A hint for getting rid of those bubbles in the barrel...with the tip facing up, very slowly turn the piston as if you're going to empty the barrel. You'll see the air bubbles come up to the base of the feed and they'll "pop". Then, turn the piston the other way to let the ink fully return to the barrel. Just remember to do it very slowly (and have a paper towel below...just in case. :) )

I absolutely love your videos! The Coral Eco-T was the first TWSBI I bought in 2019. It is currently inked the Diamine Pink Champagne shimmer. Even with the F nib it never fails to write. Kaweco pens…love them but have replaced nibs for larger size seeking better ink performance. I purchased B and BB in green and burgundy with hopes of beautiful ink performance for Christmas! I love your doodle journal. I need to doodle more. Thanks for the reminder. Oh, I had the same problem with lid opening on FWP. I adore the globe bottle, but hope they revamp the bottle opening. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for your kind words! As an educator, you know this year is just as idiosyncratic as the prior two Covid years, so positivity and connections are SO appreciated.I’m going to try flossing that Kaweco nib this weekend. I really liked that nib with the Lennon Tool Bar Pit Sian ink (“pen fairy”), but in hindsight, I feel hard starts have always been an issue.

Thanks for the positivity! I have to admit being self-conscious about doodling, since in my art brain I spent hours on each drawing, and doodling is so tangled with those UNFINISHED and EXPLORATORY parts of the process that I’m not necessarily comfortable sharing. That reveals a generative freedom I would like to cultivate-no matter how awkward. 🌸🕊

Thank you for your video. Very helpful for me figuring out if I made the right choice ordering twsbi 580 medium nib. I am new to art journaling and am interested in combining my love of words, art, pens and ink ( oh and stickers!) I look forward to following you along on your journey as well 📔🖋️

I'm so sorry; not sure how I did not respond. What do you think of your pen? Do you post on Instagram or YTube?

Your comparison of the kaweco and the TWSBI is so insightful! I have a kaweco with a medium nib that’s been giving me headaches. I flossed it and the hard starts got a little better, but now I’m curious to try a TWSBI to see if I like that better overall.

Great video. I ordered that Ferris Wheel Press ink just yesterday.
ATM, I am journaling, almost exclusively with shimmer inks. I always have 1-2 pens with broad or stub nibs loaded with shimmer ink - usually a TWSBI or Lamy because they are easy to take a part and clean. I don’t clean my pens loaded with shimmer ink any more than I clean a pen with any oyher ink (usually every 2-3 weeks).

Hi, Tonya, I hope you love the Queen and Castle as much as I do! I'm encouraged to read about your shimmer ink experience... It's odd for me; I was very happy with my Kaweco fountain pens UNTIL I inked them with shimmer inks.

@@scribblesandinkstains Sounds like it could also be a feed issue. I’ll have to try a shimmer in my Kaweco BB.

@@addicted2analogue yes, I think you’re right about the feed. I’ll open up a TWSBI vs Kaweco nib/feed unit next time I clean and ink a batch of pens. I’ve been happy with my Kaweco pens UNTIL I get to a “temperamental” ink, and then it quickly turns into a DNF (did not finish the ink and flushed it out in order to move on to a different inky experiment). I’d love to hear about your experiences if you try a shimmer. I’ll also check out some of the forums to see if I’m just missing something obvious 😙.

      🥰🥰 What a great first pen! I don't know why I avoided the Eco-T model, it's fantastic!

Thanks so much for your comment, Maike. I’ll try flossing that Kaweco this weekend and will report back if it improves. From XF to broad, TWSBI nibs are my most consistent, wet writers. Other nibs I have to be more aware of ink characteristics… But this is my first year of being obsessed with inks and fountain pens, so all opinions are based on experience within that narrow context….
