I love how Laura stood right up to Mrs. Oleson about the price of the eggs and did so like a lady. It reminds me of the first time Laura's Ma did business with Mrs. Oleson....she had brown eggs and Mrs. Oleson wanted to pay her less money for the brown eggs and Ma did the same thing...she sold the brown eggs to Mr. Nelson for 3 cents more than what Mrs. Oleson gave her and put the other woman in her place. lol
I loved the line “hard working folks only smell bad to folks who have nothing better to do than stick their noses in the air. Well whenever you stick your nose in the air with me, it’s gonna get punched”

I know! I didn't like Mary's attitude towards that handyman neither because there was nothing going on between him and her mother that was all Mrs. Oleson's handiwork, running off with her big mouth as always and of course Nellie didn't help things but I do like how Mary slapped her a good one across the face.

I watched them when I was a child decades ago. Still can't hold my tears when I watch them again.
the thing that appealed to me was the realism in the show, it might sound trite in todays world but for a moment it let you feel something that was a basis to humanity, and it changed you in some small way, maybe you appreciated more some part of what you have or you felt less guarded when interacting with the people around you. to me the show represented the humanity we all accept in our lives yet the show showed us we are more human than we let on for others to see. does this make any sense? i still get a warm feeling after watching and i want to share it with others. theres some hope for all of us.
I came here to hear Laura's real voice as the TV series was dubbed in Greece (although most foreign films/series are subtitled). I think Laura is the daughter we would all love to have !! Simply adorable!

In the scene where Mary slapped Nellie (at about the 4:24 to 4:30 mark), it was suppose to be a physical fight, but the relationship between Melissa Sue Anderson (the real Nellie Olsen) and Alison Arngrim was so bad that the producers thought a real physical fight would breakout after Melissa Sue threatened to physically harm Alison, that they decided to just go with a slap.
I don't blame them. You can see genuine anger in her eyes.

She really didn't get along with Melissa Gilbert either, but she played her sister so she tolerated her more. That's what was said in an interview.
I can see Albert and Laura are more or less similar, no wonder they got along so well.

@@0507mommyto2 In the episode "Remember me", Mrs. Sanderson is going to die, she has 3 children and Charles Ingalls has to find a home for them. Alice one of the children retain a puppy, and in that episode Mr. Edwards marries with the widow Schneider and the couple adopts the 3 children.

This show is one of the most underrated shows of all time. There was so much to learn from just the kids! It’s the greatest show of all time and I wish Laura had gotten to watch it! See how her hard work paid off!

Mary was only a couple of years older than Laura. If somebody that close to my age had been left in charge of me, I would have ignored them, too.
I DID ignore my sister when she was left in charge because she let it go to her head just like Mary did.
at least Nellie Olsen didn't wear black lipstick and act like she was gonna beat up old people.. I actually have more respect for her just because she found out she was wrong for picking on Laura in school and became freinds with laura in the last few seasons of the show than I do my cousin in real life who just took a turn for the worse!
I just rewatched the Johnny Cash episode. Mary handles Harriet Oleson like a boss in that episode and then later Johnny Cash's character.

I know! I read the book Melissa Gilbert wrote and I found that amusing! It was as if Melissa Sue Anderson KNEW she was pretty and shunned Gilbert. You just never know what went on behind the scenes until you read about it. 😊

Little house doesn’t feel like little house anymore past season 6
Yea after Laura and Almonzo got married I usually never go past the season. Adam and Mary disappeared, Nancy, James and Cassandra got really annoying, more of a replay. Nancy was just evil, James was just always in the way and all Cassandra did was cry alot, and Carrie practically was placed to stand in the background. Thet could have allowed Albert to stay in Wlanut Grove maybe to finish his schooling there. Willie wasn't so bad after Nellie got married. Plus the season with the Carters wasn't that great either. Its sad that Mary and Carrie weren't even in the final episode.

There's way more fisticuffs on this show than there was in the books. But Michael Landon would sometimes substitute the fisticuffs on Bonanza for the fisticuffs on Little House.

Alison (Nellie Olsen) and Melissa Gilbert also did a beautiful acting job of hating each other. They were the VERY BEST of friends during the entire series!
She was not a snob. She was told by her parents to keep her distance from everyone. If you want to talk about a bully,well Melissa and her brother has not spoken to each other in decades because she treated her brother so badly. She even admitted to this and that the estrangement is het fault
