I saw Roger and The Floyd perform this on Feb 12, 1980 in LA, what an experience. Bought two tickets from a fellow airman for $50 and after getting to the Coliseum, people offered as much as $600 for each ticket. So glad I did not take the cash! Thanks, Roger for all the stirring lyrics you have written and performed!
Why i wasn't born earlier. Today music sucks. Seen roger and david in argentina when i could. But seen this must been outstanding

I saw them at Nassau Coliseum.
I know that it is impossible to beat any of Gilmour’s guitar solos in Floyd’s songs, but this one by Snowy White must belong up there too.
Clapton did a guitar solo on this tune, but it's not as good as Snowy performance
This solo from Snowy is right up there in my top whatever solos of all time.. I'm a huge fan of Gilmours but this one hits every mark perfectly.. I just have to listen to it every once in a while, it's just perfection

I still remember listening to this album on a Navy base in Pensacola FL. We were all pretty buzzed, split a joint on the roof and I can remember my reaction when I first heard "Surprise, surprise, surprise"

It's truly interesting if the Floyd originally had an idea for the drums and the guitar solo to be included in their studio version. I can only speculate they did or at least Roger had this idea, but a ballad in the same vein as Hey You and Comfortably Numb would've been too much for the second half of the album.

@@Oh_I_Willrobably the album would've been too long otherwise. They chopped a verse from The Show Must Go On (even though it's in the lyric sheet) and left out What Shall We Do Now? and possible one other tune but I can't remember right now. Vinyl can only hold so much space.
