Why didn't you cut the first two sets of cross boards at the angle of the uprights? The end result would have looked much better when adding the other sets of cross boards that would also have that same angle. Good video, very easy to follow. Maybe even cap off the top with 4 pieces of wood, one on each side.
LOVE THIS!! Simple question.. If one wanted, they could use this very project & do an Oil Derrick, right? Asking because I do want at least 2 of them. Showedy wife & said, How Cool Is This!!! Great work and THANK YOU very much👍🏻👍🏻
What would you improve? Where are the specific areas you find poor? It's all too easy to look at something and say "bad" without any level of thought put into it. Such criticisms, in any regard, are not worth the time to type and are useless other than your satisfaction of feeling you know better. So why do you think it's a hatchet job?
@stephenhumphrey1767 I was responding to @B0r0 who called it a hatchet job.... and being sarcastic because I don't think it's a hatchery job! It think it's wonderful and as I said, I'd love to have one like it in my garden. @B0r0 would have to explain his/her comment.
this is the best, most straightforward video out there for this. (a cut list would be extra great:) Thanks!
Best easy obelisk video I've seen. Love the furring strip idea for the cost savings.
This is the best video for an obelisk I have seen. Thank you for such an easy explanation.
Great project! I love how you made it reachable for most people. Black is a great colour, it stands out while still being neutral.
just made two of these and added a solar light to the top and secured with zip ties... Love it thanks
Simple and cost effective, nice work. It’s always awesome showing others how to build too even with basic tools. 👍🏼
Some of the small detail is good. Well explained. Thanks!
I made one of these maybe 8 years ago. Very good presentation of instructions.
Think you Ken
Agreed, simple and cost effective. 👍🏼
Wow what great instruction. The steps consider that I need shortcuts, friends, and succinct steps. Thx (seriously)
Simple and well said..easy to follow. thank you so much for and easy explanation. I'm going definitely going to make like this soon. thanks again
Very nice....I'll give it a try. Thanks for this.
This Is So Great!! Looks Like I Can Handle This One!! You Always Show Wonderful Instructional Videos!! I Love Them All!! Thank You!!!
Thank you Scott

nice job looks great , thanks for posting it, look forward to more things .
Pretty idea
Great tutorial !! It would be even better if you could edit your video and include a list of what lengths of cuts we need. Thanks !!
I just made a obelisk trellis, a little more complex that yours but I like your Q & D one as well
Thank you Dave
Could use something like Tung oil as well I used it on my picnic table that I made it worked great and kept the natural wood looks well
That is a great idea, thank you for the suggestion.
@@SpecificLove7 Your welcome
You da man! Really nice! Be cool, be safe! Beach, NC

Made it loved it just wondering how do i calculate to scale it down or make it narrower
Really nice, thank you!
Love this thank you
I think You could probably turn that into a small windmill for not much more. Not sure how to build the fan part of it though.

Thanks Anthony, you might be able to use it as an oil derrick just for sure. If you make one, let me know.
Did you miss the 2ft boards? I only saw you cut 4 15 1/2 and 4 6 1/2? Or did I miss something?
Great build. Where do you get that workbench top with the measurements and squares on it?
It is a self-healing mat you can find at many craft stores.
@@SpecificLove7 thank you.
Nice Work.

i would have cut angles on the brace ends so it didn't look like it came from china
The key word is 'simple'. Not everyone has those skills yet and this is a great beginner project
Thats looked like a hatchet job, looked really poor. Probably wont last more than 2 seasons.
Why so critical? I would love to have that hatchet job as you call it.

@@stephenhumphrey1767 the only improvement I would make is installing one or not in my yard!
