Bad ass video my man !! I took my ua 15 a couple weeks ago . I failed but you keep the faith in me bud . I’ll be taking it again next week and I’ll pass for you bud 🤙🍻
Seen many guys fail the bend test only because they didn't prep their test pieces well and rushed it. You can have a perfect weld but if you have any little indentions on the edges and you don't take the time and round and smooth them out those will turn into stress risers and could crack. Another excellent video. My back aches just watching how many times we have to go around those damn things to fill them in..
Watch your root on (super)duplex, Make sure to dip and break down the walls of you bevel, it welds really nice but the root can be tricky. Its notorious for people failing X-rays because of unbroken walls on the root.
What I always do it I'll put my root a amp im comfortable with, hot pass pass I'll put up abut more and as my fillers, capping I'll put abit lower then my my last filler run,no under cut no lack of fusion nice straight beed clean over lap on stringers
316L and 2209 Duplex welder here, did this test a couple months ago, and honestly feel like you can get away with anything with mild steel. It's really weird to me to be welding without a purge too. The main issue I found is how quickly it gets so damn hot.

thats look like booth number1 to me lol anyway i was there for the last two weeks didn't see u ( don't know u in person but guess u have sticker on ur helmet lol have a nice day
I didn’t understand at the end what you meant about the hydraulic bender and that it was changed. What was the difference between the two different benders? Thank you for the video!
*If you don't mind I can answer that for you. The press had the words "Heartbreaker" written in welding on the front of the machine. Meaning if your coupons break it will break your heart. I guess guys complained. It basically made a mockery of the coupon bend test. Not very professional in my opinion. I don't know if they switched it out because guys (or possibly gals) complained is true or not. Those presses must be fairly expensive. I mean, why not just grind off the words and just keep using the same press? problem solved.*
If one was to get a lot of undercut on the inside of the pipe when putting in the root, what would you say they might be doing wrong? The undercut is on the top and bottom almost the full circumference of the pipe. There are no missed bevels or lack of fusion just a lot of undercut.
Chodzi o to żeby kropla była w połowie na drugiej stronie - widać jak się wylewa do środka. Trzeba być bardzo skupionym żeby śledzić materiał topliwy podczas procesu.
*Just an observational comment. That is not schedule 160 pipe. Schedule 160 has a much thinner wall thickness at .343 inches (8.738 mm). Just type schedule 160 2 inch test coupon on RUclips and you will see the difference. Other than that another great video.*

Nice video, Have you welded duplex/superd duplex? I will be starting a job soon, and asking for any tips with that type of stainless.
Yes I did, but long time ago, if I ever get my hands on that I’ll make a video 👍

Sounds like you have a solid plan for your 6G welding!👍

Yeah, small diameter gets hot fast

Very nice video man! Why is not possible to use grinder in other tests? And for what are used this thick pipes?
Do you do mostly shutdowns or are you on a maintenance crew?
Mostly shutdowns
Can you film a UA- 21 test if you get the opportunity?

I am from Brazil but in this moment I am in working Angola
Fala meu conterrâneo!
Poderia me informar como faz e como que está o salário aí?

Do you have to cut and bend the coupons yourself after welding? I've never seen this in Europe, this is done by the lab/(N)DT people
They cut and bend for you, all you have to do is to clean them.

Did you go to the Fabtech show?
No I didn’t, maybe next time.
i just graduated trade school & now looking for welding jobs. where do i find a job like this ?

@X3MTIG I'm 146, and we have heartbreaker on our bender for our coupons......lol

You are right, I used boiler tube for test, and boiler tube is double in size for wall thickness around 16 mm. Good catch 👍
To much root 😢
