I have never seen these crayons used like this before. Your drawing is beautiful and watching you use these on it was delightful. You have inspired me.
So beautiful! I love Neocolor II's. I like to use a wet brush on the tips to pull color from them, they are so creamy and smooth. Your son will love them!
I’m even gonna say that they are the only "coloring" art supply that he actually likes because of how pigmented they are and because they are like watercolors in crayon form. They are wonderful, I don’t regret buying them at all.
I would have liked to have seen the finished painting. It was looking absolutely amazing. You are a very talented artist. Your drawing was so beautiful. And I enjoyed learning about the Neocolor II pastels, I had never seen an artist use them before.
Neocolor IIs are awesome! They're great for sketching, illustrations, and underpaintings. If you have the full 84 set, they're wonderful just by themselves for finished art too. Love your videos and glad to see you're trying Neocolor II now, as they complement pastels nicely. Most of the Neocolor II range is also lightfast, so the colors won't fade. If you haven't already, give the Neocolor Is (Neocolor One) a try sometime- they're water-resistant wax but can also be diluted with mineral spirits for watercolor effects, similar to using mineral spirits on color pencils. Thank you for sharing! ^-^
Thank you! They are really very cool! I may get a few of the Neocolor ones to create some watercolor resist but for now I’ll be playing with this. I’m kinda regretting not getting a bigger set though 🙈 it’s true, they are surprisingly lightfast, I didn’t expect it
Love the video. I got a set of Neocolor 2 recently. I’m still experimenting with how to use them but so far , so good. I use Neopastels over them and enjoy the combination.
I like these under other mediums! I like how you put them through their paces, your Art is lovely! I use watercolors and color pencils on top of these neocolor II's as pastels and they work well with the Neocolor I's for wax resist!
Thank you for sharing! I had heard that they do well under colored pencils but I haven’t tried it yet. I will! ☺️ one or two Neocolor I could be fun before adding watercolor for some fun effects
This was a beautiful piece absolutely lovely! Although, when you mentioned ordering a few more colors at the end of the video I started giggling because we've all been there trying to be good and not order a huge set only to fall in love and wish we had more. 😂 This was so relatable and now I'm dying to know what other colors you just had to have! 😂 I love your videos and thanks for sharing your lovely art with us. But seriously what colors did you choose? 😊 I thought you did a great job picking out the ones you did to add to the set. I know a lot of artist get the 10 or 15 set to take traveling keeping the bigger set at home so at least you have a traveling tin.
Hahaha 😂 we all find ourselves there, time and time again. I kinda wish I got the 30 set mostly for the tin but you’re right and the 15 one will be perfect to travel with 🥰 I should show the extra colors in a different video. Surprisingly I don’t feel like I need any more of them (and that’s rare!)
Hello! I am having the Néocolor II and they are super fun to use even dry with colour pencil Prismacolor Premier (wax base) and with Tombow or Chameleons markers or alcohol markers! I don’t use them a lot as watercolor! But I could me interesting as first layering! Those are my favorite tools for my artworks mostly! 😊 from Canada 🇨🇦
Yeah I don’t see myself using them as watercolors either but they are fun! I heard they combine well with colored pencils. I’m new to them but really liking them ☺️
I would like to see more portraits with them. I recommend you watch the video by Margot Hallac about the Neocolor 2's, the way she uses them seems like a good way to use them. Good job.
Hi, Yolanda❤ Oh, it's the same pastel You used when You drew a bird? Wax pastel! The painting is so beautiful💓Thank you for the review video. And I bought a table easel after watching your video the other day. Thank you very much.💕
Hello Yolanda Thank you for testing this out for us. In my country (Thailand), Caran d'ache are quite expensive. Making it unsuitable for buying to testing. For this video, I think I would have preferred the watercolor pencils . Because using it should be easier than this. Have a nice day, Have a nice time Mariss
I think Caran d’Ache is pretty expensive everywhere tbh… I found them open stock for a pretty good price though. Their watercolor pencils look amazing and I’ve always been curious but I don’t see how they would be more convenient than regular watercolor, and a lot more expensive since I feel I would need a lot of pencils rather than just a few tubes of watercolor.
I love your amazing work!! It's truly perfect!!! I have a question are all your paintings from imagination or do you use reference photos? I haven't heard you talk about that so I wonder if you can give advice on where to get such great images for inspiration.
I got 3 colors to try them last week and I was pleasantly surprised. They were way more creamy than I thought they would be. I thought they would be more like plastidecors but watersoluble and I found them to be more like a waxy oil pastel
I thought just the same! And was also comparing them with plastidecors in my mind 🤭 they are like a very fancy version of them with the added bonus of being water soluble
I loved the process though I'm not a big fan of crayons(probably it's been a while since I've last used these) though seeing you working with makes me wanna try this medium. And the drawing was just exquisite 😍
I honestly didn’t know what to expect and could only compare them with the plasticolors I had as a child but they’re nothing like those. Neocolors are surprisingly creamy ☺
Well, I like what you do with it. Mix wet/dry, with finesse... and the result has a very beautiful personality, perhaps much more than the oil pastel which may be too perfect (but magnificent, in your work of course ;)). But these neocolor II could clearly improve your work! I really want to see other creations you could paint with it! Thank you for this little overview, already :*
Thank you so much! I get what you mean, at the moment I also prefer to work in this way. It’s much faster, less elaborate and less intense than with oil pastels. To get a good result with oil pastels I need to spend much more time and effort than with other mediums and I don’t always feel like it 🙈 I’m enjoying the more sketchy look as well
your painting is very beautiful. I have that Neocolor II for some time. rarely use. I also don't see very much advantage related to watercolor or other mediums. I wonder if you use any kind of protection on that painting after finished. Because These Neocolor II, if you don't use water, are a material that is always at risk of damaging the artwork. Even if you use water, it doesn’t become permanent. Thank you."
Thank you Cristina. I use them primarily for sketching so I don’t bother protecting them but they haven’t smudged or turned bad. There’s one painting I did of my son that I’d like to protect however and to do that I just place a sheet of glassine on top of it. I guess you could also use some fixative if you wanted to
How do they compare to soft oil pastel like gallery? I feel like these wax crayons are easy to control and stick to paper better but they don’t lay down much like oil pastel and not easy to get a uniform layer.
I don’t think they are similar to oil pastels at all, only that they both offer bright colors but the application and look is very different in my opinion. And these don’t blend much if any.
I have this set and I really like them. You can use them in a normal fashion like the Neocolor I, but you must remember these are not wax pastels, they are water soluble pastels. They really shine & blend beautifully with a bit of water. Thanks for the review! Also, I need to get a cool grey.😊
Your painting, so beautiful 🌼 there is another way to use them like Gouache, you can make opaque paint from the shavings, then there are no marks. But I also like the textured character of them. So versatile.
Sorry if I missed it, but what kind of paper are you using? I have a set of these, and have tried them on a wide variety of papers, and they didn't lay down color like that!
Since you don't have Patreon anymore, would you put the full tutorials up here on your channel? We want to learn from you, very much. You don't have to put them all up, but one full tutorial would be so awesome. Wish we could pay for them.
I have never seen these crayons used like this before. Your drawing is beautiful and watching you use these on it was delightful. You have inspired me.
Thanks so much 😊 I think most artists use them differently, in a bolder way and with thicker marks
So beautiful! I love Neocolor II's. I like to use a wet brush on the tips to pull color from them, they are so creamy and smooth. Your son will love them!

