    Thanks again. I love these videos. My wife and I are expecting our new Lil Hobo later this year after a long long wait. These videos get me so excited I can hardly wait. I will be getting as intellisteer after seeing it in Slo-mo! Great idea.

      Wow, new! That's great! Best of luck with your new Hobo! What part of the country are you in? I rank the Intellisteer as one of the best decisions I made when upgrading my boat. If you will be traveling long days on the river it makes it so much nicer to be able to have a front row seat with your wife out on the deck. Thanks for watching.

      @@justkeepgoing We are in Utah. The Lil Hobo will be a lake boat, mostly Lake Powell. But Flaming Gorge, Mead and several other super awesome lakes will be on the list. I have a lot of modifications and additions planned for the new boat. I appreciate noticing the efforts and things that you have done to Slo-Mo. Solar, water maker, auto anchor winch, intellisteer are planned. Thanks again, I look forward to the next video. Did you do all the work on Slow-Mo?

      @ThisLilHobo, man, that is a beautiful state! We've ridden all around the state on motorcycle but no time on the lakes. Looks like you're getting plenty of water out there just in time for your new boat.
      Yes, I put in an entire year refitting Slo-Mo. I even bought a TIG and learned to weld aluminum so I could make my own handrails, canopies, etc. I hadn't planned on having to do so much work, but the more I dug the more "things" I uncovered that needed attention. You'll not have to worry with that.

What a wonderful country Americia is. I will now look forward to watching the other videos, when I am having my after lunch naps. Thanks again.

    I have really enjoyed these first four episodes! I live near Lebanon and have canoed or visited many of the areas you've covered so far in these videos - I greatly appreciate your cinematography! I'm usually too busy paddling along, so it has been a real treat to see your arial videos and footage along the bluffs. You've definitely got me dreaming of my own Tennessee loop tour. And thanks for turning me onto the Engineers of the Twin Rivers book - I found a physical copy to add to my library for help dewaming about my own future trips. Thanks again, and I hope to see more of your trip when you find time to edit more video together.

      "Hello Scott! Thanks for checking out the video! I wish I had read the Twin Rivers book before we went on the trip, but I didn't discover it until later when I was researching these old lock locations. Besides, the historical record of the entire waterway would have changed our perspective of the river while we traveled.
      Yeah, I've got to buckle down and get to work on the rest of these videos, or it's going to take me years to get them done. This summer has just been challenging, time-wise, for me to sit down and do it. I've got to get with it, though, as we are planning another, somewhat shorter cruise this September."

    The city view in the evening had to be beautiful. Too bad people have to destroy things for quick money. Few people make drone footage interesting but you blend it with your vlogs where it really adds to the journey.

      Lawrence, It was pretty at night, but noisy. I still prefer the remote and quite coves where you just hear owls, frogs, and the breeze. Thank you for the comment.

My husband and I sure are enjoying your videos. We live out in the country on the Knox/Whitley line on the farm that has been in our family since 1876, I’m the 5th generation to live there, my son is the sixth generation.

      We know your area well. We've ridden the backroads on our motorcycle many times in that area. A favorite route is up 25W, then Hwy 90, and finally Hwy 1595, back over to 92. We've ridden all over Eastern Kentucky.

      Just watched your Chattanooga episode. I grew up in Chattanooga and moved to Nashville when I was 21. I’ve lived in Nashville for 43 years as a professional trombone player. Going to retire when I turn 65. I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively both in and outside of our country but feel so lucky to live in Tennessee. (I’m currently in Honolulu working but heading to Montana tomorrow to visit our grand daughters before heading to Tokyo for 10 days. I have many questions about how you’ve outfitted your boat. We love ours and center hill lake but a trip like this would be an incredible adventure. Thanks so much for these videos!

    I'd love to see y'all do America's Great Loop in this boat. A couple of spots might be challenging, but I think she's up for it if you can find the time for a 6000 mile journey.

    • @justkeepgoing
      @justkeepgoing  Год назад

      Hi Tammy! It would be a challenge on the ICW and in the Great Lakes for sure. With very little freeboard, it just takes about 2-3ft seas to come over the bow. I'm sure it has been done in this type of boat before.
      We have the time, but I don't think grandma can be away from the grandkids that long, LOL!

    On each leg of your trip what is your top speed, and average speed? Or if known, how many hours of travel per day?

    • @justkeepgoing
      @justkeepgoing  Год назад +1

      On the Cumberland leg, it took us 9 days to cover the 330 miles. That's about 37 river miles per day and I would say that we traveled on average, about 8-9 hours per day. So, we averaged around 5mph most days. I'm not sure of top speed, maybe 13 mph at one point below a dam in strong current.
      On the upriver leg on the Tennesse, we were against the current. We covered those 620 miles in 20 days (one day we didn't move). So that would be about 32 miles per day. Again, we were usually on the water by 9am and at anchor (or marina) by 6pm. In the real world, the miles and time per day were highly variable. One day we traveled over 60 miles due to strong current, and on another, just 12. Our initial planning target was 25 miles per day because we had never done this before, and I allowed for way more contingencies than we experienced. Now I use around 30-35, depending on which way the current is going.

    What’s the range on that boat? How did you do finding fuel and Marinas to fuel up along the way? We would love to take a trip like that

    • @justkeepgoing
      @justkeepgoing  Год назад

      Hi Robert! In a perfect world, with our 40gallon tank and best cruise, it would be about 220 miles. Given wind, current, and operation outside of the economy mode, we set our range to 150 max. We use the Garmin Active Captain app(free app) to check the marinas. our chart plotter, being a Garmin, also contains the marina data and is synched with the app on my phone. There is also a web-based version at activecaptain.garmin.com/
      Garmin isn't the only tool out there for planning though.
      It never was a problem to find fuel. If traveling at night or off season it might be a little more challenging. We also carried a 5-gal gas can as a backup, just in case we needed to head to shore in the dingy and walk to a gas station near the river to get fuel (never used it). Of course, we were on a major river system so your mileage may vary if you're planning to travel a more remote river. Still, with a little planning, it should be pretty easy.

I'll take your feedback into consideration for future videos. Music has to be one of the toughest things to do and being a rank novice at this, it helps to find what works and what doesn't.
