Altaria is a pretty big cuddlebug, all things considered. It averts not only the traditional appearance of dragons, but their behaviour. Even Dragonite, who is one of the friendlier dragons, can have its bad days, but we don't really hear of such for Altaria.
One of my favorites is Skitty's: "Skitty has the habit of becoming fascinated by moving objects and chasing them around. This Pokémon is known to chase after its own tail and become dizzy."
Personally, I can see myself walking around a farmer's market with Ricky, my Alolan Raticate, on a leash. Whenever we stop near a stall selling fresh food, he'll squeak to let me know.

I'm a member of the goodra fanclub. And I wholeheartedly believe they all deserve every bit of hug and love you can give em. Love them gooey dragons. ❤❤

Here are ten of my favourites (of those not featured in this video) in no particular order: Volcarona (Ultra Moon): "According to legends, it was hatched from a flaming cocoon to save people and Pokémon that were suffering from the cold." So this beast will not rest until nobody is suffering. Alakazam (Ultra Moon): "If it trusts someone deeply, it will let them have one of its spoons. Anything you eat with that spoon is apparently delicious." Especially knowing how important those spoons are to an Alakazam, this is pretty sweet. Pangoro (X, Omega Ruby): "Although it possesses a violent temperament, it won’t put up with bullying. It uses the leaf in its mouth to sense the movements of its enemies." It's good to know that not all Dark-types are always chaotic evil and some even have a halfway respectable moral compass. It seems like small potatoes but Pangoro's strength means it must be pretty effective at its anti-bullying lifestyle. Altaria (Platinum, Black, White): "If it bonds with a person, it will gently envelop the friend with its soft wings, then hum." This one's pretty self-explanatory, but no less sweet than if it were less evident. Mega Pidgeot (Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee): "With its muscular strength now greatly increased, it can fly continuously for two weeks without resting." Reading of such ability is simply awe-inspiring, and it's coupled with the fact of an older Pokémon getting more love and having a niche to help it stand out in the crowd of Normal/Flying types; a pin-point accurate Hurricane. Espeon (Ruby, Sapphire, [Emerald], OR/AS): "[An] Espeon is extremely loyal to any trainer it considers to be worthy. It is said that this Pokémon developed its precognitive powers to protect its trainer from harm." Eeveelutions usually just get descriptions of what this particular mutation has in store for Eevee, like dissolving in water (Vaporeon) or freezing its fur for needles (Glaceon). Besides Sylveon, Espeon is one of the only ones to get a description that is more positive and less straight scientific. Its powers arising from wanting to protect its trainer is a nice change of pace from "it just has them". Ampharos (Pretty much all of them, but this wording being from Gold, LeafGreen, HeartGold, X and Y): "The tail's tip shines brightly and can be seen from far away. It acts as a beacon for lost people." Amidst all the fast Electric-types and Pokémon who are measured how well they can de-rail a train, how many adults they can lift and hurl, or how much they can ruin your life, it's nice to see a Pokémon seen in nothing but a positive light and having a relatively unique trait. It indirectly showcases the calm and gentle nature of this lovable 'mon. Is it any wonder it became my favourite Electric-type? Jumpluff (Crystal, Y): "Even in the fiercest wind, it can control its fluff to make its way to any place in the world it wants." Think this little Pokémon can be blown away by a gentle sneeze? Think again! Its ability to give strong gusts the finger (arm stub?) makes it a truly awe-inspiring 'mon. Plus, it's pretty cute to boot, and doesn't have a dark secret unlike fellow doofy-faced Pokémon Vileplume. Sceptile (Sapphire, Alpha Sapphire): "Sceptile has seeds growing on its back. They are said to be bursting with nutrients that revitalize trees. This Pokémon raises the trees in a forest with loving care." This guy is Aggron's gardening buddy, for sure. It's also the very first Pokémon I had (having grown up with gen 3) so it gets extra points from me. Leavanny (Black, B2W2, X, Omega Ruby): "Upon finding a small Pokémon, it weaves clothing for it from leaves, using the cutters on its arms and sticky silk." It's mentioned doing this for its own young, as would be expected, but the fact it also cares for the young of other Pokémon is pretty adorable.
I'm pretty sure he adopted the Cubone from Mr. Fuji's home. After the ghost encounter in the tower, the Cubone is no longer in Mr. Fuji's house, and Trace suddenly has one in his party.
Blissey's is one that always makes me feel better," Blissey senses sadness with its fluffy coat of fur. If it does so, this Pokémon will rush over to a sad person, no matter how far away, to share a Lucky Egg that brings a smile to any face". I'll never not smile to this.
With Blissey & Chansey handing out delisious eggs to the sick and Happiny pretending a rock is her egg, this entire line is just so positively wholesome

