The fellow with the sword is a real gentleman, quite the story saving it from being tossed in a landfill too. Nice upload.
They’re not smart.. they need to type the history up and have this man sign it including paul. It’s too long to keep repeating in the future
don't be rude@@DJRoyalEdo
My grandfather was a kid during WW2. He lived about a mile / mile and a half from a scrap yard. He would always talk about sneaking into the scrap yard and sitting in plane cockpits and imagine playing with the guns. He said there were always swords and pistols / rifles, and medals throughout the yard. I can't image all the things that are just gone now. Im lucky enough to own a small collection of ww1/ww2 items. Some pieces, some people hate, some they love. To me it is all a part of the history of the world and needs to be saved.

@@tonysevilla3187awesome! I figured it would be perfect for a scary movie or something like that too
Who's the Jewish guy on Peter's shirt?
"I got a hundred and fifty bucks into that chair"! Pete, that's your problem, it works both ways.
The great part about it working both ways is that if he doesn't want to sell it for a certain price, he doesn't have to. That also goes both ways.
Totally agree with you, I would be like yea you paid that but it knocks value after a while 💀🥺
crazy price to pay for something so ugly, with a nasty stain where the but goes!
The wooden toy you pull out at 16:26, my grand parents had several toys like that, you don't pull the string instead move the toy around in a circle and that causes the ball to swing around, and that makes the toy animate!
I started watching you videos since last week, what a rabbit hole... Greetings from Belgium.
I feel this
The rabbit hole gets bigger after few months 😄 🇦🇺
Really cool to see the full story of the sword. Hopefully it really is legit and someone will one day get it restored and authenticated. Pretty crazy to think that these swords were so masterfully crafted that they survive (and are still sharp) nearly 400 years later.
@justinloveday2410 The fact the the bottom part fell off would indicate it's not good quality. That stuff is faked all the time. I would bet on it not being real.
@@AcidOllie it was literally thrown in a dumpster without any care or consideration.... I don't think the kojiri having fallen off by this treatment is any real indication of its authenticity, it's a wonder the saya is in as good a condition as it is, and not cracked or broken. Glen, first time on the Internet?
It's great that places like this still exist in this day and age, when so many people are ordering disposable garbage online and newer generations might not even know what bartering is. I need to get away from LA this year and go on a motorcycle road trip, and need a destination. Maybe it'll be Crystal Lake Trading Post.
i hope that sword ends up in a museum some day..those katanas are so hard and expensive to come by nowadays..awesome deal and even more awesome customer. what a find!
So many of these swords were melted down after WwII lost forever.
@@lucky19teasmost were lost way earlier, during the meiji Restauration in the 1850s. Samurai were basically abolished and lost all their standing, and katanas became meaningless
No way would I have pawned that. No damn way.
Cool story with the sword, no sure if you've done this before but maybe make a video of the top 5-10 items that are the oldest/coolest you've had in the store.
Really enjoy the customer interaction, you always treat people fairly! The sword is exciting, please keep us in the loop about it! God's Blessings on You and Your Family and Business!😊
That's awesome! I also own a katana by the same smith, Yukihiro 1st generation or 'Ichi' as you mentioned, and Hizen is the province he is from, which has become what is now known as the Nagasaki Prefecture. I had it imported from Japan last year from a well known dealer. I paid about $8000 for it. Getting a katana properly polished again costs about $150/inch of the blade + shipping costs. I keep mine properly oiled so hopefully I never have to worry about that!
Any pics ?...i smell 💩

“I originally paid like $150 for this chair” 😂😂 If you go back to the original video where you purchased the chair in March 2019 you said you paid $60 for it. Then you rented it twice for $45 total so all you are in it is $15 not $100. When you said “I’m not really making any money” by selling for $90 you just made $75 profit.
Can't remember his own b.s. lol

part of his communication techniques in swaying the customer. he says that stuff all the time lool
LOL good catch. notice how he says a few dollars at 4:50. $45 is now a few dollars hahaha
also, if pete says he paid x amount for something, that's probably inflated as well. probably paid less than 60 for it too LOL
The story of that sword is amazing! To save that much history! Would love to see it fully curated would be special!
I was so hooked on the continuation of the sword from the previous video that I had to watch this to see the reveal. So cool that it turned out to be potentially 300+ years old.
I can’t get over Kevin no bread and gray hair!🤗🤗🤗Thanks Peter! Watch all the time🤗

When I first started watching Pete, he was digging through dumpsters and even had the cops called on him. Hard to believe it was that long ago. Was looking forward to hearing more about that sword. Very cool!
Me too. Man, those were the days!
The seller listened to everything he said and didnt interrupt him, well done sir
Wow, what an amazing piece that sword is. It makes you wonder just who has owned it through that amount of time. And the seller was such a nice guy too. Very cool.

