When I first found this I watched it at least twice a day for 3 weeks. I watch so many music vids repetitively that I went back to some of my favorites for a week or so but I watch this at least once a week. It is by far my top favorite. Pink Floyd is my favorite group, Jimmy Hendrix is my favorite guitarist and Hey Joe is in my top 3 favorite songs. David Gilmour's razor sharp guitar and Seals bad ass persona and great voice make me glad I'm alive to enjoy it. Certain songs take me places I can't explain but will never question. This is one of those songs.
Gilmour and Seal just wow! I don't think I've heard any other singer do this worth listening too until I saw this. Jimi holds it in surpreme, but Seal and Gilmour nailed it to the roof.
Now i was NOT expecting this powerful performance when i clicked on this cover. Seal´s vocals raised the hairs on the back of my neck. He´s quiet and real. There´s no drama, it´s the kind of conversation you can believe is actually happening and the violent culture that brought it about just an accepted way of life. But the tension builds and at the end Seal is screaming, Hey Joe, NO NO NO NO! It´s SO sad..geez..blown away!

Amazing how you can pick that up through guitar not even a voice. Both are legends. So cool to hear one legend play another legends song. Awesome👍

Let's not forget how good Gilmour is at rythm guitar, apart from lead. He has given many examples of this along the years. He has been chosen as session musician and producer many times. He was the Musical Director to this event, according to the credits. He clearly asks on stage the other lead guitarrist if he's ok, after having been slightly carried away during his conribution to the solo. Great Gilmour, he is the "polished diamond", in the words of paul McCartney.
Lots of great performances of this song all through RUclips. I keep finding more. This one's one of the best. Great vocal feeling. Gilmour's guitar soars but soundman missed it on the volume.
So, Jimi played other peoples' music, in this case a Billy Roberts song, in such a transcendant way that EVERYone thinks of them as his. Bob Dylan used to give Jimi stuff that he hadn't recorded to ask him to see if he could do something with them, like "Please Come Crawl Out Your Window". When Jimi finally released "All Along The Watchtower", Dylan says that when he first heard it, he thought - "That's how it's supposed to sound!" You see, Jimi had inverted the chords, for one thing. Dylan went into the studio at his first opportunity and recorded his own "new" version and has played it that way ever since. It is always a special thrill, for me anyways, to see a great guitarist tear into a solo of a Hendrix song. Because they feel the same way about Jimi as you or I do. Blessings

To me both are great guitar players who followed different ways and from time to time enjoyed to do something else. Why always compare ?
This piece is so relevant and truly the best version ever, thanx to JIMI for letting the spirit of this tune become an iconic blues number...and to SEAL and DAVID, WOWZA KABLAMO! Maybe a reunion concert, or collaboration for us in the know.

Gus Isidore was in Phil Pynott's solo Band too (look up Phil Lynott and the Soul Band), which kinda explains why he looks a bit like him. Both he and Seal play lefthanded Guitar the same way, ie both upside-down and backwards (with the low E string at the bottom).
This is only one of many interpretations and no one will play like Jimi because, everyone has their own style and technique, it is so difficult to understand?
I love this. This is a great performance on both their ends, with Seal's extraordinary vocals and with Gilmour's almost unbeatable guitar skills. Two great artists playing another amazing artist's song. It's really amazing to see. I love Hendrix, and I know a ton of other people do, but try to keep an open mind when listening. It is someone else's song and it's good to remember that, but don't let the comparison ruin the experience for you
