Can I get away with 50% front two windows tinted?

- Maybe so.... it just depends on where you live in California and the darkness of your rear windows. The bigger contrast between rear windows and front two 50% will make it less likely for cops to tell that there’s tint. However, if you come across a cop with a tint meter then there’s no way around that. From personal and customer experience we haven’t had any issues.

I swear 50% looks dark in some lighting and almost non existant in other lighting. It's crazy
thats just how windows/glass works. depends on the lighting and surroundings, even on 70% or no tint, lightin can cause glare/reflections and you won't be able to see much through the window anyway.
Ive had 30% tint on my windshield for over a year, never had a problem, but it depends on how the police are where you live.

I’m glad you pointed that out. 50% and 35% is the best shade combo to make a smooth transition. It’ll show an almost even shade all around.
I have 5% rears, and 18% front. Never had a problem lol

my dad has 5% and i've been rocking 20%. neither of us have gotten a ticket.
Can't tell front or back looks the same. Next time put the G,ride in the sun light that will show the difference. In the shade of the tree is just makes them darker. 😎
Did it on purpose so you can see it in a darker environment. I have plenty more videos of Teslas in the Sun

No. It's just an illusion. The exterior colour has zero effect on the tint. It's just the contrasting brightness that fools you.
I have a black car with black Interior and 35% tint all around does look darker but 35% is to light
It all have to do with your window angle and vehicle height
Most vehicles have 70% in the glass indicated on the sticker in the corner. 50% over factory 70% puts you at 35%, if you’re really worried in a strict state go 70% tint over factory 70. This will put you at roughly 50% VLT and you’ll get left alone by law enforcement (for the most part)

50% is pointless. Limo on the back, 20 on the fronts if you drive at night and dont wanna roll down your windows to see. Tried 5 percent at night and its too dark and unsafe in my opinion, yeah it feels badboy and looks the shit but not worth killing someone for 👌🏻 if you only drive it in the daytime then 5% is the business and i love the privacy just really doesnt work in the dark especially when raining! UK laws much stricter too ya’ll have it easy in the states man 😎😂

Just stick some 35% on the fronts sure you’ll be fine. Is it only a fine as the penalty? We get 3 points for it here spesh if its dark tint so more of an issue. If its just panda cars then they dont bother you its only traffic cars like bmw police that stop ya. Ive had mine for a few years and no issues thinking of 50 on the front windscreen too 👌🏻

I’m surprised the 50 was that dark in the front. Maybe the shade and black interior?

Yes. Only front windows and windshield are enforced. I live in Southern California and I’ve had 7% on my front windows for months. No one bothers me. But to fair, I live in a rural county. 50 miles from any large city.

California doesn't do inspections. All they do is test emissions and that's it

I love seeing tesla drivers get cited for no front plates and >70% front tints.
I’ve had 1 Tesla customer out of 1,000 get cited for tint lol since 2018
