I honestly can't thank you enough for introducing me to Jack of All Trades, I can't remember ever enjoying a show quite this much (except maybe Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger)
For anyone who doesn't actually know (and wants to), the whole "Half-shell" part from the TMNT theme was done by altering multiple voices via incremental pitch shifting. It's a pretty cool effect actually.
Thanks for the nice review of "Jack of All Trades", it's always been one of my favorite "go-to" shows when I'm feeling sad or depressed. Great cast and production values, and Verne Troyer was fantastic as Napoleon (very sad to hear about his recent passing).
Anyone else notice that the little bird in Jack of all trades on that dude's shoulder is not a prop. It's actually a real bird that the crew took the time to make a tiny outfit for just for a very brief 2 second shot. That is so cool. For me it's kind of hard for me to pick my favorite intro. I grew up more on cartoons and enjoyed those more than live action intros because you can do more with it.
Hello. I finally got around to watching the full show after seeing it in this video all these years ago... and that bird Jean Claude plays a supporting role as the messenger parrot :).
Seeing the beetlejuice opening here made me curious of the cartoon as I had only ever seen the movie. It is now one of my favorite cartoons ever. Thanks Nostalgia Critic!
@@gingermcgingin1733 as a kid i saw the edited for tv version of the movie, and then the series, i love them both so. BJ is just a pinch more enjoyable because he's more an antihero than a hater of the living villain. also Lydia is ever so charming in both the toon and movie, i still want a daughter like her, not broody but goth and yet have a smile that illuminates the darkest of hours.
The Beetlejuice opening, no matter what mood I'm in, never fails to make me smile this huge cheshire cat-esque grin. That first "Beetlejuice" and those first notes play, and I'm already smiling like an idiot. And, although the humor is pure cheese and mainly lame puns, it makes me laugh and I actually feel happy when I watch Beetlejuice.

While I also love the MASH intro, it doesn't really set the tone for the series (maybe for the later seasons when Alda started directing more). It was always kind of jarring to me to have this melancholic intro and jump straight into campy music with a laugh track on many episodes (especially in the first couple of seasons).
+Kemonokami I know exactly what you mean about how much of a bar that X-Men: The Animated Series raised for me in preparing me for all of the movies. And remember that Hugh Jackman, once he was cast as Logan/Wolverine, didn't know anything about the character coming in, but afterwards got issues of the comics and then whenever he was filming actually ad-libbed "BUB" into his lines to give that authentic accuracy to the character and helped to make it his own and it was all because of this show.
+Kemonokami I still stand by how much the animated series has risen the bar for me on my expectations with how I want Oscar Isaacs to portray En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse. I have even stood by and said that I want to hear Oscar say, just one time, one phrase that totally embodies Apocalypse in every way, "I am far beyond mutants as they are beyond you." I know that it cannot be said as deep or as epically as that one guy from the show but as long as he says it I will totally GEEKGASM in that theater.
+Patrick Shutt That's how I was about spoiler here saying part of Captain America's "river of truth" speech, and in Agents of Shield the LMD reference.
My list: 11. The Twilight Zone 10. Arthur 9. Recess 8. Daredevil 7. Buffy The Vampire Slayer 6. X-Men 5. The Incredible Hulk (1996 animated series) 4. Beetlejuice 3. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes 2. Batman The Animated Series 1. Doctor Who
+Ffoolish Mixer But it's not Japanese. Besides which; both U.S. and Britain are English-speaking countries so it does technically count. Fun fact: the TMNT theme song was written by Chuck "God of Awful Sitcoms" Lorre in less than 24 hours, using a synthesizer and a session band. He was making jingles at the time, heard a new kids show was coming out and needed a theme, and asked to be given a shot. He wasn't told he could until less than a day before the pilot was to be aired, requiring him to rent a studio, hire musicians, and write the song as quickly as possible. The show surprisingly holds up today (once you get past the horrid acting in the first season, and even then the stories were good, they just had no budget or professional actors), but that intro should have made all the kids watching run off screaming into the night, not keep watching.
