That poor cow! I grew up on a farm with cows and love them. Y’all were so kind to stop and help it get out of the water. Fun watching y’all go down the river in your boat! Wish we could travel down a river in our houseboat. We are locked in on Lake Lanier.
Yeah, I hope they got her home. The Animal control officer had a pretty good idea of where she came from, so I suspect this has occurred in this area before. Yes, being able to travel the rivers is very peaceful and rewarding. The smaller and wilder the river, the better. The interesting thing about rivers, at least around in this area, is they can go through urban areas and still seem remote. I find that quite interesting being how most of the towns exist because of the river being there. It seems like most small towns have turned their backs on the rivers. Lanier is a pretty lake though. Interestingly, I live in a community called Lanier. Old Sidney got around, didn't he!
@@justkeepgoing oh wow, funny coincidence that you live in a community named Lanier. He sure did get around ha ha ha. Lake Lanier is quite close to Atlanta, so the south end is pretty busy. We like going to the north part, under a bridge that most houseboats don't go under, to find our off-grid houseboat camping spots...we like the wild stuff, too 😀. Interesting observation about rivers in urban areas still feeling remote. We've seen that in Atlanta, when we used to live there.
I looked at that! Benton bridge looks like it's about as far as you can go on the Chattahoochee. What about the Chestatee, how far can you get north there? I have operated in 2.5 ft of water, but it wasn't comfortable. I wouldn't do that in a rocky bottom. We take our pontoon boat where some kayakers fear to tread, which gets us in trouble sometimes.
I enjoy your videos... peaceful, like a day on the water should be. I was stationed at Ft. Campbell in the 70s so I got to fish some of the waterways you travel.
Thanks for the comment, Gary! We overnighted at the Clarksville marina and took an Uber into town on a resupply mission. My cousin's husband was stationed up there at Ft. Cambell in the early-mid 70's.
I live on the Mississippi River in West Central Illinois, this boat would be perfect to go south to Florida in around October, do that part of the loop , then head back up home here around March
Yes, I have seen Brent's backroads. His first hobo was the 26' and the second one he bought was the exact same model as mine, but he ended up selling it before we used it. I think he found the "beagle barge" and went that route instead. I watched his series where he went down to FL during late fall.
Hi Susan, This part of the trip was on Watts Bar reservoir on the Tennessee River between Kingston Tn and Lenoir City Tn. The locks are the Fort Loudoun dam. Once through the dam, we headed up the Little Tennessee River.
@@lillianmarion2939, If it's a later model, I'm pretty sure the engines have the NMEA plugs on their computers to interface with your vessel devices. Looks like it would be quite a bit more expensive in that setup. It doesn't show how to display the fuel burn rate specifically, but what you need to do to connect your GPS/Chartplotter to your motor. A cow with a high fever will get in the water like that causing them to be in danger. Another great boating story.
