    That shelf system inside the bag is genius. Really makes the backpacks depth a useful feature rather than annoyance from having to dig for stuff.

    Dude I love the way you have this bag set up. I’ve kept a solid get home bag in my car for years but I’ve bumped into the issue where when we take my girlfriends car out for the day or something I just feel naked not having the essentials so I’m putting together an edc bag so I’m never without. This video was great inspiration for what a good edc bag should have. Thanks for posting this.

    That's a good low-profile pack. Nice to see a video from someone who actually uses what he's showing. Too many out there showing off the latest things their Patreon members paid for. Thanks!!!

    Seen a LOT of EDC videos but never anything on the Vanquest rucksack before. What a genius solution. Don't need it but really want it. Loving your modular approach and loadout. Very similar to mine (without the hand cannon, in the UK we send people stern letters instead). 👌🏻

      OK let me retract that statement. The bag would be $300 / £240 shipped, before import taxes. This may be a genius product but... that's a stiff price with no local repair support. Clearly great quality but... gonna have to pass 😔

    Hey,
    For needles - you know thoase small containers for mechanical pencil refills? Takes much less space and depending on the type of needle, most needles come through the hole on top, so you don't even have to open it to access them.

    Nice carry… as a female edc’er… I enjoy a good “what’s in my bag” of any kind. I enjoyed this one in particular because I am transitioning from a purse, that accomodates all of my individual EDC pouches, to a small backpack. Keep up the content! You should be at 1K soon!

    I was blown away by this video. Not because of what's in your EDC bag, but because of the quality of the video itself. I obviously don't know what your personal circumstances re: work schedule, family commitments etc, but man, you should really start to try and pump out some content. This video was suggested in my 'random suggestions' and I only clicked on it because it was a very recent video and I like EDC stuff. Anyway, after seeing that you've only posted a handful of vids, I'll accept that as to why you have less than 300 subs, because it certainly isn't the quality of your videos. If you put out content on a regular basis, I can honestly see your channel growing really fast.

      I appreciate the kind words. I've been wanting to dedicate more time to content creation and it's been tough with a busy life like you were saying. Great video so far BUT… A tampon is insufficient for any would PACKING! It will JUST do it’s normal job… That is soak up (absorb) blood. It will NOT stop any bleeding. The goal of wound packing is to take for example compressed rolled gauze with your index finger, find the source of the bleed (most likely an artery), compress the gauze & pack it, then apply a pressure bandage (but direct manual press may still be necessary). Obviously if it’s a limb, use a TQ! Save the tampons for the ladies.

    I used to carry a backpack for many years… I’ve gotten mine down to a very minimal bag ( my 10+ Y.O. 5.11 PUSH Pack) I’ve taken out all the “But I might need it!” I tried going a day then 2 days then 3 days and then if I didn’t use it more than 5-7 days I left it out. Went from 10-17lbs. to less than 5! I used to carry a Leatherman with all the accessories… Never used it. I now carry a Victorinox Deluxe Tinker with Plus scales. A small personal First-Aid kit w/ personal trauma kit because I use blood thinners. Small flashlight. Extra battery (aaa,aa,or 123 depending on which light I’m carrying) my prescription meds, sometimes a small light charging pack and cord for the phone. 21oz. water bottle. Rain poncho ( sil nylon for winter ) Fisher Space pen. Small bottle of hand sanitizer. A couple of protein bars. A N95 mask. And maybe a book. ( I’m in Hospital waiting rooms a lot ). It’s so much easier carrying a small bag! I’m not worried about having to carry it everywhere in public and where I put it down (if I’m in a restaurant) sometimes with a backpack you might not want to carry it. Out where I am you run the chance of it getting stolen if left in a car! (Thieves break into cars while people are sitting at stoplights! ( Welcome to California… )

      Love it! I've definitely thinned out over the years and used to carry my pack at all times. Now my pack is always in my truck and I have on body items (knife, flashlight, pen, wallet, CCW) and depending on where I'm at I'll bring the pack on body with me as well. Would for sure bring it in the hospital waiting room! Thanks for watching

    I respect the fact that you have spare space and empty pockets. My 40L EDC backpack is packed out to the brim and probably weighs 50+ pounds. I'm not saying this to gloat, it's ridiculous. I've thought about making a video showing it and talking about how ridiculous it is to have so much stuff that isn't even carryable. Sheesh.