I grew up with Danny phantom, spectacular spiderman, SpongeBob, teenage mutant ninja turtles (2003 TV series), Drake and Josh, samurai jack, flap jack, avatar the last airbender, and teen Titans
This brought back so many memories and emotions from my childhood days living in America.. Your videos are so satisfying and insightful. Can’t wait for more of your videos this year. Hope you have an amazing year 🎉
Noah Carson Especially since Batman the Animated Series IS The Nostalgia Critic's favorite show as a child. As well as the intro is a visual marvel to watch. There's no singer, no "Staring *insert voice actor, as *insert character, hell there's no title. There's just the amazing opening, amazing music and the last scene of Batman posing while a lightning bolt appears, revealing Batman is, you guessed it, amazing.
I WAS LITERALLY SAYING TO MYSELF "Beetlejuice has to be here somewhere" and imagine how happy I was when it was #1! It was one of my favourite shows as a kid and I watched the movie for the first time not too long ago.
You're only doing American shows???? How can you do that when British shows like The Secret Show, The Demon Headmaster and Doctor Who had such freaking amazing intros??? Also it staggers me that you missed off Teen Titans!
As much as I love Phineas and Ferb, the intro to one of the best cartoon shows that ever aired on Disney XD was awesome. That is where you'll hear Candace Flynn (voiced by Ashley Tisdale) say, "Mom! Phineas and Ferb are making a title sequence." at the end. Even the theme song was awesome. I mean, if Phineas and Ferb had won the Emmy award for best-animated series, that would've made sense. The intro gets me hyped up for some wacky, and inventive adventures whenever I change the channel.
Coop & Cami Ask the World is an awesome, but kind of funny family sitcom. I hadn't seen the entire show when it first premiered on Disney Channel back in 2018. But when I had Disney Plus, I really enjoyed it. The most important thing about it was the intro where Dakota Lotus, Ruby Rose Turner, Olivia Sanabia, Paxton Booth, Albert Tsai, and Rebecca Metz who sang, danced, and did all sorts of crazy stuff. It even had an excellent theme song that asked the question "Would you rather do that?". I may be a fan who loves Coop & Cami, but the intro was pure genius.
You know, there once was a show that became the Harry Potter of all animated shows. I'm talking of course about The Owl House. Whenever I was ready to see what was going to happen to Luz Noceda, Edalyn Clawthorne, King, and the rest of the gang from the Boiling Isles, I saw the intro to it. I saw Luz falling, I saw Willow, Gus, and Amity, and even saw Luz, Eda, and King flying! If I wanted to see the entire series, I might check it out for sure. And if I wished The Owl House on DVD, I would buy it and watch the entire show and see how it all began.
As much as I love Gabby Duran and the Unsittables, I always loved that epic show intro. I mean, I love Kylie Cantrall singing the theme song, but I also loved how she threw an apple into the blob’s mouth, gave it a shower, and even kicked the robot ball way up in the air inside the alien basement. Heck, I always thought a show about a girl who babysits aliens could be pretty weird! The intro to one of Disney Channel’s best shows gets me excited for some crazy alien adventures every time I change the channel!
Where's Transformers? Where's Power Rangers? Where's Darkwing Duck? Where's Ducktales? Where's Batman the Animated Series? Where's G.I. Joe? Where's Family Guy? Where's 70s Spiderman? Where's American Dad? Where am I?
I was happy enough to see Tales from the Crypt on the list, but I seriously was NOT expecting the Beetlejuice cartoon to be #1! I squealed like an idiot when it came on! 😄
Since everyone seemed to talk about cartoon intros, how about the Mission Impossible TV show intro? With the lit fuse burning across the screen, and the faces of the stars being cut into the letters of the title? Or the original Star Trek Intro with the shots of the Enterprise traveling through space. Sure, it's a narration voice over, but it's one of the most famous voice overs in a television show.
GreenSoap I'd be fine with him reviewing anime if he didn't ignore the original versions and didn't just go for the 4kids ones. Kinda like when he did the Pokemon and Digimon movies.
The KaBlammer Wasn't Ed one of Doug's favorite all time characters? Anyway, he has said that while he does enjoy a few anime, he doesn't have the time to watch more. Hell, he doesn't even have time to keep up with American cartoons.
You're right - I thought this video was older than that. But as someone else said, he may have considered it too recent to be included. After all, he's the Nostalgia Critic. :)
Batman: TAS, Ducktales, and Spider-Man (90s) all had great intros as well. I really thought Batman and Ducktales were gonna make your list, and thought one of them was gonna be number 1, until you unveiled it. I forgot all about Beetlejuice. I remember Bucky O’Hare as well. Great opening song, really captured the spirit of how cartoon intros used to be.
