It’s not really abstract or insane? He basically knocked on the wrong door, and being Danny Devito they were of course happy to see him and invited him in for a minute lol. I mean it’s definitely unusual but not exactly insane.
I've waited 60 episode to see Danny on here. He is the guest I wanted to see more than anybody who's been involved with the show. He didn't disappoint.
Damn it, Danny’s 78! In my head he’s perpetually 50. From Taxi till now. He has an incredibly illustrious career but he shows us time and time again, he’s not done showing us something new. I hope he lives to be 120!
My Calabrese GreatGrandFather got shot in the chest and mustard gassed in WW1. He lived to be 102 without any mental-slippage until the last couple of years. It’s crazy to think that Danny DeVito has at least 20 more years of acting left. No exaggeration.
1:19:21 I'm a pianist and the fact that Danny somehow found his way to ending on pretty much an F 6/9 chord (a beautiful and very popular chord quality in jazz, also often used to end a tune) is fucking hilarious
Imagine being a newly Wed couple around the holiday season, and out of nowhere Danny DeVito knocks on your door wondering where the gang is so they can do another podcast.
THE PURE JOY on Danny’s face watching himself emerge from the couch is even funnier than the scene on its own. @J R I'm not sure what Danny DeVito did for the cast. But he and his wife, Rhea Perlman, took care of Mara Wilson while her mother was in the hospital with cancer. He showed Suzie a cut of the movie just before she died because the movie was months away from being released.
@@Pattonator14 You can just Google it, it's a well documented story. Danny and Rhea supported her through a brutal childhood. He should have won Best Director for that film, it was one of my favorites as a kid, and I've seen it since and it holds up. Great camera work, great acting, wonderful classic story from Roald Dahl.

Danny is such a jewel and we're so lucky to be alive to experience this show and to experience these decades of success of Mr DeVito. Everything he touches is gold, Thank you Danny for a life time of entertainment
Every interview I have seen with Danny has shown that he is extremely well versed in Sunny lore and clearly enjoys making it. You almost never see that in the industry

It is remarkable how much pathos Danny is able to provide in that scene with the therapist. so funny and so emotional at the same time. Very few can do that
Rob saying "there's a voice i grew up with" really hit the nail on the head. Danny has been in tv shows, movies, and voiced countless characters from my childhood, into my adolescences, and now in my adulthood. Not many actors you can say that about.
@@stephaniecoomey2356 okay steph, he's a father / grandfather figure to so many people (not the character but the actor) but apparently what he said was "too much"