Thank you so much! I think they are pretty popular in mix media works but with a different approach than mine, with bolder marks

I really enjoy using the Neocolor 1 with the Derwent blender pen, since I don't really like using the mineral spirits.
Actually it's not on the colour it's the artist who knows how to draw 😍😍😍
Thank you 🥰 although good paints help
I just got these too and was hoping I’d see you with them. Would love to see you work with them more in the future☺️
I’m glad to hear that since I really like them ☺❤
Love the video. I got a set of Neocolor 2 recently. I’m still experimenting with how to use them but so far , so good. I use Neopastels over them and enjoy the combination.
I still have to try them together but I’m sure these would work great as a base. I’m glad that you like them too ☺

It's true
Yes, they are expensive. They're Professional level pigment paint ... they certainly aren't "crayons" for children.
I love your amazing work!! It's truly perfect!!! I have a question are all your paintings from imagination or do you use reference photos? I haven't heard you talk about that so I wonder if you can give advice on where to get such great images for inspiration.

Thank you so much! ❤
Wow real delicacy of technique. Beautiful.
Thanks a lot!

@@YolandaBlazquez Thanks so much.
You can use them over oil pastel, but just like coloured pencil they will scrape back the softer medium rather than sit on top of it.
Yeah, that’s what I imagined so not that useful for adding those last few details
@@YolandaBlazquezNo, you still can. Do you watch Misako Flodin's videos? She uses coloured pencils for detailing her oil pastel work.
I don’t know how she does it 😅 mine scrape the oil pastel

Thanks a lot 🥰 I’m glad that you liked it
Those materials look very good, nice video
They are! Thank you 😊
You said they don’t fit a bigger piece with lots of work but will you try it?
Great work..❤❤
Bellisimo trabajo y excelente marca !!!!
Muchas gracias!! ❤
Lovely artwork.
Thank a lot!
Always a great pleasure!
Thank you 🥰🥰

Gracias , se aprende muchisimo con este tipo de contenidos!!!
Muchas gracias a ti ❤️
Hola Yolanda que bellos colores no los conocía, me los voy a comprar
Muchas gracias! Están chulísimos, me encanta lo mucho que pigmentan y lo rápido que se trabajan
I love my set❤
What sharpener/technique do you use to get your crayons so sharp?
For example Faber-Castell GRIP 2001 Dreifachspitzdose. So nice and sharp results
Your painting, so beautiful 🌼 there is another way to use them like Gouache, you can make opaque paint from the shavings, then there are no marks. But I also like the textured character of them. So versatile.
Incredible!
Thank you!
I love them!
They are amazing! I feel I’m late to the party haha
@@YolandaBlazquez Your right on time! Enjoy! Have a wonderful day!
You too! Have a nice day
What did you use to sharpen them?
Sorry if I missed it, but what kind of paper are you using? I have a set of these, and have tried them on a wide variety of papers, and they didn't lay down color like that!
I’m not sure I mentioned it but mine seem to give this color pay off in all papers. This was on arches hot press paper though ☺
Yeh it is kind of like watercolor pencils good for sketching but paint to draw with.
At least you can sharpen them easily ☺