My favorite TV theme when I was a kid was Justice League Unlimited. It always pumped me up every time I heard it & made me feel like I could be a superhero too.
When Gabby Duran And The Unsittables premiered on Disney Channel in October 2019, I was a huge fan of Kylie Cantrall's. I knew all the words to all the songs she sung. The intro to the show was spectacular! I saw her in the opening throwing an apple into the blob's mouth, giving it a bath, even kicking that robot ball way up in the air in the comms room and cleaning up the floor. It gets me hyped up whenever I'm in the mood for some awesome alien babysitting adventures. The intro to Gabby Duran And The Unsittables was an idea so cool, it had to be good.
The intro to Disney's Jessie begins with episode clips from seasons 1 through 4 and ends with Debby Ryan riding an elevator and waving hello to Peyton List, Karan Brar, Skai Jackson, Cameron Boyce, Kevin Chamberlain and even a pet lizard. I kinda loved the intro to the show even to this day. It's a cool waste of time, but it's a fun waste of time.
I loved the intro to Secrets of Sulphur Springs. It had two kids finding a girl who's running around in the forest and the part where a daily newspaper was sitting on the ground and says that she's missing. It also has gags right before every episode at the end. I couldn't even believe why the music was short. The Secrets of Sulphur Springs intro gets me ready for some thrilling mysteries. I even kept hearing that season two is coming up next year on Disney Channel. And I hope the cast of the show will review recaps from the show really soon.
When The Ghost & Molly McGee premiered on Disney Channel, I was a huge fan of it. I loved that kick ass intro because it had Molly, Scratch, Darryl, Sharon and Peter hugging each other. The best part about it is Molly McGee getting so excited because she made friends with a ghost named Scratch. It's cool, fun, awesome and a thousand times more epic than other Disney Channel show intros. It gets me hyped up for some way cool and wacky supernatural adventures.
You know, back in February of this year, I was watching a new show that changed every person's life forever. I'm talking about Marvel's Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur. Even the intro was amazing! The animation was spectacular, the theme song was unforgettable, even Diamond White sang the entire theme song. What can I say, but it's an amazingly fun time!
***** metalocalypse is equal parts brutal and comedy. like the lines :toki wartooth not a bumblebee! or pickles thr drummer doodly doodle doo! it's hard not to love it.
Now the super-long intro for Pee Wee makes sense. Every 30 second theme song has a full length version, and since they were able to get Cyndi Lauper, they didn't want to waste her.
Jurassic Reptile AND the godzilla power hour! Ironically though, the Godzilla: the series, based on the american movie, is sonciered FAR, FAR better, to the point, many godzilla fans (who despise the 98 movie and want to burn it and everyone involved in nuclear fire) quite like it. mostly cause it givesd the new zilla a lot of powers back.
no batman intro? that was the stuff.... dark, foreboding, art deco. as a kid it felt SO adult when you watched it. Hell, even my dad watched it quietly when I had it on.
***** I thought that he just said no Japanese shows but apparently he did specify only American shows which is sad since this great opening got snubbed.
Jackson DeStefano yeup lol I had no idea either until I looked it up. In fact, there is a new season of the show, but it's done in live action with only the parts in lyoko being animated (still cgi) and it is completely in french. You might be able to find a subtitled version somewhere X3
i would have to nominate code lyoko. it's mainly clips from the show but with the blend of 2d and 3d shots trough the xana eye and of course that kick at theme song really make it something else.
Dude, I miss Batman Animated Series intro, Spiderman Intro (1994) and Biker Mice from Mars Intro, Nascar racers intro. The Real Ghostbusters Intro, Pirates Of Dark Water Intro and Defenders of the Earth Intro.
ReaderGamerSinger I'm not surprised, the only shows which stand out where the intro is concerned in your list are Gravity Falls and Daredevil. the others are kind of generic.
I agree with you on Johnny Quest. That is a great cartoon, I never saw Jack of all trades but I like that theme tune, it sounds like a seashanty, I never saw a episode of Peewee's playhouse but I have seen toys of Charrie and Teri online. I adore X-men, it is no wonder that it is popular with autistic children, I am autistic so I love it and I love it when the X-men run towards the brotherhood with cillvillians panicking in the middle. I have seen the Twilight zone, I never saw an episode of the Outer limits but I saw the opening and I saw a parody of it on the Simpsons. I wonder if anyone watching it actually tried to adjust their television set.
