      I take a Duffel and a Backpack. If I'm traveling longer distances the duffel can sit on my shoulders supported by my GoRuck and I just grap either end of the duffel for stability.

      I spent 1 month around Europe with a Tom Bihn Aeronaut 30, mostly as a backpack (with the great organization of a duffel). It was amazing.

    Had the Boundary Supply Aegis duffel, but switched to a GoRuck GR2. I enjoyed the duffel, but I feel that they are best suited for car travel. I mainly travel via Air so for me I decided to switch to a dedicated backpack.
    I just got back from a nearly two month trip in Peru and I really enjoyed traveling with my GR2 40l and Patagonia Atom sling.

      Same here, I have all the sizes and either the original or the newer recycled lighter material. I love the simplicity.
      This channel tends not to ever mention REI products as they often are sponsored by backcountry. It's sad because REI has a lot of REI branded products that are fantastic for travel.

    Please stop making duffel backpack hybrids. They don't end up being good at either. I personally use the North Face Duffels in various sizes and on all of them I've removed the "shoulder straps" and replaced it with 1" tubular nylon webbing to make it easier to carry as just a normal Duffel Bag. Even then, it ends up functioning in a less than ideal manner because it's clear that it wasn't designed that way.

    Too much emphasis is made on the esthetics of the bag. A backpack is a backpack and a duffel is a duffel, why try and mesh the two. I’ve yet to come across a bag that will serve both purposes perfectly. My 10 year old Samsonite duffel is simple with three pockets and a large open space inside. If I need to take my laptop, I use my backpack or I put it in a sleeve (which most people have) and toss it into the duffel. I don’t care if a duffel has a dedicated laptop sleeve or not. Use the bag for its intended purpose !

    • @IntriguedLioness
      @IntriguedLioness Год назад

      I always take a laptop or at minimum a tablet with me and never really care about a built-in laptop sleeve. In fact, I go out of my way to avoid them.
      My laptop and/or tablet go into protective sleeves that fit my laptop specifically and much safer. I then place that sleeve in between layers of packing cubes and you cannot be more secure.
      The less pockets the better for me! I think I know the Samsonite you're speaking of and I missed out on it and haven't found a recent Samsonite that is the same.
