I have a 96 F-150 and if your mustang 302 is like mine that's going to be easy peasy. All the F-150 videos don't give the clarity you gave in this video. Great Job! Thanks!
Quick question, long story, but do you think putting a 2001 cobra crank sensor on a 98 cobra engine would cause a no start issue? I just swapped a freshly rebuilt 98 cobra motor, different pistons and rods (forged) into a 2001 cobra. All (98%) of the sebsors are the same. I tried starting the car for the first time today and I got a no start with a weird popping sound. I'm reluctant to say but it doesn't sound too good, but again, everything is new. Of course I can't say for sure, but the shop that put the engine together is reputable and I have faith that they timed the engine correctly, and if there was any clearance issues, they would've known at the shop so I'm hoping the ECU is just having an issue with the crank sensor. Have you have any similar experiences with crank sensors from different years of the same engine?
I see you used a 4 v for this video. I have a GT and I did remove the bolts but it seemed I didn't have enough room to slide the sensor out. Do I need to disconnect the ac connector for more clearance cause I didn't..
Great video man,i am in the process of restoring a harness and just wanted to know what it looked like under the car before i get in there, just gotta disconnect a few things on the bottom of the car, harness is filthy , wire loom is broken in many places due to heat etc, gonna look brand new when i'm done, thanks!
Hey my car has been not cranking the first try but cranks the 2nd time. Code says camshaft position sensor which I replaced and it does the same thing. Should I go by changing the crankshaft position sensor as well?
billy bobthorton the code is reading camshaft sensor,I replaced it and it still does it. It cranks up better with the camshaft sensor unplugged which I found to be odd
If I replaced my injectors my spark plugs, coils, new connector new fuel pressure sensor and new gaskets on the intake would the crankshaft sensor throw code for cylinder 5 misfire, misfire on start up and bank 2 to run lean? And it’s on a 05 mustang gt
If it’s telling you a cylinder, that is most likely the coil pack, plug , or it’s wiring for that cylinder. If it’s telling you a bank (bank 2 is driver side) it is most likely from a front oxygen sensor for that side. The crank position sensor only monitors the crankshaft
I understand. I am saying it won’t be a code from the crank position sensor telling you a specific cylinder is misfiring. It would have to be due to a bad plug (cracked), coil pack, or wiring. As for a lean or rich bank, that comes from the front o2 sensor for that side. Swap the coil pack and plug to another cylinder and see if the code comes up for the same cylinder or follows it. Unplug the negative battery terminal while you do the repair to not short anything out and to reset the current code
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage I’ll try that out with the plug cause I already tried the coil pack and still came up #5 and what do you think would cause the misfire on start up?
Hey man, I doubt you will see this comment but I need some help. I bought a 2002 Mustang GT non running, the owner said it had a bad PCM. He said that he also replaced the fuel pump. I replaced the PCM and it did not start. Since then I have replaced the crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, the battery, all the spark plugs, all the ignition coils, checked all the fuses, tried using starter fluid, and tried using an OBD2 scanner all to no avail. I don't know what to do. Please help, thank you.
Scykronic There are a few more things in this video you can try. Last resort, swap the ccrm with another similar car (link to that in the video description I’m sending you) ruclips.net/video/JvgKGJjAwU0/видео.html
would a bad CPS have anything to do with a car thats stumbling from idle (taking off from stop light etc) I've gotten into the habit of giving it some gas before taking off to prevent this, also when shifting gears the car tends to having a surging / bucking sensation at lower rpms and smooths out at higher rpm, I can make the symptom appear on freeway if I shift into 5th gear at a lower speed (constantly surges) 2000 GT / Stock motor.
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Forgot to mention ive replaced sparkplugs, coilpacks and cleaned MAF sensor, it still has the factory coil pack connectors ive read those can be a problem as well but not sure if I can test them somehow or should I just try replacing them all, thanks for the reply.

The CKP connector on the 98 mustang base v6 is ergonomically stupid, with no easy clip like you have here. Have to unbolt the sensor and bring it into the light to have any chance of disconnecting it.
Kyron Glasker Yes. Some models you may need to drop the ac compressor like in mine, some don’t. You’ll just have to find it. Same general location around the crankshaft
Nope. Just plug it in. The worst case would be you got a check engine light for a bad one and need to disconnect the negative battery terminal for a few minutes to reset it, but that should be it.