The Dexter intro. Even though it seems plain and kind of boring, it actually sets up the character of Dexter perfectly in that one minute. Doing all of those morning routines like anybody else would but stil telling you that something not right.
+Ethan Lawrence That and Game of Thrones imo. A simple map flyover meant to indicate where everyone is located and where they hold influence turned into an intricate mechanism that basically shows how essential the Houses of Westeros are while also implying their world is on the inside of the planet is pretty awesome.
No Batman TAS? Animaniacs? Freakazoid? The Amazing Spdier-man? Teen Titans, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Futurama, the Simpsons, Jessica Jones, Daredevil. All of them better than Jack of All Trades or Johnny Quest or Pee-Wee's!
Some show openings that I would have included would have to be: Cybersix Reboot Shadow Raiders Batman Beyond The Muppets Show Megas XLR Samurai Jack Dexter's Laboratory The Magic School Bus Bill Nye the Science Guy Disney's Recess Men In Black (the Tv series) Godzilla (the tv series from the 90s) any others?
Athavan Rajasingham The Godzilla series was such a MAJOR improvement over the film. It's a shame that it was one of the countless shows that got lost during the Pokemon/Digimon war.
Athavan Rajasingham Eh, maybe just the justice league show. Don't get me wrong, the Justice League Unlimited opening, like the show, was pretty great, but the original show's opening just seemed to have a lot more epicness and majesty (even if it did have kind of laughable CGI effects).
***** he has stated various times that he is not going to do anime or "girly" things, because that would be sage or the nostalgia chicks, territory respectively.
Jack, Girly territory isn't a problem anymore. He's done Sailor Moon, Swan Princess, and Mamma Mia. But he's still not gonna do MLP. Also the Nostalgia Chick retired
Scott Sandler I did not watch the other ones, but the Sailor Moon one was pretty much a boys view on Sailor Moon. Although you are correct, it was a girly show and an anime, so his rule is already broken. I think he won't do it because of the huge, inevitable backlash.
I know I am coming in way late for this, and I do appreciate your list. I would add 3, one of which might not be known well: Barney Miller - best instrumental intro Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse - The genesis to 60s Batman (Bob Kane created it years before the campy series), and my number one, Spider-Man the 1968 version. A tune that is as infectious as any flu. I am enjoying your entire library and appreciate all the work put into it. Kudos.
Reasons why the TV intros are almost non-existent these days is mostly because of the stupidass US commercialism, especially when it comes to Cartoon shows. If the intro is longer than 20 secs, they'll cut it down or just make it non existent, just so they can show more commercials. The orignal Sonic Boom is 45 seconds long, but n US they just cut it down to 15 seconds. Even Amazing World of Gumball is made non existent because it's 24 seconds long. Steven Universe is one of few shows that's able to do it, since it's more or less able to fill up all that you need to know about the show in 20 seconds.
+Turmoil Yeah. You can actually even see the progression with shows like the Simpsons. The last two seasons have had more episodes without the opening titles than the first 25 combined. Nonexistent opening titles do have their place, but only when done effectively like Lost. So it basically has deteriorated to a point where the most memorable openings nowadays are from premium cable shows. Game of Thrones would be quite a bit more confusing without its opening titles reminding you where everyone is.
Well actually that may not be the reason. In the first or second episode of most shows the intro age fully, after that is only plays part way. However since the shortened version is used the rest of the time it just seems like it was always shortened. Also would you really want to sit through the same 45-60sec intro every time.
Speaking of which, the Simpsons used to have around 22-23 episodes per season and the season premiere aired when summer was over. Now there's maybe 12 episodes a season and the Halloween special is also considered the season premiere.
I was honestly expecting Batman The Animated Series to be #1
Same
yes u.u
I was expecting The Fresh Prince of Bel Air to be No. 0
me too! the original Batman animated series intro was great!
Or the batman. Anyone remember that show?

The original Teen Titans's intro always got me hyped when I was younger.
Gamer YTP when i was a kid dont memorize the lyrics so i wuz like: nananananana TEEN TITANS!
Swear half of the episodes had the Japanese intro.
Same I loved watching that intro
Same except it was Ben 10 for me
Which one dubbed or subbed?

I know it's late for this, but Gargoyles, dude. GARGOYLES!
They reused clips from the show. It's why he didn't use it.
@@PairOfKoopas still worth an Honorable Mention tbh, that music and David Keith's voice narrating it, it was epic the second it began.

