I always loved that Ma understood and respected Laura's feelings for Almanzo. She never said Laura was too young or childish for feeling that way.

My favorite with Ma talking to Laura was the time Laura put apples in her dress and they fell out when she went to the blackboard, then she ran out of the school. She didn't want to ever go back (can't blame her!) but Ma said to go back and be herself, not an imitation of someone else. I wish my mother had been more like Caroline. She was so understanding. I couldn't talk to my mother.

As far as tv wives and tv moms, it tough not to vote Caroline Ingalls #1 in both categories. So understanding, so wise and caring. She had the ability to somehow view the innermost part of you and provide the right answer for the inner struggle every single time. Her soft and tender voice is enough to ease any type of pain.
Karen Grassle’s portrayal of ma Ingalls was masterful.

She's a very wise lady. I think that is why Caroline sacrificed having a beautiful new dress for herself, so the fabric could be used to make Mary and Laura dresses, so they could look pretty for the class presentation. She knew that having a beautiful, new dress would give Laura the confidence and courage she needed to read her essay to her class. And the essay she read came straight from her heart and it was beautiful.

These shows always stink at getting Christianity right. "Maybe God's testing you to see if your worthy of his love" 🤔🤨 what does that mean?
Christianity teaches that we are all unworthy and we can only be worthy through Christ. We don't earn God's love but Jesus does it all because of HIS love. Jesus came to live in our place and die on our behalf. We don't do anything. Jesus did it all.
