- Wow! The HST from Hornby has been upgraded and improved over previous models beyond belief. Not only is the detail simply stunning but the sheer power of these beasties will just blow you away.

5 years ago, this was one of the first videos that I watched from you and the reason why I subscribed. Nostalgia is hitting me hard...
I get to see 125's everyday as I live in Cornwall and we have First Great Western liveried HST's the dark blue livery is to my eyes beautiful
Congrats mate, excellent purchase and review!
Well done for 2 years on here ! I must say shes very powerful I have one of these in Virgin Livery. The Intro was great and sounded like the jingle of my local station lol.
Great review! Congratulations with 2 years on RUclips! ;)
ive been watching ur videos since u started you have come a long way well done nice model btw considering getting one
Nice Review. Congrats On 2 Years and the IC Swallow Livery is my favourite on a HST so i need one badly. LOL :)
This is my favourite livery of all time. I grew up watching these come and go. The old engines used to terrify me because they were so loud!
2 years of great reviews!
Great vid! Fantastic HST that! Pulls really well! Shes the same livery as my Class 47 "Windsor Castle". Intercity Swallow. Faved!
true! I shall be sure to call them that in the future. Thanks
congratulations on 2 years on you tube.
really lovely loco,WELL DONE!!!!!!! OMG
Great video as usual
Great video! I have the old hornby class 43 in first livery and it can only just haul 2 coaches.
i watched the original video so many times. its amazing to see this loco again
Another great video Will and this one is also on my list of must buys. Hornby needs to release this and the Blue/Grey again along with the matching coaches.
awesome its good to see another HST
CONGRATULATIONS!
@graystrainspotter - haha, updates are due soon. But I will only release the videos I want to when I feel I want to.
@TheRandomChannelTV - thank you!
Congrads lad
@BritishRail2002 - thank you for the comment! :)
My first selection when I got back into the hobby after watching your video on the other livery. I simply love this set. Coaches were hard to come by in that livery but I managed to get some. Every layout should have one of these, regardless of livery!
Excelent review IC82! Personaly for me this is a 10, shame the packaging let it down a bit :P. Personaly my favorite livery since I remember growing up in the 80s and 90s seeing these running back and forth via Gloucester.
Executive livery is slightly different to Swallow. Looks like a nice train pack. Fabulous Video!
great review and a great 2 years on youtube will it would be great to have one of these instead of the less detailed one i have heard thear superb with 9 coaches and smooth running
Also Congratulations for 2 years on You Tube :-D
Amazing!
"Who needs the gym, just do train reviews." Love it!!
Ive been on a HST before
Beautiful train
@BhanuHabbo - haha! thanks for the comment - much appreciated.
@ReyoNeutra - thanks for the comment! :) And I quite agree.
@Damocles178 the new HSTs by Hornby have centrally mounted motors which drive both bogies. They're very powerful as a result - plus the level of detail is very high.
@Whizzer1 - thank you! yes they're ace :)
@EasternRegionspotter - thanks for the comment!
"were getting there"
@deano91209 - this was filmed aftr decorating and so the layout is in a state of 'flux' :)
@Intercity25 - thanks for the comment! Intros are made using Adobe After Effects
My first trai set was the 125 'swallow', bought for me when I was 6 years old in 1988; it was just like the old one in this video...not sure I would let a 6 year old play with the new model! Very impressive..although Hornby trains these days seem to be proper scale models compared to when I was younger (and much more expensive too!)
I love the swallow livery. It's just so different. Wasn't Thora Hird the woman who got in the Triumph Herald & say "I'm sure this knob weren't here last time" lol. Great vid. Really enjoyed it
@streamlinedtrains - haha! I did think about the Thora Hird bit whilst editing but I thought, nah, leave it in. :D
Holy crap. That is one hell of a level crossing. ;)
that is awesome
I just noticed the track cleaner was your first vid! (technically the hst is your first REVIEW.)
Again great review Also like the comparison between old and new. One thing they are not locos but power cars a big difference
Man, I wish I had this one because it's one of my favorite train liveries for the intercity, I wish they make more of these. 😔
Railfox Productions Hornsby are going to release one of these with TTS sound soon
i used to have one of these in N scale, marked up class 253! as it was executive but pre swallow
@BritishRailways60163 - oh wow! Have you got a vid of that online?