Yeah especially fma
Well he's not wrong!
There is one intro though, one intro that stands supreme, one intro which makes the anime intros look like nothing, and that is...
Bill Nye The Science Guy
The best intro of all time is Cowboy Bebop! Best song is "I am" from "Inu Yasha".
Here's a few great introductions from British TV shows: Horrible Histories, The It Crowd, Postman Pat, Blackadder Goes Forth, Sherlock, Jeeves and Wooster, Doctor Who, The Inbetweeners, Humans, Call the Midwife, The Great British Bake Off.
And the crowning jewel of them all: Peppa Pig.
It would have been friggin' hilarious if he just said "Fuck it" and made DuckTales the #1 spot in this countdown as well.
That could happen with the 2017 DuckTales and he could get away with it then.
Ducktales! Woo-Hoo!
Should've been the intro to Doug to be even funnier
"Hell, even Disney wouldn't go that far!"
Excuse me, Galavant would like to interject.
While it may not be the most intense or creative intro, one of my favorites was always the intro to M.A.S.H. The way that they began the first episode with an extended cut and how each season had a different mix of the theme was always great.

Rigel Seybert absolutely
Can we all agree that the Jack of All Trades opening is the best thing in the world?
It truly is, even after all these years.
I can no longer look at Wolverine without hearing Arin Hanson saying "bub" every two seconds.
+Kemonokami Ditto. Well, that, and "Tell Cyclops I made him a convertible." :D

Bryant Langmuir Yeah, no. Switch 1 & 2. Then you have the right order.
Remember Code Lyoko? That show's theme song was kick ass.
+Leopold Litchenstein (SpongeBobfan1.5) Oh yeah, it was a great show. X3

Thanks for including Jack of All Trades. It should have won the Emmy.
'only american intros'
britain: TRIGGERED
King Yorkshire Doctor Who, Sherlock, should have been put in as at this point almost every single American knows about them
SilentSubscriber Sherlock has an intto?
yea, it has no words, but its quite catchy
Sherlock? Bah, give me Count Duckula's intro.
Doctor Who would be number 1 if only he included British shows.
The opening to season one of true detective always gave me chills
Jack of all Trades looks amazing. I have to see it.
This brought back so many memories and emotions from my childhood days living in America.. Your videos are so satisfying and insightful. Can’t wait for more of your videos this year. Hope you have an amazing year 🎉
I think that Batman the Animated Series' intro should've been on this list. Who else here agrees with me?
I do too, but then again, wouldn't three Danny Elfman songs be a bit much?
I was so disappointed the animated Batman series wasn't on the list
Noah Carson Especially since Batman the Animated Series IS The Nostalgia Critic's favorite show as a child. As well as the intro is a visual marvel to watch. There's no singer, no "Staring *insert voice actor, as *insert character, hell there's no title. There's just the amazing opening, amazing music and the last scene of Batman posing while a lightning bolt appears, revealing Batman is, you guessed it, amazing.
Omnicidal Clown I love that show growing up and the theme song was epic just Batman being Batman you didn't need anything else
Noah Carson How true.
I screamed "YAS" when he said the Beetlejuice cartoon was the number 1 intro. :3
SAME!
I WAS LITERALLY SAYING TO MYSELF "Beetlejuice has to be here somewhere" and imagine how happy I was when it was #1! It was one of my favourite shows as a kid and I watched the movie for the first time not too long ago.
the johnny quest intro is basically his intro now, his new intro
Someone noticed!
Along with Nastalgiaween
You're only doing American shows???? How can you do that when British shows like The Secret Show, The Demon Headmaster and Doctor Who had such freaking amazing intros??? Also it staggers me that you missed off Teen Titans!
Dan King the doctor who intro always is my fav
Which version? I've always been tied between Tom Baker's 1974 intro and the 2006 intro.
the current ones, like season 5 6 7 and 8
I was never much of a fan of the unnecessary clouds added in s5, but I will agree that they've all been pretty epic.
Also UK had a great opening to the show ''TUGS''.
This may be a recent one but I think the opening to The Crown is one of the greatest openings in its simplicity.
am i the only one that thinks doug should do a old vs new thunder cats?
so you want it
ok
I wanna see that
too bad
Shulk Swag No!!! You're not alone, my friend.
I realise how late this comment is, but the Johnny Quest intro is a topographical map. Those lines show contours of the terrain.