  • @rooslovesjesus

    I always carry my bagpack, with some things in it.
    -towel
    -first aid kit that I expamded a bit.
    -period stuff
    -gloves because im a cleaner
    - handsanitizer
    -soap
    -wipes
    -and my own neccesities.
    I dont really needs all that stuff with the work I do and the places I go. But it think everyone should at least have a first aid kit even a tiny one on them.

    Concerning the medication, I do believe your friend was referring to prescription medications. Check your local and state laws but as far as im aware over the counter meds can be carried however you want, while carrying prescription meds out of the proper bottle would land you a felony per different pill type. This is the case in my state however yours might be different but I think thats kind of a nation wide thing, a rain poncho might another nice thing to have in there. 👍

    • @SixEightOutdoors
      @SixEightOutdoors  Год назад

      It's generally recommended all drugs even OTC even when legal since cops may hassle you especially in drug pusher territory. May even get detained until it's tested. Really depends on the "culture" where you live as well as the law.

    • @jeffdur1330
      @jeffdur1330 11 месяцев назад

      @SixEightOutdoors I got pulled over in AZ and had an unlabeled pill bottle and got arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. It's a felony and literally been on my record for over 20 years. It's crazy. I've since used a keychain pill container but that's still illegal. It's easier now because I can just show them my online prescription record but it's still a felony.
      Edit: the type of medication doesn't matter, it's anything prescription.

  • @thatguy2408
    @thatguy2408 9 месяцев назад

    Nice bag. Mine is a little different but no bag should be alike. It should be tailored to the individual.
    My suggestions:
    1.) caffeine pills. Absolutely no reason not to have these in your pack. Lightweight, durable and can be eaten on the fly. And is without a doubt the most overlooked item in most bags/bag videos.
    2.) a durable pry bar that would fit in the pack. Makes an improvised weapon and can use to open vending machines if the power is out. Can also use to gain entry to buildings to help keep you out of sight if necessary. I carry one mainly because I am mostly urban environment and most spigots you will see at building have some sort lock/cage so my silcock will do nothing for me, but with a pry bar . . . access granted 😂
    3.) a poncho (self explanatory)
    4.) a compact pair of binoculars. Knowing what’s ahead can save your life.
    There are a few more but these are the first things I would add (except some additional items to protect me from weather).
    Love your food bag. I am of the same opinion that food should be ready to eat with no prep. Fires should be avoided unless completely necessary. And food prep is not a necessity, in my book it’s just poor planning.

    But something to try. Instead of zipping zippers all the way to one side, try zipping up to the middle.
    That way you don’t have to fully unzip the whole bag. You can just open what you need to reach in.
    It comes down to preference and what works for you. But how I’ve learned to run my bags.

    Not hating or anything but prep medic has a video covering tampons as possible first aid and unfortunately they do not have enough of seal to effectively cover the wound to induce a blood clot.

    What's the weight of this kit
    EDC
    It looks like you are carrying a trickle trunk of toys
    Can you book up 10 flights of stairs
    Otherwise Kool

      @@TerryDacey Not sure what a trickle trunk is lol but the pack weighs a little less than 10 lbs. I dont even notice it's on, but could be an issue some people 🤷🏾‍♂️

    Tampons seem on the surface as a good wound packer, but their absorbancy is horrible, they clog out waaaaaaay faster than you think, NAR compressed gauze is like 6 dollars, just get 2 of those

    I used to carry pills as well outside of their container. After 2 weeks some of them went from white to brown, i can imagine some pills will change over time without any visual changes...

    Definitely need to lose ALL of the Duracell batteries. Those cheap things leak and will eventually destroy your equipment. Spend the money and go with Energizer Lithium batteries that have a 10 year shelf-life.

    • @SixEightOutdoors
      @SixEightOutdoors  Год назад

      Idk if its user error or whatever, but I've used those before and seemed like they died just as fast if not faster than cheap duracells or regular Energizers. Pretty pricey too. These are just what I had lying around but you should check out Project Farm's Channel and he does a battery comparison video. Based on his results regular ole Energizers seem to be the best overall. Thanks for watching!

      YES, duracells have ruined several flashlights, headlamps and other items I have. Finally went thru everything that uses batteries and removed all duracells and threw them away. They had even leaked in flashlights that still worked, and ruined them, couldn’t even get them out they were so corroded.😡😡

    pouch above that, cord and straps in case I bring anything home, pliers, 8 bit screwdriver, adjustable wrench
    small pocket on pack, some first aid, another lighter, other fire starting, small roll vinyl tape, space blanket,
    middle pocket on pack, spare socks, knee wrap, ankle wrap, 4" by 48" ace bandage, spare hat, bandana, mechanics gloves, blaclava