@jiggy588 thanks for the comment!
uploads have started again actually! Series 4:Prologue has just started
Great model, hope to get a EMT livery, im celebrating 2 years in a few weeks btw
@125GNER - thanks for the comment!
Yes! The premium HST by Hornby (so 2006 onwards) come in either DCC Ready or DCC Fitted.
@mongoosekid14 - thanks for the comment! lol
always wanted one may get the cheap hornby railroad one first ?
My cousin has wanted the same class 43 that you've got so how much does it cost?
(at the end) wow that's a full set and not all coaches are the same livery, just like in real life LOL.
its not the only loco though cat can pull 8 coaches, my Hornby Black 5 has pulled 8 it was slipping a bit but it pulled them
nice review
@EWS60008 - wow! Thanks for the comment(s)! You definietly know your stuff! :) Keep up the good work!
What scale is this model and how much does it cost?
BAhahahaha! This is great! - some of my favourite quotes from you over the years! "I can summarize this video with three words John Wesley won't like: OH MY GOD!"
Also the "Thora Hird, who is a nice old dear..... but she's dead now..... *Awkward pause*"
Regarding the HST though, its 100% pure Win! Beautiful locomotive- one of my favourites of all time.
@modelrailwayCORP - well they lack in detail a bit but they still run well.
Can you put two powered units together? Say for dcc could you like double head them?
@JAS0NJW - it's spelt Great but B for effort :P I may well do a 158 soon actually.
@antsimkins - such information will be on the IC82 website ;)
I've actuallly got a mid 90's Hornby Intercity 125; it's color is more akin to the recent model :) I also have one buffet coach that's very gray like that old 125 in your video (got in seperately in a shop); I wondered why it looked so different from my mid 90's stock; doesn't even match them. By the way is is true that the newer Hornby 125's have central mounted motors as opposed to rear bogie ones?
@clusterfak - yes that Valenta sound is music to my ears :P
@Stanier8F - I'm afraid I don't know but I'm sure it can be found out on the Net.
Yup!
@TheBros24 - thank you! :)
@foxcell - thank you! :)
@intercity can you tell me how much did you buy the train for
First of all, Class 43 sets do run with just the power cars sometimes when on light engine moves. And secondly, if the DCC chip goes in the dummy car, how does it control the motor without wires between the two?
@mendcg - they are designed to work in pairs only.
@itgamer100 - thank you my friend! :)
where did you buy this loco? plzz i really want it
@ApacheBravo - I shall sort the barrier I'm sure but yes you're right aboutthe HST, heaps and heaps of power! :)
Is there any chance you could point me in the direction of those InterCity liveried Mk3s? The only ones in that livery I've come across seem quite old and similar in quality to the old style 43 that you showed, definitely worse than the Virgin and the like that you come across currently.
@jacobporrett - thank you! :)
Hey! I am new to you.Just can you check if there are any model railway shops in liverpool:)
And where did you get the loco from please,please tell me.
COOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL
thats my faverite livery hst
Have u got plans to get the premium virgin trains hst to match the mk3s
@LMS16440 - thank you my friend! :)
ok will do thanks
The hst is my favourite train of all time
It's amazing I hope to get one in East Midlands
do u have the east midlands one
Awsome video and loco and wheres the blu tac gone
I have been on this train in real life when i was 12!
im getting the hornby Xcountry hst for christmas !i realy hope it works as well as yours!
@HornbyTrainsChannel - thanks!
@InterCity82 why did you change the temporeay layout?
@26crosscountry - ahhh nice!! I like any HST lol
I'm not sure to be exact, but it will have been around in t he 80s for sure, possibly into the early 90s.
I love the Class 43 HST, Best thing i love the FGW HST
@ InterCity82
HST Is the train that saved The National Rail .
It was supposed to only be temporary but people loved it so much that National Rail Decided to keep it.
Just a little story.
Also a quick Question If You've got a DC Train With working lights
Do you need a DCC Remote to turn them on
Or can you just have a DC controller
@thebritfarmer - haha yes, the livery you mention is definitely one of the smartest!
@InterCity82 Yes, just like this one, unboxing and running. Have a look. :)
Have you got the euro star
Hi Intercity82 I love this locomotive, it's got so much detail Well done for 2 years on youtube, what software do you use for you intros?????
