- Fish (me!) does a FIFO swing on the mines in the North West of Western Australia (fly in fly out for those not familiar with the Aussie institution of flying in to remote areas to work at mining sites)
It was a crazy whirlwind, and not much editing has been done on other projects but I'm back now and it certainly was an adventure! Was it a fun time? Mostly. Some hard work in tough conditions but amazing scenery and moments in time. It qualifies as an Adventurefuntimes experience but this is a one off episode, not to be repeated...
Best footage of fifo life I’ve seen so far. Thanks for sharing!
When the place has good food, makes all the difference. I went to a very remote place in Indonesia (not really FIFO) once, they had their own pharmacy fully stocked with a pharmacist for virtually any ailment, pretty wild and served fresh Sumatran food. Best food was in Karratha at one place, massive kitchens / cafeteria, top-notch, and a full bar, the accomodation was just your regular donga scenario, went there with Rio.
Oh jesus in karratha!!! Maybe you been lucky try port hedland
Good food, the key to all happiness 😁
Good old brockman love it here
Did it for 5 years and found more snakes in the office and machines than in the grass
Hahaha true that.
Underrated comment right there. Always some scandal happening involving a manager and an admin girl...names change, story remains the same...or it's a supervisor and some guy's wife.
Don’t you mean back stabbers
All Aussies should have a crack at this at least once if they get the chance 👍
Definitely! Would be even better and more sustainable if they offered even time rosters.
Passed out on Buggy you mean voc’d
Nah,done 9 years of it,its shit 90% of the time even with a good crew around you.
I love it back in 2015 I'm planning on going back this year miss the people I use to work with fun day working having a good laugh.😊
@@johnconnor7131 yea but its paying right? 12 hour days that like 3 or 4 hours overtime. It adds up if your on $60 right? Im looking at doing OTR tyre fittting for mining vehicles.
a comfortable working environment makes the workers more enthusiastic to work..i really like to see it one day i want to feel able to work there
Nahh suggest you to avoid it
The pool looks amazing!
Perfect temperature too!
yar the dust, flies and isolation
loved this!
Thank you!
All i did was scroll for the thumbnail 6:26

Thank you! Cheers!
This looks like brockman 2 / nummaldi ? I worked at B 4 for a few years. Loved the Pilbara.
Jerriwa camp. The Pilbara really gets into your veins hey (and car, and clothes and everything else)
Looks like GBO and B2 camp
i was fortunate and got to do FIFO on the tool for 3 years, respect to all the boys and girls who are their away from family and grinding everyday.(and middle finger to those holiday makers who don't know what they are doing there and putting us in risks and to those labour hires who hire them and fly them out)
Hey there. What is the best entry level job in the mines where you don't need any experience, except I'm in warehouse and logistics so there would be opportunities there? However is there much scope there for high pay in that area?
Peggy
High pay for salary but high pay for rent 😂😂😂
I clean for a retirement place love to do that love nz
I miss the open vistas of WA
Fifo just like prison
FIFO is only like prison if you have a weak and mailable mind.
No seafarer are in prison lifestyle.. You are still free on land
the city is a prison.millions paying for their glorified prison.
The good old Fokker 100 to the Pilbara
where about this site is at?
Brockman 4.
The music, can you please tell me who it is? all of it. regards Michael
Hey Michael, all the music is from Epidemic Sound a subscription service for creators. I'm not sure why I haven't put the exact details in the description but they are available through there. Cheers, Fish.
What will be the best company to work for in fifo work?
No one 😂
@@KoDeMondo Correct.
Thank you' nice vid
Did it for ten years, to many rules and power trippin ego maniacs with 5 minutes experience wrecked it. Was a good number once. Argyle was orsom.
cool video, good on ya! (not meant to sound sarcastic lol)
Try doing a exploration gig
Living in a caravan
Looks just like a minimum security prison!
after 20 years, it feels like it too :(
Couldnt of said it better myself, i cant say from personal experience but im told Jail food is much better haha...+10 years of working away in the mines and i can say with out a doubt in my mind that it was an experience and a half, some bloody good mates made but NEVER will i do it again, lifes far to short to be away from mates n fam for that long-they were meant to be the best years of my life
Hi if Joine this job do I ned driving licence?
Do yah have to be jabbed to go and work fifo?
Yep
No u dont
Of course..
stuff working i just stay on benefit
It’s good if you get the right work mates , but being stuck on a swing with Assholes for 2 weeks is no fun at all 😝
😂😂😂
How good is fly out dayyyy
Maybe you should look for another fifo job sodexo is getting a bad name
Sodexo sux.cleaners are thieves and the slop they serve is shit
Be better off flipping burgers at McDonald's. Be better money and better management.
What ever you do. Don't take your phone out while on the tarmak in a FIFO situation.
The for what reason ?
@@Mick_4591 You are comprising your job.
FIFO people really don't understand your hourly rate is super low. You're literally working 24 hours Not 12 hours. Any time you arent free from work related stuff you're actually still working.
Then think about people who earn even half of your salary, but because you earn double for them life is way too expensive...
Bit of a generalisation there mate. I'm not on Salary & my hourly rate is nearly double of my last job. Been working in QLD mines for 8 months & I've had enough though. Work culture here is so backwards. Everyone out for themselves & they will throw the contractors under a bus to save themselves in the blink of an eye. I struggle to sleep out here & miss my own bed so much. You get more days off but my friends & family are at work most the time & I'm that drained from the swing I don't do much really. This is only my experience, alot of people do love it. I just think in the end money isn't everything.
Yearly wage..and it's better than most with free food...when I was in my 20's I would of worked for the food alone.. because I didn't have to pay for it
@emp731 yeah the money you save on food, electricity bill at home becomes alot lower, fuel driving to & from work. It all adds up as alot of extra savings too.
Mining, dividing families & communities since the 1900s 👌🏽
Hi halo
The mines have caused more heartache than any amount of material wealth can compensate for. Grew up near coal mines, everyone is a miner in my family. You all should feel shame and embarrassment for giving your time and energy to the corrupt crappy companies that you get money from.
I'm sorry to hear that. It's tempting to give it all away and live in a van, but most of us have fully bought in to the 'Dream' I guess. Take care of yourself ❤️
Have. Fun. Staying. Poor. It's no different than working for ANY company, they do not care about you. Have a mercenary attitude and use them for your own benefit of improving things for yourself. Outside of mining the worst place to work is any place that says they're family and when you join, you become family..again..they don't give a shit about you. So it's the lessor of two evils, go FIFO for a bit to earn dollars, or work longer for someone else in the city.
@@patrickspaceman305 Yes patrick have fun with it 👌🏽