Aaaahhhh. I thought it was fingerprints, but I've never seen that version so...
Where's Transformers? Where's Power Rangers?
Where's Darkwing Duck?
Where's Ducktales?
Where's Batman the Animated Series?
Where's G.I. Joe?
Where's Family Guy?
Where's 70s Spiderman?
Where's American Dad?
Where am I?
In hell.
i agree. what about that '94 Spider-Man?
he has stated that he was not a fan of the show
I agree with you. There should be a part two of this... But Doug got the Danny Elfman classics out of the way. Also, nice joke.
Isaac Haddox k
I was happy enough to see Tales from the Crypt on the list, but I seriously was NOT expecting the Beetlejuice cartoon to be #1! I squealed like an idiot when it came on! 😄
Since everyone seemed to talk about cartoon intros, how about the Mission Impossible TV show intro? With the lit fuse burning across the screen, and the faces of the stars being cut into the letters of the title? Or the original Star Trek Intro with the shots of the Enterprise traveling through space. Sure, it's a narration voice over, but it's one of the most famous voice overs in a television show.
It'd be interesting to see NC's take on Fullmetal Alchemist ^-^
WHAT IF HE DID COWBOY BEBOP?!
GreenSoap He usually only does nostalgic stuff, so i doubt it.
GreenSoap I doubt he have "nostalgia" feeling for it. Bit too new for him. So a review at best.
I honestly think that the Gravity Falls intro should've been at least an honorable mention. It really captures the feel of mystery and discovery.
DexterousPants6 This video predates Gravity Falls, I believe.
+Laura Klotz the first ep was in 2012 so no
(I googled it hope its not wrong)
You're right - I thought this video was older than that. But as someone else said, he may have considered it too recent to be included. After all, he's the Nostalgia Critic. :)
DexterousPants6 I think this review was done before Gravity Falls came out.
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Freakazoid
Batman The Animated Series
hurricanebtvs omg u watch AUAOTD?
All the time
same here, well not all the time but occasionally, whats your fav episode?
Jekyll /Hyde Such a hard one to answer, but it's probably Jake and the Leprechaun. You?
hurricanebtvs The Silver Sight one
that beetlejuice caught me off-guard but it's my favourite opening, so
Batman: TAS, Ducktales, and Spider-Man (90s) all had great intros as well. I really thought Batman and Ducktales were gonna make your list, and thought one of them was gonna be number 1, until you unveiled it. I forgot all about Beetlejuice. I remember Bucky O’Hare as well. Great opening song, really captured the spirit of how cartoon intros used to be.
BILL BILL BILL BILL, BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY!
Inerca is a property of matter
Bill Nye the 'TV ACTOR PRETENDING TO BE' the Science Guy.
I think of HuniePop when I hear that
_Science rules_
2:54 "Jack of All Trades"? Hmm. Never heard of it either.
Oh, by around the 3:14 mark: I MUST WATCH THIS!!!!
I mean, the fact that it is Bruce Campbell makes it a must see. And Verne Troyer (RIP) as Napoleon is hilarious..
Me and my dad just started watching this show
It's a really good show, I recommend!
My favorite TV theme when I was a kid was Justice League Unlimited. It always pumped me up every time I heard it & made me feel like I could be a superhero too.
I missed the Men in Black animated series intro, thanks to the atmosphere of pure alien mystery it creates
When Gabby Duran And The Unsittables premiered on Disney Channel in October 2019, I was a huge fan of Kylie Cantrall's. I knew all the words to
all the songs she sung.
I even kept hearing that season two is coming up next
year on Disney Channel. And I hope the cast of the show will review recaps from the show really soon.
When The Ghost & Molly McGee premiered on Disney Channel, I was a huge fan of it. I loved that kick ass intro because it had Molly, Scratch, Darryl, Sharon and Peter hugging each other. The best part about it is Molly McGee getting so excited because she
made friends with a ghost named Scratch.
I would've added Batman and Metalocalypse.
***** Not even a fan of Metal and I can agree that Metalocalypse's opening is BADASS.
***** I friggin' love it.
***** metalocalypse is equal parts brutal and comedy. like the lines :toki wartooth not a bumblebee! or pickles thr drummer doodly doodle doo! it's hard not to love it.
HB791 DOODILY DING DONG TICK TOCK! I love that it's both a parody and a celebration of Metal culture.
