It was our first road trip together and we’ve got thousands of km’s under our belt since then but haven’t managed to drive across to WA again (multiple flights though). Gday Mick, We are looking forward to free camping our way around Australia next year! Just wanted to ask if you modified the rear suspension in the Colorado? The Ute and van look like they sit very well. Cheers Jeff Rye, Victoria
Perhaps more information may be of some help to you Jeff. I removed the spring sets and took them into a suspension repair shop and ask for the spring height be reset and an additional leaf be fitted for heavy duty towing. It has made a huge difference to the back of the Colorado and the way it rides.
@@jeffgibson7528 the cost for the springs to be upgraded was $475.00 as I supplied the labour to remove and refit the springs. It did raise the ride height noticeably. From the ground to the bottom leading edge of the rear bumper bar the height is 51cm.
Hi there, have just discovered your RUclips channel. Love the way you present. Just a curiosity, you did not mention where you filled up with water, and also any dump points. As you free camped a great deal I was wondering how you addressed these issues. Cheers Des
We filled up with water at Ceduna and then Noresman before heading to Perth. The reverse order was done on our way back. It is a matter of conserving the water to suite the carrying capacity at the time. There was limited to no water available to refill on the Nullarbor.
Mick, hello, nice trip really nice sunsets , say, I’m trying to see what brand Ute, you are hauling the caravan with, obviously a diesel, BTW what are you paying for fuel these days , it’s herrendous here in USA, AS MUCH AS US$ 7..00/gallon but whatever petrol, costs LESS, STAY WELL HAPPY TRAILS. Hi mick, Another great video. We have just got home after doing the round trip from NSW looking at the wild flowers.. A comment, I noticed that nearly all of the transport use the cab over prime movers. Is this coincidence or a perticular reasoon, maybe due to the mainly flat road? As soon as we crossed back into NSW it appeared that the long nose took over on all routes. also noted was NSW has the worst roads! SA & WA were great all over. Its a pity that we have the most population and can't seem t have a decent road system.
Thanks Ross, sorry but I cant really answer your question regarding cab overs. I think most states have their own fair share of road issues. I am assuming that you did the W.A. wildflowers, we did them back in the early 2,000's, was very pretty to see.
Hi Marck, I just double on your channel I love it. Just quick question do you still have the original fuel tank on your rig or have you got a sub tank on it? Thank you regards Nick
A lot of people say that there is nothing to see going over the Nullarbor, we think it is one of the best trips to do. We have done it several times now.
@@justcruisinwithmicksally837 I've been across a few times but many years ago. Almost retired widowed and ready for a motor home and travels! Def want to check out Esperance next time. Don't think I went there
Very nice clip just bit concern about the dangers of free camping compared with secured proper caravan parks . Love to travel around in a caravan have done a lot of camping in secured parks and stayed in motels and hotels .Looking to purchase a van and travel with my Mrs around . Also is it difficult to clean or dump the toilet waste .
Everyone will have their own ideas about the dangers of free camping compared to Caravan Park security. We have never seen a safety incident while free camping but we have had the people next to us in a Caravan Park robbed during the night. We go with our gut feeling when we free camp, if it doesn't feel right when you pull up, then don't stop there, move on. Toilets on the modern day caravan are very easy to clean and empty. Sometimes the mess left at the dump area by others isn't very nice although this is a rare.
If you get the chance and head that way again if you haven't done them already, some good spots in SA are - Mt Wudinna (little Uluru) 2nd largest monolith in Australia; Polda Rock Recreation Reserve, Murphy's Haystacks, Gawler Rangers - Organ Pipes and Kolay Mirica Falls.
Except for the day in Darwin where we are waiting on trailers, one of us is working all of the time for the 24 hours of each day. This excluded loading and unloading times between Adelaide and Darwin. The trip is basically non stop.
On our return to Adelaide we used the Honda more than we normally would have as I had a medical issue and required heating to reduce the pain I was in. We do have a gas heater fitted but there was an electrical issue with it on this trip. We would normally not use a generator at all, in fact we haven't used it since that trip.
Better than filling up at the BP, there is a self serve tank just after passing the airport on the way into Ceduna from the east, much cheaper, but no roadhouse facilities. Swipe card required. Fuel used to be cheaper at the Eucla Motel than at Border Village, but sure if that is still the case.
In the last 10 months I’ve lost in order,, Mum 64, Pop 84, Dad 65, sister 50. And lost home ownership plus most possessions. Your video is like a dream I need to feel for myself. @@1mmickkwow I'm dealing with a boozo🤦if you got offended I meant in the outback and some country areas it would be free. But practically everywhere along the coastlines of Australia you're paying. Gone are the days you could just pull up to the side of a highway and sleep in the car for the night let alone camp somewhere
@@truthseeker7322 You can still do that, for tens of thousands of Ks. Problem is most ppl wont drive off a road thats not on ggl maps, or actually walk and camp. I’m not afraid to stand up and be counted with my name to boot; unlike the majority of hidden people. Cheers. 👍🏻🙏🏽😷🦘
My problem is I don't want to be anywhere near other people. I want to be completely alone, not being able to see or hear anyone. Can you just park off road wherever you feel like it in an isolated spot, that isn't a designated camping spot where others are also going to visit?
Heading across the Nullarbor is no longer as isolated as it once was many years ago with a lot of travelers now doing it. It would be difficult to find places to camp where others would not be around if using dedicated rest areas. There is no reason why you can't camp anywhere heading across should you see a location that you would like to stop at. In saying that, a lot of people feel safe in numbers so if they see another camper already set up for the night then they may want to camp near you just to feel safe.
Great video thanks for making it - there is something you could do to make it a little more enjoyable if you’d like my opinion, but still good all the same 👌