@DeadlockDrago Nope, according to the dex what makes marowak ghost type is the vengeful spirit of it's dead mother protecting it. Its very protective of it's companions and dances to mourn their loss. So normal marowak have a hardened spirit, while alolan marowak have become very protective of others.
From Goodra's Ultra Sun entry: "It's very friendly toward people. If you grow close to it, Goodra will hug you with its sticky, slime-covered body. Don't get mad." I, for one, would happily accept a hug from the world's cutest pseudo-legendary.
1 pokemon i can say is wholesome and brave is Floatzel: "It floats using its well-developed flotation sac. It assists in the rescues of drowning people." "With its flotation sac inflated, it can carry people on its back. It deflates the sac before it dives." the fact that Floatzel is willing to risk it's life to save someone from drowning is amazing

Swablu, Omega Ruby: Swablu has light and fluffy wings that are like cottony clouds. This Pokémon is not frightened of people. It lands on the heads of people and sits there like a cotton-fluff hat.
It's really too bad Absol gets such a bad reputation in-universe. It's always been one of my personal favorite dark types, and it's Pokedex entries are just one part of the reason I think it's such a great Pokemon.

I still feel like the mega entries for Alola are as tragic as they are, because mega evolution is a foreign concept to Alola, so no one really knows how to control the immense power it produces. In the lore of many depictions, X and Y, the anime, and even super mystery dungeon, mega evolution is powerful, and anyone can attempt it, but only those strong enough of mind, and have a strong bond with their Pokémon can perfect it. If a trainer is too weak, the Pokémon loses control and goes berserk. In the case of super mystery dungeon, there are no humans to share the burden and maintain control, so the Pokémon always goes berserk after a while. In my opinion, the Alolan entries only show what happens when a mega evolution fails, as no one has been trained to use it. I know some people will bring up that the player can catch a Pokémon and mega evolve it right away, but I think it is more than just a player convenience for gameplay purposes. The player is always depicted as a prodigy trainer, able to bond with any Pokémon they meet, so that's why I think it works into the lore.

If you make one on sad entries, you have to include Darkrai by default. He isolates himself from the outside world due to a power he has no control over.

I honestly want to move to the Pokémon world to just give up on life and live in a small cottage with nothing more than an army of Swablu that all at one point or another want to be my hat.
Mega Gyarados, LGPE: "Although it obeys its instinctive drive to destroy everything within its reach, it will respond to orders from a Trainer it truly trusts." I like this one because it's almost a reconstruction of Mega Evolution itself. Sure, it's a painful berserk transformation, but if your bond with your Pokémon is strong enough then it'll happily lend this new power to you.
It's like some people have been saying all along: This is why characters talk about you needing a strong bond with your Pokémon for Mega Evolution. All these entries are cases of what happens when you _don't_ have that bond.
I hope Chansey & or Blissey are on this list. They are the sweetest & some of my favourite. If you're sad, they will not rest until they have made you happy.
i dont mind unrealistic fishing, honestly. I have animal crossing if I want to try a closer version if that. now I wouldn't be opposed to walking around with pokemon... or a fishing minigame...

I remember being impressed by the turn around on Absol. It never occurred to me until then that being a harbinger of doom didn't necessarily mean being a _cause_ of doom. It's a nice bit of world-building, too, getting to see how views of Pokémon can change over time.

Mine was Joseph, as I cycled thru Jojo names till I got Jolly or Adamant with Hustle. Guy was the MVP of the playthrough. Against both Lurantis and Mimikyu he was the last one standing.

