This might honestly be the best episode of tv ever made. The crazy thing is watching the show back there’s hints of this coming. Just brilliant writing.
My perfect timing! I literally just came from watching your "Sweet Dee's Dating a R Person" Reaction, Episode 3x9, (and you guys made me laugh during the scene when Sweet Dee, breaks up with Lil Kev!) I wanted to see your reaction to the musical, and you *just* posted it, yay me. ❤😂👌🏾
The Gang when focused really pull off some magic. And Charlie being able to write a whole musical being illiterate is quite amazing. Then he created the music w/o any formal training. Directs and pulls in a FULL crowd to watch his creation. It's absolutely bonkers when you think about the steps to get there. It's literally his first doing this and he hits a home run. The crowd enjoyed the play! Charlie if he wasn't so messed up could've been so much more.
Up to this point in the show, I think the only hint or reference as to who the Nightman or the Troll would be is in the episode when Charlie is huffing paint and comes up with the Dayman song (along with Dennis). Before Dennis walks in, Charlie sings something about the Nightman taking his "sexy hands away from me". Also, I don't think an Antonio is ever mentioned in the show. Fun fact: As someone else pointed out in the comment just before this, they actually did a live tour and performance of the show (which included additional songs not seen in the video). At the end of the performance when Charlie proposed to the waitress (his actual wife who is sitting in the front row), the crowd would actually get angry and boo at her! If you are ever bored, you should listen/watch the podcast for this episode. They brought in Lin-Manuel Miranda because he's a fan of the show and those episodes. ruclips.net/video/qAWsEbWm0ds/видео.html
You already have the information to know who the characters are. Charlie's mom rented out his room to his uncle. She collected the toll. The uncle was the Nightman, and of course, the princess who lives in a coffee shop is the Waitress. I read the musical less as an allegory than as how Charlie deals indirectly with his childhood trauma. So, Charlie is the only one who doesn't pick up on the obvious subtext.
I agree that the hype/love for this episode tends to be more than it deserves (in my personal taste). I know this definitely isn't in my top 20, and probably not top 30 either
So funny thing my name is Damon -day-mon but all my teachers pronounce it wrong, like daiman so now I am like dayman fighter of the nightman, but some people don’t watch this show so they don’t get the joke 🤣🤣😅😅🫶🏼
btw. The gang actually toured and performed The Nightman Cometh at select theaters.
haha, I saw a youtube vid popup with one of their performances. Hilarious.
@@PhilipManzano Yeah, the full show with all the songs are on youtube. It's pretty great.
@@rowaystarco With Mac's Nightman song...
Not every theater?
Your faces hearing Frank sing his song for the first time is my new favorite thing.
hahah
Phils face watching Charlie descend from the ceiling was just perfect.
This is the episode i showed both my brothers seperately who never saw or knew what the show was about...to get them into it.
They got into it. 😂
This is the first ep I saw too. My friends showed this and I have been hooked ever since.
Erika's reaction to the opening 🤣 One of us! One of us! 😂
One of the best & most original episodes in the series imo lol and you’ll learn more about the story going forward

I didnt read which episode this was and once I heard Charlie singing I got so happy
I think "No, Antonio" is a lesser used phrase like "No Way, Jose" from the 90s/00s, not a reference to an actual character.
haha ohhh -- that makes more sense. Never heard that one.

High school reunion part two. The gang's greatest performance (even if it was imaginary)
got to pay the troll toll

NIGHTMAN!!!
Pretty sure Charlie Day writes most of the songs too.
haha amazing.
I'm going to use Charlie's song when I propose to my future wife. 'Come on stage and join me! In this thing called matrimony!' It actually goes hard
😂
Let’s goooo!!!!
What is happening??
Classic!!!!
Let me know if y'all do Buffy The Vampire Slayer so that I may Subscribe!👌🏾Great job😂❤️👍🏾
As funny and as much lile this episode, kinda ugh about the fandom with this episode.
Why because people think it’s one of the best eps?
@ nah, but it gets close to the annoying level
i mean, i dont think its unequivocally the best episode of the show or anything like some people seem to think.
its damned good though and hilarious
You're looking at this through the wrong lense. May I suggest popping in cat eyes?

You are correct that you'll eventually piece together who the troll and nightman are! horrified_lol.gif
