  • This is a video for my Stern Venom Premium Edition Pinball Machine just showing an issue that started with the machine around 150 plays that I wanted potential buyers to be aware of and how it got fixed. I did reach out to both Stern Customer Service as well as my Pinball Distributor for assistance in troubleshooting this issue. Both Orange County Pinball and Stern were VERY helpful and I just wanted to put this video together if anyone else out there encounters the same problem with their Venom Premium or Venom Limited Edition Pinball Machines that have had over 100 plays or more - wear and tear baby!

    This is why I have refrained from pursuing real pins. They are expensive as hell and I don't want to work on them when they will inevitably begin to fail.

    Due to such issues, I usually opt for pro editions with fewer mechanical gimmicks. Additionally, the gameplay is much smoother compared to some premium editions

    Another big problem we've ran into on location is if you're changing your character and the scoop is still moving, but you launch the ball and then quickly pluge while the scoop is still moving and hit the bottom position, it will wedge the ball in there and the game cannot free it. We had a final round of a tournament get ruined like this and then randomly a week or two later from just normal play. Defintely a problematic mech

    Cool video. Always love the pinball content. I've only played the Pro and love the speed of the game. The Insider Connected achievements make the game more fun.
    Stern loves bending metal. The leaf switch for the action button on my JP 30th LE wasn't working and after reseating everything, they had me bending all sorts of things. Once we finished all the bending exercises, they approved a replacement and a week later I was up and running without issue.

    PDubs,
    You know, something about this video made me think differently when I considered commenting. At first I thought it the perfect opportunity to give you how I'd approach the situation, or my direct feelings, especially given the product's high price tag. But that's not really the point your trying to make, at least from what I can tell. The message here is more than price, or the normalcy maintenance that comes with owing real Pinball Machines. Sure, that stuff's in here, but what I heard most was your actual joy of owning it. You took the time to make things right for yourself, simply because the machine is worth it. I hope that message doesn't escape others who watch this video.
    I think your Venom pinball looks AMAZING and I'm looking forward to the full review!

    Very Interesting stuff, definitly a cool mech almost like Avengers. No matter the pinball company... there will always be maintenance and adjusting needed. Very surprised that the table doesnt go through a ball search or something to get that mech moving instead of needing to remove the glass.

    Bummer you had a problem. I think the “bash” toys and mechs that get bashed are often the points of failure, like you said. My friend has a Lord of the Rings, and the Balrog was the trouble mech for him 20 years ago. On my Foo Fighters, the overlord design seems somewhat robust, luckily. Ball impacts have misaligned the stand up targets on either side, but those can be realigned. I have destroyed a few Titan post covers near the van ramp. So many bricked shots... I had a failed coil stop on my upper flipper. Stern took care of it. Kyle in the service dept. was great. My game is around 1700 games and going pretty good, in general…. Good luck getting it reliable!

    I also have a Venom. To me it seems like your 180 is coming down more than it should. From the vid it looks like the wire form is being pushed down some by the mech when in 180 position. Mine does not move at all when the 180 comes down. Possibly adjusting the starting position just a bit might help with the problem. Also, very jealous you have the plastic protector kit on yours. I’ve been waiting and waiting for stern to get them out to the owners.

      @@PDubsArcadeLoft If you got it from OC Pinball in socal I'd recommend checking out Captain's in anaheim before buying your next pin. I had multiple guys in the hobby locally steer me away from OC Pinball. Not too long ago they were trying to sell a brand new Foo Fighter LE for 4k over MSRP on their website... as a dealer. That sealed the deal for me to avoid doing business with them. Glad you got your mech fixed especially with that being a big feature on a premium

    I was playing this at the local arcade eventually it knocked the two screws that held the front of the bell tower on. One of the screws ended up going down the mechanism and the technician never did find either of screws. He ended up going to the hardware store to get two new screws to fix it. About an hour after he fixed it the mechanism broke again, so good luck with that one.

    Something else to keep an eye on that i ran into on location. If you get an airball while the ramp is in the highest position and the ball gets caught on the "wide bell tower" shot ball search won't reverse the motion backwards and it will pinch the ball. I asked the operator about it and he said its been happening a couple of times a day. Now they might have and update down the road to fix it but as of early december it was a problem.

    • @redrum3r
      @redrum3r 8 месяцев назад +1

      you can tell from the video there is a clear plastic on the front of the bell tower that would block this issue. My area has a premium on location with an early october production date and that plastic wasn't included. It's a huge pain to clear. The bell tower itself is also pretty loose and the ramp moving often times clips the roof.