I think one of the most wholesome entries out there is for Sylveon, when it talks about how they like to wrap their feelers around the wrists of their trainers when they walk together
uh U do kno that wild sylveons use their ribbons to distract prey and then go for the throat.... sylveon is succeding where umbreon is failing (umbreon has no distractions to use on prey)

@@CrystalGreymon Flying requires exponentially more energy the heavier you are. If you don't NEED that extra weight, it's better to shed it. Salamence doesn't really need to bash things with its head now that it has improved mobility and general destructive power, so it can afford to have a thinner cranium than Bagon or Shelgon.
I'm so glad you finally mentioned Salamence in these videos. Reading the Bagon line's Dex entries in Ruby and Sapphire is one of the reasons I fell in love with this franchise.

you can't expect a dour mood to sour everyone's mood the whole month, nor everyone to want to focus on the scary or the exististential issues or the philosophical worries worrying each person at night. thus not every video from a channel- even from one that tends to work with the seasons' cultural themes/moods- has to be spooky and dark

The real demon in the Aggron picture is the purple-haired one, an abuser who gets away with his behavior and doesn't change at all, while getting everything handed to him on a silver platter.
Most of what you said is technically incorrect. First of all, Paul got what he deserved for his abuse on Chimchar by losing to Infernape, the evolution of the exact Pokémon he threw away. And he does change, specifically after his loss to Brandon, at least to an extent. He seems to respect Ash a bit more and is less eager to pick a fight with him. He is even more open with his respect towards Ash after their final battle. And he isn't given everything on a silver platter. Like, at all. He trained his Pokémon and earned his way to the League. In terms of skill, he deserved his victories. It was his training methods that were questionable.
My favorite one from Pokémon crystal...just got bored while playing a nuzlocke then happened to see this hoot hoot entry... It begins to hoot at the same tome every day some trainers use them in place of clocks
With the Sword and Shield release, we already need a second one of these. If for no other reason, than the Drakloak entry. "Without a Dreepy to place on its head and care for, it gets so uneasy it'll try to substitute any Pokémon it finds for the missing Dreepy. "
You know, when I first read that Aggron entry a couple of years ago, I wanted to see a scene in the anime where an Aggron was happily planting trees and what not. Only for it to be accidentally destroyed by Team Rocket, undoing its hard work.
There are early mentions of how absol is actually good. Back in mystery dungeon red and blue rescue team, it is DIRECTLY mentioned that it actually WARNS of disaster, and does so in the game.
The Bagon line of Pokedex entries have always been a favorite of mine. Literally a baby in a helmet that repeatedly hurls itself off a cliff day in and day out to try and fly. Then, it becomes practically immobile due to being covered in an ultra-hard shell in order to protect itself from... itself... yet it still INSISTS on hurling itself off a cliff repeatedly despite being about as mobile as a metapod. And then eventually, after several years of struggling to hurl itself off a cliff repeatedly, it's body just says "ok, you know what? I give up. You want wings so badly? Here, take them. I hope you're happy!" And, from that point forward, what was once a little Bagon became a very, very happy boy.

I love that fact that in Let's go...your rival takes in a cubone and raises it after seeing what has happened to them..its just..very sweet of him.
I'm pretty sure he adopted the Cubone from Mr. Fuji's home. After the ghost encounter in the tower, the Cubone is no longer in Mr. Fuji's house, and Trace suddenly has one in his party.

Nope, according to the dex what makes marowak ghost type is the vengeful spirit of it's dead mother protecting it. Its very protective of it's companions and dances to mourn their loss.
So normal marowak have a hardened spirit, while alolan marowak have become very protective of others.

It's really too bad Absol gets such a bad reputation in-universe. It's always been one of my personal favorite dark types, and it's Pokedex entries are just one part of the reason I think it's such a great Pokemon.
Then when you present them with the Pokédex to refute those claims, they claim it's because kids are always on their phones.

Brionne, Moon, It cares deeply for its companions. When its Trainer is feeling down, it performs a cheery dance to try and help.
I still feel like the mega entries for Alola are as tragic as they are, because mega evolution is a foreign concept to Alola, so no one really knows how to control the immense power it produces. In the lore of many depictions, X and Y, the anime, and even super mystery dungeon, mega evolution is powerful, and anyone can attempt it, but only those strong enough of mind, and have a strong bond with their Pokémon can perfect it. If a trainer is too weak, the Pokémon loses control and goes berserk. In the case of super mystery dungeon, there are no humans to share the burden and maintain control, so the Pokémon always goes berserk after a while. In my opinion, the Alolan entries only show what happens when a mega evolution fails, as no one has been trained to use it. I know some people will bring up that the player can catch a Pokémon and mega evolve it right away, but I think it is more than just a player convenience for gameplay purposes. The player is always depicted as a prodigy trainer, able to bond with any Pokémon they meet, so that's why I think it works into the lore.