I don’t think you could ever get tired of listening to that man speak. Just a wealth of knowledge and stories and humorous anecdotes
Its always Sunny is like the sitcom equivalent of a great band who kept to their guns, never sold out, gained a cult following and are stll releasing total bangers.
I love Charlie's little dance as Danny is hugging Rob. The love for Danny is so real! They're so happy to have him on as are we!! Great ep! Definitely needs to come back!
Let’s all just cherish the fact that we’re all here to witness Danny in our lifetime. An absolute legend that makes me personally feel a sense of comfort every time I see or hear him speak. Truly unreal!
I love that they let Danny just go and tell his stories. Thanks to Megan and the boys for getting this unique, charming and interesting man onto the podcast. One for the ages.
Wow Danny's memory is astounding. He remembers these stories from decades ago in such detail and even drops specific numbers and dates and names, meanwhile I forget the names of people I worked with a year ago.
It is impossible to find that DeVito SNL monologue on RUclips. I had to go to Peacock to see it, but it was worth it! It was just as emotional as Danny described it. If you're looking for it, it's SNL Season 7, episode 19 - May 15, 1982.
Danny is like your grandpa where you ask him one question and he talks for 20 minutes and by the end you’re not sure how he got to where he was but you enjoyed it
Its amazing to see how excited and passionate Danny is about Sunny because it shows how highly he regards his castmates and vice versa. When he talks about staying resilent and continuing to push when ratings or viewership is not there yet, it shows the importance of courgage and conviction. Best show and spectacular group of gentlemen.
I love seeing him getting excited for ideas for the show. His passion really does show through brightly. The guy clearly loves Sunny and his cast mates.
What’s incredible is how much he really fell into the gang - like at first it felt like, “this is weird”, and now I cannot fathom sunny without Frank and I couldn’t love the duo of Frank and Charlie more if I tried - they’re so perfect together I love them ❤
Hearing about Danny’s relatives was actually really cool. So many older American immigrants brought really cool cultures with them that became lost in a couple generations 7:04 It’s awesome to hear about native languages
44:15 It's like Charlie said Danny just intuitively knows what will work. He knows the fans wanted them to go deeper and it paid off massively. The pathos is what draws people and characters like Cricket or Bill Ponderosa reinforce this level of realism. It's almost like there are real life repercussions. It's played straight to the comedic backdrop I think that's why it works so well. These people are suffering but are a C plot in the show. It almost mirrors how people in real life ignore the tragic circumstance of people around them. Not to get too deep with it but I think that's why it feels right.
danny was an executive producer on pulp fiction, he actually made a deal for whatever Tarantino's next movie would be after talking to him briefly. just so happened to be pulp fiction. absolute legend
I think what I love most about Always Sunny is the fact that they write these filthy, vile characters who do deranged, hilarious stuff, but whenever we see them offscreen they're such sweet guys. Rob clearly adores Kaitlin, Danny is so caring, it's just so lovely to see.
My favorite Frank moment was in Frank's Little Beauties when he tries to make up the song in the back office about not diddling kids. The song was great but him huffing and puffing afterward and saying he has a headache was just comedic gold. He give so much nuance to his characters and that is what makes him so funny, throughout his entire career. Throw Momma From the Train and Death to Smoochy are absolute treasures that he absolutely nails the performance.
thought i was the only one who remembered death to smoochy. anyone i've brought that up to has always given me a weird look and never knew about it lol
Mine too, fella. So many genuine 10/10 Frank moments, but that song, the anxiety within the delivery of it, the lyrics and the state of his nose is in my top 2 comedy scenes ever. If anyones interested my other favourite comedy scene is Rimmer from Red Dwarf in Demons and Angels where he walks down the stairs and says 'looking for someone...'
right off the bat. the fact danny thought this all might of been a prank is timelessly adorable. we are so lucky to have the gift of Mr DeVito. He is the GOAT and always will be. His "Penguin roll" is so good its messed up that he is a human and not a perfect animated robot who just happens to act like a demon. give him a big hug from all us. He lives forever no matter what.
Gheg is one of the two main albanian dialects, Gheg and Tosk. Crazy to hear danny devito complimenting the language. Props to Danny. Albanian is like armenian and greek where its an independent branch with no known connecting languages so it sounds very unique compared to other Indo-European languages. That seems fairly straightforward 2 me

My Calabrese GreatGrandFather got shot in the chest and mustard gassed in WW1. He lived to be 102 without any mental-slippage until the last couple of years. It’s crazy to think that Danny DeVito has at least 20 more years of acting left. No exaggeration.

Danny DeVito is a national treasure. I've loved him since Matilda when I heard what he did for the cast.
What did he do
@J R I'm not sure what Danny DeVito did for the cast. But he and his wife, Rhea Perlman, took care of Mara Wilson while her mother was in the hospital with cancer. He showed Suzie a cut of the movie just before she died because the movie was months away from being released.

Wow Danny's memory is astounding. He remembers these stories from decades ago in such detail and even drops specific numbers and dates and names, meanwhile I forget the names of people I worked with a year ago.
The cold opening of Frank dangling on the noose while the gang proceeds to not give a crap is the funniest thing I've ever seen on TV.

I met Danny about 15 years ago at a theater I worked at in Hollywood. Before I got into watching Always Sunny. He was a fantastic guy. Very friendly.
Its amazing to see how excited and passionate Danny is about Sunny because it shows how highly he regards his castmates and vice versa. When he talks about staying resilent and continuing to push when ratings or viewership is not there yet, it shows the importance of courgage and conviction. What’s incredible is how much he really fell into the gang - like at first it felt like, “this is weird”, and now I cannot fathom sunny without Frank and I couldn’t love the duo of Frank and Charlie more if I tried - they’re so perfect together I love them ❤

My favorite Frank moment was in Frank's Little Beauties when he tries to make up the song in the back office about not diddling kids. The song was great but him huffing and puffing afterward and saying he has a headache was just comedic gold. Mine too, fella. So many genuine 10/10 Frank moments, but that song, the anxiety within the delivery of it, the lyrics and the state of his nose is in my top 2 comedy scenes ever.
