I know people have already mentioned the well-known fan theory that Charlie is the baby boy, Uncle Jack is the Night Man, and the troll is Charlie’s mum (with the rent Jack payed being the ‘toll’), but my favourite extension is that it’s actually Mac that is the Day Man (hence why Charlie wanted him to play that character, and because in Charlie’s eyes he is ‘the master of karate and friendship’). So as a silver lining to this very dark analogy, it was actually Charlie’s childhood friendship with Mac that helped him cope with and overcome everything that had happened.
I never heard of that, that’s really cool theory and I think that makes a lot of sense. I knew the baby boy is Charlie and uncle Jack is the night man but I never made the the connection that possibly The troll is his mom and the Dayman is Mac.
Nobody calls Mac out for not knowing anything about karate more than Charlie though. I think he just likes Mac more than Dennis haha

Let me tell you something, This show hasn’t even begun to peak. And when it does peak, you'll know. Because it’s gonna peak so hard that everybody in Philadelphia's gonna feel it.

Truly legendary episode. They actually went on some live gigs doing the Nightman show btw.
On the DVD box set for this season, they have an entire live performance of it. Dunno if those are available on the streaming services...

The truth is there is no peak. Even the seasons that are viewed as “lesser quality” by hardcore fans still have some incredible episodes in them. Some of my favorite episodes happen in season 13 and 14.
They actually performed a live performance of this at Comic-Con. One year. Whole cast. Full outfits and songs 😂
The “dude do you have a boner right now” had me howling laughing when I first saw this episode. Comes out of nowhere 😂

I don't know if anybody told you the popular fan theory of Dayman, but the little boy (Charlie), nightman (Uncke Jack), and the troll (Charlie's mom). I am sure you can figure out the story from there.
i LOVE how much you enjoyed this episode. i seen too many reactors find the entire thing cringe (which it is, but that keeps them from enjoying it). you guys saw this episode for the ridiculous nonsense it is and i could tell you had fun with this one. it's a very beloved episode to lots of it's always sunny fans. the gang used to perform it live when they'd do meet and greets. as goofy as this epiosde is, you can see how talented they all are. i mean, glenn literally went to juliard and trained there. they all can sing and know instruments and can both film act and theater act which isn't always the easiest thing to switch between. i just love it so much!
This was the first episode I ever saw. Some friends said the new episode of Sunny was airing, I had never heard of it. I watched it with them and the next day went and bought season 1-3 on DVD. Been hooked ever since!
Recently on their podcast the gang said they didn’t feel like they really started to find the show until season 4.
This show never peaks. It has it's ups and downs and some episodes and entire seasons don't have the same punch as others, but for the most part it's a plateau of good (and often great) quality. There really is no peak.
Season 5 is where the show really comes into its own, and aside from a few weak episodes, its just top tier entertainment. Well, 13 had some behind the scenes issues that reflect in the latter half, but other than that.
In everybody's top 5. If it isn't, I don't trust them 😅

I think the PEAK of the show is somewhere around 7-12 ish, but the show is still great season 16 episode 1 came out this week and it was good
I think the peak is in the season 7
It’s weird because I think season 7 is the best season, but also has the one of if not the worst episode of the show lol
Season 7 is definitely one of the best based on how many good episodes are packed into it, but personally, I don't think it's fair to call it "peak". As much as I adore season 7, some of my all-time favorite episodes (The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award, and Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs, for instance) are in the later seasons.

Season 12 was probably the last banger season, for sure. But if "peak" can be considered somewhere between season 5 and season 12, then that's pretty amazing!
Widely regarded as the best episode… not in my opinion. But that‘s just because there is so many great ones more to come. Season 5 especially is fucking great :)
My favorite season is season 7, but I know people whose favorite is season 9 or 12, so I'd say the show peaked from 5-12, but it's still to this day really really good
My personal favorite season is S7, although I'd say the show's peak is S3-S9. S13 is pretty uneven, but the last few episodes of it are up there with some of the best of the show.

And I like that low expectation thing you mentioned at the beggining, and I think is good to go with not low, but without high expectations. I went to see Better Call Saul without any good thing on mind, and man the way that show hit me, one of my favourites series of all time!

I am not super familiar with the later seasons. Not sure if I've seen anything past season 10, but 5 is my favorite and 6 is probably my second favorite. They are peak sunny, imo

Fun fact: People have actually used Charlie's wedding proposal in real life.
If you have not seen it there are several videos of young kids quoirs singing songs from dayman, they are mostly from foreign countries so I'm not sure if the teachers fully understood the meaning behind the song but it's hilarious

I thought the r2pe scene came out nice, Charlie.
In my opinion seasons 7 through 12 are peak sunny, soore of a plateau than a peak. The show steadily gets better until 7, then I like season 13, season 14 is one of the weakest in my opinion but some people like it. And I liked 15.
I think we have to be very careful about how we do the rape scene

Honestly peak is probably S10... not sure it is the peak in terms of overall consistent quality, but it has two, if not three, of the top episodes in the entire show. That being said, season 4 is also a really good one and I think the first one where they really settled-in and hit their stride. Enjoy the ride!

Unpopular opinion - It's a good episode, but I think it's overrated. It might not even be top 30 all time for me.
there is an argument for that but Charlie pissed off at everyone is pretty funny so idk. "Song or no Song"
Yeah I’ll take almost any episode from season 6 or 7 (NOT 7x5 though) over this one for sure, then one of the best episodes of the series is in season 11, so I’d say your probably pretty accurate with about 30 episodes being better.
I do love this episode, but agree that it's not even a top 20 for me. Too many better episodes! Part of that is probably because I feel like the lead up to the performance is way more hilarious than the show itself ("You guys have me here!", Dennis eating because he's very uncomfortable, Boy's hole or boy's soul, and wonderful Gladys). So, maybe it's not that unpopular of an opinion!
You know how it is.. it contains music and singing. And for some reason the average person is hard wired to consider anything that contains singing to be better than anything that does not (the only thing that compares is extreme tragedy). It's just like the most highly regarded episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They sing the whole episode, so therefore it's the favorite.