Swablu is my favorite for this - so many of its entries tell of it sitting on people's heads and pretending that it's a hat.

The Pokédex might reveal some the scariest thing about Pokémon but it also reveal reveal some amazing things and make them absolute sweethearts

I like this one because it's almost a reconstruction of Mega Evolution itself. Sure, it's a painful berserk transformation, but if your bond with your Pokémon is strong enough then it'll happily lend this new power to you.
It's like some people have been saying all along: This is why characters talk about you needing a strong bond with your Pokémon for Mega Evolution. All these entries are cases of what happens when you _don't_ have that bond.

I remember being impressed by the turn around on Absol. It never occurred to me until then that being a harbinger of doom didn't necessarily mean being a _cause_ of doom. It's a nice bit of world-building, too, getting to see how views of Pokémon can change over time.

I actually did name my Alolan Raticate Remy in my Sun playthrough...
Mine was Joseph, as I cycled thru Jojo names till I got Jolly or Adamant with Hustle.
Guy was the MVP of the playthrough. Against both Lurantis and Mimikyu he was the last one standing.

I think one of the most wholesome entries out there is for Sylveon, when it talks about how they like to wrap their feelers around the wrists of their trainers when they walk together
uh U do kno that wild sylveons use their ribbons to distract prey and then go for the throat.... sylveon is succeding where umbreon is failing (umbreon has no distractions to use on prey)

@@CrystalGreymon Flying requires exponentially more energy the heavier you are. If you don't NEED that extra weight, it's better to shed it. Salamence doesn't really need to bash things with its head now that it has improved mobility and general destructive power, so it can afford to have a thinner cranium than Bagon or Shelgon.
Torchic has always been one of my favorites. Just the thought of hugging a warm lil chicken baby makes me happy. Salamence is a favorite, too.

Espeon’s Deluxe Essential Handbook Pokédex entry states, “When Espeon finds it’s Trainer worthy, it’s loyalty knows no bounds. It apparently learned to predict danger so it could keep it’s Trainer safe.”

The real demon in the Aggron picture is the purple-haired one, an abuser who gets away with his behavior and doesn't change at all, while getting everything handed to him on a silver platter.
Most of what you said is technically incorrect. First of all, Paul got what he deserved for his abuse on Chimchar by losing to Infernape, the evolution of the exact Pokémon he threw away. And he does change, specifically after his loss to Brandon, at least to an extent. He seems to respect Ash a bit more and is less eager to pick a fight with him. He is even more open with his respect towards Ash after their final battle.
And he isn't given everything on a silver platter. Like, at all. He trained his Pokémon and earned his way to the League. In terms of skill, he deserved his victories. It was his training methods that were questionable.

You know, when I first read that Aggron entry a couple of years ago, I wanted to see a scene in the anime where an Aggron was happily planting trees and what not. Only for it to be accidentally destroyed by Team Rocket, undoing its hard work.
I'd wanted to see an episode where this sort of Aggron opposes a vicious and enraged Tyranitar.
This needs to be a series of its own, I love me some good wholesomeness!

There are early mentions of how absol is actually good. Back in mystery dungeon red and blue rescue team, it is DIRECTLY mentioned that it actually WARNS of disaster, and does so in the game.

The Bagon line of Pokedex entries have always been a favorite of mine. Literally a baby in a helmet that repeatedly hurls itself off a cliff day in and day out to try and fly. Then, it becomes practically immobile due to being covered in an ultra-hard shell in order to protect itself from... itself... yet it still INSISTS on hurling itself off a cliff repeatedly despite being about as mobile as a metapod. And then eventually, after several years of struggling to hurl itself off a cliff repeatedly, it's body just says "ok, you know what? I give up. You want wings so badly? Here, take them. I hope you're happy!"
And, from that point forward, what was once a little Bagon became a very, very happy boy.