HB791 I like how Metalocalypse shows its views on society and pokes fun at metal and the song industry in general.
Now the super-long intro for Pee Wee makes sense. Every 30 second theme song has a full length version, and since they were able to get Cyndi Lauper, they didn't want to waste her.
I'm very disturbed by the lack of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".
Tristan Cannon Maybe he simply didn't watch it.
Tristan Cannon While the show itself is really cool, the opening is a bit "meh" - clips from the show, howling and such, not very exciting...
Makverus YOU LIE!!!!!!!!!!!! *screamed in Zim's voice while flailing arms*
Tristan Cannon I'm pretty sure I don't... What's so good about it?
Tristan Cannon he said intros with clips doesn't count, I'm a fan of the seires but the intro was just like Duck Tales
I'd like to see the Nostalgia Critic review Godzilla: The Series.
There's a series .-.
Douglas Rodriguez For the 98 version.
The show is better than the movie itself
Shihab Shabbir At least Zilla fought other monsters and had atomic breath
no batman intro? that was the stuff.... dark, foreboding, art deco. as a kid it felt SO adult when you watched it. Hell, even my dad watched it quietly when I had it on.
I just recently found your channel from watching the angry nerd. Have to say you grew on me and you definitely bring the funny. Great channel!
Calling it right now. #1 is Batman TAS.
WHAT!?
Hahahahaha,kinda close...

Nah bro
Bruh that shit fucking slaps
And by slaps I mean if I ever hear someone singing it I’ll slap them
I find your lack of Code Lyoko disturbing.
HyruleJose I love that opening song so much X'3
Sadly, tho, Code Lyoko is a French cartoon and Doug only said American shows for this list~
***** I thought that he just said no Japanese shows but apparently he did specify only American shows which is sad since this great opening got snubbed.
Mint45 Code Lyoko was french? Huh.
Jackson DeStefano yeup lol
I had no idea either until I looked it up. In fact, there is a new season of the show, but it's done in live action with only the parts in lyoko being animated (still cgi) and it is completely in french. You might be able to find a subtitled version somewhere X3
Mint45 Actually the 5th episode was dubbed in English. But the lip syncing sucks and honestly live action was a bad choice.
i would have to nominate code lyoko. it's mainly clips from the show but with the blend of 2d and 3d shots trough the xana eye and of course that kick at theme song really make it something else.
swatkats intro was pretty amazing too: no lyrics, just rock and everything you needed to know about the show
The season 1 intro was sorta good, but the season 2 intro was amazing. I'd love to see the NC review SWAT Kats some day.
Spectacular Spiderman anyone?!
Hell yeah
Rip that show
I love its theme song
YES!
Best intro ever! T--T R.I.P
Still can't get my head around no A-Team on this list!
Totally agree!!! What about The greatest American hero or Voltron?
Dude, I miss Batman Animated Series intro, Spiderman Intro (1994) and Biker Mice from Mars Intro, Nascar racers intro. The Real Ghostbusters Intro, Pirates Of Dark Water Intro and Defenders of the Earth Intro.
i bet now people are gonna want doug doing a top 11 anime openings
HOLY COW FRESH PRINCE YESSS
I love that show and especially its intro!
If only
***** get the fuck off my comment section now
***** never comment here again
***** goodbye
I would've thought that he would've put the Batman: The Animated Series intro as number one? Watch his Top 11 Batman episodes for why...
I'm surprised he didn't put any of the recent shows he's blogged about like Daredevil Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Avatar
ReaderGamerSinger I'm not surprised, the only shows which stand out where the intro is concerned in your list are Gravity Falls and Daredevil. the others are kind of generic.
RomrotMechanikos I thought the Steven Universe opening is pretty good, plus it's one of the few openings to have the main cast sing the opening
Well he is the Nostalgia Critic. Wouldn't make much sense if he included things from the past few years.
Athavan Rajasingham the Steven Universe opening is forgettable.
RomrotMechanikos Avatar is probably the most memorable of them all.
11:18: What's that boy? We're in control?
Hey, look! I can see my voice!!! Hehehehe...
IM TOTALLY GONNA WATCH JACK OF ALL TRADES! HOLY SHIT BRUCE CAMPBELL 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
The one that never fails to hype me up is the opening to advengers: earths mightiest heros
Where's Nostalgia Critic intro?
