Love your vids bro. I'm working for crash champions as painter as well we just switched from 90 line to 100 line last week. I prefer the 90 line over 100 but both nice products. BUT I'm diehard ppg glasruit has not changed my mind sorry crash but in all honesty ppg rules lol
You definitely have to shoot the Glasurit 923-210 Ultimate clear. All of the resto guys (Goolsby Customs/Chip Foose/TheHotRodShop) shoot the 923-210 and/or the 923-460. The guy at TheHotRodShop mentioned to mix it in a 3/1 ratio instead of the 2/1 ratio for the Glasurit 923-210. He mentioned you can really get it to flow out like a Glamour clear and buffability is incredible. The 923-109 was specifically formulated for countries like New Zealand and Australia with ultra high UVs. So it will definitely be a top clear for a BASF Carizzma candy or a Florida/Arizona/Nevada car that will get a lot of sunlight. BTW, Bmw, Mercedes, and Porsche are still shooting Glasurit on their cars from the factory in Germany. You can also do a review on the BASF RM 5335 Glamour clear as well. Shoot it in a 3/1 ratio not the 4/1. That's another BASF clear that lays out absolutely spectacular.
There are so many clear's out there now its madness to pick one anymore you truly like when lots of them laydown nice and imo there is no best clear anymore with so many of them being so good now
We have a diamont system at my shop and got some of the 460 clear to try and I’ll say this it’s awesome stuff. I was using 5600 clear which sprays good but it will pinch back. 460 still looked wet 3 days after spraying it. Looking to try the 109 now after seeing this video
That job turned out really well, I like the look of that clear. Something I never thought about was how the cut and buff process took off a layer of resins that didn't exist below it. Makes sense, just learned something new. Thanks again Kandy Man!
I'm impressed that a large "corporate conglomerate" like Crash Champions is removing parts to spray and I'm guessing you're doing full uni-sides if a quarter panel repair/respray is involved ? I miss spraying Glasurit, sprayed 90/55 line for the last 5 years, currently using Sikkens, and it's just not the same level. Loved 923-365 clear and also sprayed a lot of 255 and 460. Great channel btw.
These finishes look wet and stay that way! These products have changed since I painted in the early 80s but a change definitely for the best! Thank you Candyman for taking the time to produce these great videos 😎👍
I just ordered 2 luma guns and light because of you and your results and must say I have been overwhelmed at how much better they spray than my sata guns...

109 is a nice clear. If you have to cut and buff do it in the first 72 hours or it will fight you with the flex. You'll dig the matte clear. Not as easy as Akzo but good results, no clouding.

Hi Kandy Man, all I can say is WOW!! that clearcoat is truly amazing and the finish is super flat but of course all that was achieved by the person behind the gun😁I do like those guns I had the Finer Core version which is the same gun and it sprays really nice👌 I remember someone told me that I should get certified but I don't think they meant for my skills as a painter🤔😜🤪😂John UK
Hey Candyman, love the video. I’m getting ready to spray 100 line on Monday and I got the Luma guns but I used the 1.3 for base and the 1. 5 for clear. Have you ever use 1.5 for clear or you only use 1.3 for base and clear.
Number one your work is outstanding one hell of a painter. You have had a chance to spray some of the best clears from PPG and glasirit! What would you suggest top clear for a custom and restoration shop where time is not an issue or baking available?
Hi KANDYMAN cracking video good question for you whats the best spray gun for base coat paint and clear coat paint iwatta 1.3 WS400 1.3 OBS BLUE CAP series 2 for base coat paint and the iwata series digital clear 1 3 HD or sagola extreme aqua 4600 1.3 and titania pro cap 😀
109 clear is the closest clear I have used to the old 923-54 clear they had way back in 90s that was the best clear ever besides PPG old 2001 period the Glasruit 923-54 was the best period
Its a nice clear can this clear do overall paint jobs .When can buff this clear . I would you to try the 923-255. Its old technology but its some good stuff. Keep the good work up
Amazing paint line for sure, do you like the Luma better for clear than the WS400 series 2. Never handled any luma products, don’t want to waste money. Thanks again.
That glasruit is trash..... sorry. I was being trained and we put a coat of paint on and took lunch and it was still wet after an hour when we got back. Having to put sealer on and wait 15 mins and using a shaker to mix the thick af paint is just terrible. I used ppg and never understood why so many shops are against waterborne paint until I used this. I personally feel ppg is far superior to this. The 1 and a half gimmick sells up front to a desk painter until youre putting on 4 or so layers to blend a pearl. Im glad you like it but I think it's terrible paint. I feel like I got jobs out in half the time with ppg with better coverage. Plus I love the deltron lineup. No offense at all about what you like but it's just my 2 cents that mean less than a cent lol.
@kandyman5315 just an opinion. We could smash deltron on and out the door in 10mins. Personally if someone said they use these other waterborne paints I would walk back out the door. When companies want more money but the products take way way more time It just doesn't make sense. Our dealership did the same thing with the switch and the product was more money and the process took an extra 30+ mins if not more. The owner got a kick back for putting the product in the shops but demanded faster production. It's not rocket science. You really don't think it takes alot longer to paint with? During my training with this stuff it took us over 5 hours to do 1 car and it wasn't a tri coat. It was still messed up in the end and blended out like garbage.
@theirishman088 I've always been a big fan of Ppg and I was skeptical when we switched to Glasurit. But, I can honestly say it is a better product and I do the same hours with both lines. Yes, there is a learning curve, but that is to be expected when learning a new paint line.
Trash… I guess that’s why Rolls, Ferrari, Porsche, many of the high end makes come with Glasurit from the factory. Glasurit is the best, RM and Sikkens will absolutely stand their ground as well up with Glasurit. I’m out of the collision industry, and now only in the restoration world. PPG is nice paint for sure, but not in the same league. I’ve sprayed both lines for years. We offered PPG as a cost effective alternative to Glasurit, but phased out. Never looked back. Now nothing but the Parrot.
@@zacrs4do they come with a Louis Vuitton purse also?? Wow, if a high end auto manufacturer uses it it must be good. Thank you for correcting me. The guy that was training me said that and we had horrible results and put more on than we would have with any other product. I never understood why almost every shop would say we don't want water in our shops period and after seeing this stuff I totally understand. We are all here to make money not make money up front. If the company switched their paint line tomorrow the next one would be the best.. company man is more like it. You can spray anything like glass but the cars coming into the shops are no where close to it and I don't think that's a Ferrari or a rolls in the thumbnail. I always hear nothing but the best things about Glasurit.
I sprayed Glasurit in the early 90's and have to say it is the best paint line I had ever used. Expensive, but nothing lays flatter.
My exact comment! High end finishes that were amazing even in the eighties when I painted!!