There is 560 watts on the van plus another 150 watts on our tow vehicle that we can add to it on shade covered days if needed.
@@justcruisinwithmicksally837 Thanks for the reply. You would rarely run out of power.
Gday Mick,
We are looking forward to free camping our way around Australia next year!
Just wanted to ask if you modified the rear suspension in the Colorado?
The Ute and van look like they sit very well.
Cheers
Jeff
Rye, Victoria
I have had the rear spring packs upgraded in the Colorado. Enjoy your trip around Australia.
Perhaps more information may be of some help to you Jeff. I removed the spring sets and took them into a suspension repair shop and ask for the spring height be reset and an additional leaf be fitted for heavy duty towing. It has made a huge difference to the back of the Colorado and the way it rides.
@@justcruisinwithmicksally837 thank you mick. Can I please ask what this cost and does it alter the ride without the van on?
Thank you
Jeff
@@jeffgibson7528 the cost for the springs to be upgraded was $475.00 as I supplied the labour to remove and refit the springs. It did raise the ride height noticeably. From the ground to the bottom leading edge of the rear bumper bar the height is 51cm.
Loved your video. Thanks👍
Glad you enjoyed the video, hope it gives you some ideas.
CHERIO 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸
We have a Holden Colorado and diesel at the moment is anywhere above $2:00 per litre. he cost of all fuels and groceries here in Australia has escalated out of control over the last 6 months.
@@justcruisinwithmicksally837 thanks for your reply, I did NOT KNOW ,HOLDEN WAS STILL AROUND,your vehicle looked US, but the size threw me off, WE lived in JAMAICA BWI, so drive on the LEFT ALSO , FYI I knew a man whom lost hisbLEFT arm, so had a car SPECIALLY MADE IN AUSTRALIA for him in theb1940s it was a VAUXHALL VELOX, everything set up on the RIGHTBSIDE OF THE CAR FOR HIM , then an UNCLE had a car that LOOKED DIFFERENT, it was an AUSTRALIAN FORD, , THE FORD DEALERSHIP in KINGSTON, is the WORLDS OLDEST FORD DEALERSHIP
as a result everyone on BOTH sides of our families drove NOTHING BUT FORDS , even in USA most of my cars were FORDS.,current one is a 2013 FORD TAURUS. 3.5 LITRE V6 6SPEED