No Batman TAS? Animaniacs? Freakazoid? The Amazing Spdier-man? Teen Titans, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Futurama, the Simpsons, Jessica Jones, Daredevil. All of them better than Jack of All Trades or Johnny Quest or Pee-Wee's!
Sergio Garcia
1. He thinks they are better.
2. He doesn't want to be predictable.
3. It's just a opinion!
Briggs Michaels Chill 😂
There's so much to pick from, your easily makes another Top 10 list.
Well if he ever makes a sequel to this here's his list
and duck tales
Some show openings that I would have included would have to be:
Cybersix
Reboot
Shadow Raiders
Batman Beyond
The Muppets Show
Megas XLR
Samurai Jack
Dexter's Laboratory
The Magic School Bus
Bill Nye the Science Guy
Disney's Recess
Men In Black (the Tv series)
Godzilla (the tv series from the 90s)
any others?
Athavan Rajasingham Also the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited openings
Athavan Rajasingham I know it's British, but I would also add the original intro of the Thunderbirds series. It's just so epic!
Athavan Rajasingham Duck Dodgers?
I still laugh at the part when the bird in the 'Jack Of All Trades' introduction says "Damn right!..." at 4:17.
Here am I am from 2018 realizing that I was right that he did the Beetlejuice intro for nostalgiaween. IM SO HAPPY.
My favorite TV Show intro would have to be The Spectacular Spider-Man.
me:sees thumb nail
also me : is that the fresh prince
*clicks video*
The Johnny Quest thing was a topographic map for those of you wondering. I also see what and why you based the Nostalgiaween opening on
It may not be American but the best theme and intro in my opinion is doctor who
All Things Doctor Who! He said only American shows for a reason.
For which Doctor though?
Definitely
Same with big and small
Where is The "Where is Carmen Sandiego?"
Maybe the next top 11 should be about anime intros.
Sailor moon would def be on that list
Scott Sandler I did not watch the other ones, but the Sailor Moon one was pretty much a boys view on Sailor Moon.
Although you are correct, it was a girly show and an anime, so his rule is already broken.
I think he won't do it because of the huge, inevitable backlash.
I don't think he's talked a lot about anime. Just a review or three.
Nice to finally see where you got the inspiration for your new intro.
1:25 The moment you realize this was what the new intro was based on.
How the Simpson's intro isn't on the list, is beyond me
Jonny Chung because it's to well know
Jonny Chung american dad is better
jonny boi no it's not and never will be lol
Matthew Ford
i meant the song . it's more catchy / i do like it more then simpsons tho but simpsons is 100 years older to so thats not so weird
It's probably too obvious.
Number 11 looks familiar, like a recent video on this channel.
I know I am coming in way late for this, and I do appreciate your list. I would add 3, one of which might not be known well:
Barney Miller - best instrumental intro
Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse - The genesis to 60s Batman (Bob Kane created it years before the campy series), and my number one, Spider-Man the 1968 version. A tune that is as infectious as any flu.
I am enjoying your entire library and appreciate all the work put into it. Kudos.
its a fingerprint i think or a map on the jhonny quest intro
What about Knight Rider?
That show had an awesome intro! :/
Hey anyone, does number 11 look familiar to you?
*Hmmmm...*
Heheh yeah, the latest NC intro is inspired by it ;)
@@Imanoth I was going to say Spinal Tap.
Good Lord this list is sublime! Not to mention it reminded me that Danny Elfman did so much more than compose the theme song to The Simpsons.
But-but... but... Bill Nye... is a science guy... a-and inertia.... it-it is a property of matter...
90's show. He was in high school by then.
The nostalgia critic into is inspired by the Johnny quest intro! It just hit me!
+MisterSmiley91 I actually vividly remember the theme from AT, but that may have been the contrasting nature of it.
Well actually that may not be the reason. In the first or second episode of most shows the intro age fully, after that is only plays part way. However since the shortened version is used the rest of the time it just seems like it was always shortened. Also would you really want to sit through the same 45-60sec intro every time.
Zach Antes Not if I am binging, unless they have different visual gags each time like The Simpsons, Futurama, or.locations like Game of Thrones.
Speaking of which, the Simpsons used to have around 22-23 episodes per season and the season premiere aired when summer was over. Now there's maybe 12 episodes a season and the Halloween special is also considered the season premiere.
I never *really* watched The 90s Jonny Quest, but I caught it on TV a couple of times and that intro has stuck with me for years.
The Johnny Quest one is a topographical map.
