of that. I don't plan to use it that way though either. I haven't checked a bag in forever and the duffel is the larger of the two items I carry...no wheels typically
I’ve got the north face duffel! I can even use my MacBook + an iPad in the inside pocket at the same time which is nice. The 34l version has a water bottle holder one one outer side pocket wuch makes it for me, the absolute perfect Duffel. In the horse shoe pocket it is also possible to put in your shoes to have it separated from the rest of the bag.
Have you ever reviewed a BAD (Best American Duffel) Bags duffel bag? They are American made and every bit as durable and well made as those. Priced similarly as well. I have 3 different models and they are awesome. Please check them out.
Greta vid bro, thanks for this. I’m about to embark on travels for 5 months and am thinking about getting the North Face bag probably over the Patagonia considering its versatility. What litre would you recommend for my situation travelling for 5months in Australia, South America and Canada?

None of the main handles on these designs are removable. Hope that helps!
Great reviews, sir! The North Face one has a real 90s "Head" holdall style to it, but i love the Mystery Ranch colour contrast.
Cool, thanks!

Gotcha. Good to know!

Good call 👍🏻
just got the 55L mystery ranch duffel as I have 40L from mountain hardwear. Excited to get it !
😎

Oh wow! Sorry I waited so long 😜

Good stuff
I see there's no dedicated luggage pass through on the North Face. Is there any way to use the handle straps to attach to a roller luggage handle?
I haven't thought of that. I don't plan to use it that way though either. I haven't checked a bag in forever and the duffel is the larger of the two items I carry...no wheels typically

Nice! Great tip 👊🏻
Nice review, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey thanks for the video… what is the weight on the mystery?
2.8lbs

Nice! That depends on the mode of travel and the frequency of laundry stops really...amongst other factors
@@JBOutside1 Thanks for the reply :) Gonna be plane and bus mostly and probably going to wash hopefully once a week. What do you think knowing this ?
@@smartieman1000 Biggest for overhead use...40L plus a great backpack for daily use.
Oh I was curious about the new one from Nemo with the special design.
Have you seen it?
Not yet!
Great video
Appreciate that! 🙏
TNF is the best out of that group! More features!!! But also look at EagleCreek, Fjällräven and Osprey, they are amazing too!
Good stuff! Yeah a ton of options in this category
You should try the Gregory Alpaca series.
Awesome. I'll take a look
I still like my Wandrd Carryall duffels better than these mainstream brands. That loud branding is a no go for me.
I can see that point