Definitely worth sending in to be authenticated and restored. I am an avid sword collector and once restored and authenticated, depending on the samurai it could fetch between 10-20 thousand dollars. If you won't I will buy it and go through the whole process and make me a nice huge profit

Kevin has extra fast facial growth! 😂
That is a legit piece of treasure hopefully the man who produced this sword can be found and I would love to see their faces when they saw their family member from 400 years ago amazing work.
From the little I know about these swords the blades were passed down through the families and after WW2 many were forced to hand them in to be destroyed. The better ones were sometimes taken a souvenirs by American troops and sent home. Thats probably were this one came from. Super cool piece..
I really enjoy your channel. Your patience and personality is really good for TV. You need your own show.
I think you gonna do really well on that sword, Collectors love old authentic Japanese Katana's!

after watching pawnstars for years when he said 400 years sword, in my head 1000$ offer, worth 40k$ 😆
Yeah ,Pete is going to make a killing might be able to pay that cottage off up north.
Buying that sword for $750 and a few t-shirts is criminal.
Exactly.
i thought 1500 as is was a tad low as non com mass produced ww2 swords are 5-700 now i was thinking more like 2 and offer 1k.. At the end of the day seller agreed to it and was happy. IF i was the seller ide have asked for 1k tho.
You mean very generous. Someone here said it's not even real.

Binge watching your channel , this was my favourite video so far. The samurai sword at the end , what an awesome find. Especially listening to the history. Greetings from the UK.
I would never send anything valuable off to be fixed, appraised, anything! You may never see it again!!! Even taking jewelry in to be fixed is risky (the Kay jewelers scandal).

What an awesome piece!!! I've always wanted a real samurai sword after playing so many samurai videogames like Nioh, Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima.
I like how you are always honest and upfront. Many places would be like "aww yeah sorry it is just not worth anything" while thinking (holy shit i am gonna make moneyyyyyyyyyyy)
Seems like you sell very fairly too, that guitar for $60 I would love to have it but i am in ENgland so...

Not really just so hard to sell on Amazon without help
You mentioned learning new things all the time, especially when it came to the sword, I do have to say that I need to show this to a friend of mine. His late father was in WWII and brought home two swords from Japan because they were copying the Chinese swords. After watching this it is definitely something I am going to have my friend check out, would never have given it a second thought since they were knock offs so to speak...and currently they are just sitting in a closet.
I'm really interested how the sword turns out. Keep us updated please!
I would love to visit the store and really look around in all the rooms

Glad to see a pawn broker never saying "i gotta get it framed" and everything is a "holy grail"😅😅😅😅😅
The wheelchair gives me "Red Dragon" vibes 😂😂
Fascinating sword story👍. Kevin looked better with a beard imo 😊
If the katana has a well-preserved original polish with a desirable patina, repolishing might remove the historical value and aesthetic qualities.
Not the case, that logic only applies to American and European weaponry. For reasons I don't fully understand myself, Katanas are most desirable when they are in polish by a reputable polisher in Japan. The more recent and well maintained the polish, the higher the value. The history is in the signature on the tang, and that is the only thing that must be allowed to develop black rust / patina, because it allows one to identify the blade
Awesome pickup, I'd be curious to learn about some of the other items that have come through the shop that you consider top pieces...whether already sold or still there.
Wow amazing last 2 episodes. Very interesting
Incredible that someone was just going to throw that sword in the trash all those years ago.
Baby Nike…so cute.

That was awesome video. I would like to hear more about it. Oh and G is good and that’s good that you learn every day stuff like that it’s hard to get in your shop.

Man finding that sword in a dumpster would absolutely make my day. I have a goal of traveling to Japan on day. And while I’m there I will buy a sword like this. Probably a little newer but still pre war. Absolutely a dream find especially it being fairly old. Very cool find Peter!!!
Problem is you can't. You can buy a replica but they are forbidden (by their laws) to sell the antique armor, swords / tsubas even writing implements from the feudal era to non Japanese. I was able to get a very good replica when I visited about 7 years ago from Japan Sword Co. in Tokyo. At the time it was $1000 USD, but since their currency has nosedived you can get a katana and wakizashi for about $700 including import fees and shipping to the US. They also sell armor replicas.
@@215Daniel- @215Daniel actually this is a myth. It is allowed to purchase antique swords as long and have them leave the country as long as the company applies for export permit. This is normal . Two of the vendors that do a lot of overseas sales are Unique Japan and Aoi Art . I have purchased items from both companies and had them ship to the USA
Thank you.
Please, please, please do a follow up viedo on the katana if someone does authentic it! I hope they do!