@@flybyairplane3528 an interesting piece of history there, cheers.
Freecamping on the Nullarbor goes to the next level with a campfire at night.
Just don't forget to bring your firewood with you.
You are correct, a night time fire is part of the experience.
Fire wood is confiscated at the border on entering WA.
@@Ramjet257 Interesting comment John, having never carried firewood to the border I wasn't aware of that.
Nice trip Mick....what time of the year would be best for travelling over to Perth?
It would depend on the individuals taste Max. September would have the nicest weather but we prefer the winter months.
Thanks mate, just catching up :)
Cheers, you are welcome 👍
Nice set up you got , just wondering what's your tow ball weight , great show
Last check was 350Kg.
Brilliant. Thank you.

Great episode Mick and Sally.🍷🍷
I hope you are well after seeing the doctor.
I was just wondering how the car went on fuel on the trip.
Safe travels.🍷🍷🍺🍺😃

We have had the original tank replaced with a long range tank from ARB.
On my bucket list. Ty
@@justcruisinwithmicksally837 thanks a lot for the info cheers.
@@vishwanadannaidu4420 You are welcome.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Seen most of them Sharon, but we will be back there one day hopefully.
We carried small container of grey water to wash down the toilet cassette when none available.
Good idea, several options to get around it.👍
Just a quick question how long did you drive for each day
Except for the day in Darwin where we are waiting on trailers, one of us is working all of the time for the 24 hours of each day. This excluded loading and unloading times between Adelaide and Darwin. The trip is basically non stop.
Did you use the Honda very much ?
We have always found fuel to be cheaper at Eucla than Border Village.
What a trip..
It is a great part of our country that some do not enjoy, for us it is perfect.
I’m walking it. 45yrs old.
Good luck with the walk.
In the last 10 months I’ve lost in order,, Mum 64, Pop 84, Dad 65, sister 50. And lost home ownership plus most possessions.
Your video is like a dream I need to feel for myself.
I can see myself not coming back if someone needs a boilermaker along the way.
Had to say this, just have to tell someone. Thanks . Take care .
@@ghostofmyself4734 sounds like you are doing something that you need to do for yourself, look after yourself along the way. When you see the location that is right for you, act on it and roll with the punches.
What is your tow vehicle, a Ford Ranger
At that time it was a Holden Colorado
Great video with a lot of really good information! What time of the year did you do this trip Mick? Regards Gary/Perth
It was done during July, the best time in my books.
Being from Canada do you have a map of you trip?
If you bring up Google Maps & put in Australia and put in Adelaide to Darwin you will get the trip on the map that way.
Mick, do you have a long range tank
Yes we have a 145 litre long range tank fitted.
Thank you, mick, I believe that i should fite one to my car as we are on the road full time now, plus the bride an myself do enjoy your videos, thank you again, and stay safe digger.

99.9999999999% of Australia is "free camping" you need to get out more often.

@@truthseeker7322 Bhahahahahaha how exaggerated.
Yes it is one of my early productions, hopefully the later videos are better. Glad you liked it and thanks for your honest comment.
Really enjoyed it, very informative but the music was way too loud compared to your voice...........
Glad you enjoyed it.
The music was fine to the nay sayers!! If they don't like it they can mute it!!
The police will close the highway, before the RFDS plane arrives so it will not land on your head.
That is correct.
''Free Camping??'' Never heard of a rig dragging a 2 ton van called free camping B4?
Free camping is a flat tray ute and a swag sucking down frosties and a pie somewhere lol
Always a first for everything 🤔🤔
Thanks for the vid but I have to say it was a bit like being on the phone while on hold with the awful music and every so often you would get a voice then put on hold again. Cheers 👍🏻🙏🏽😷🦘

Loved the music! Can tell a lot of thought went into the selections.
Free camping… lol… that’s cos no one wants to be on a road that is deserted for many many miles 😮
You will be surprised how busy the road can be, nothing like it once was.
Well worn path, not really adventurous
Always adventurous for the first timer, we could do it more often if only we had the time.
Great video thanks for making it - there is something you could do to make it a little more enjoyable if you’d like my opinion, but still good all the same 👌
Can you please pass on your opinion, I am interested.
