I like the DJI a tad better in the end. Up close to the rocks and coral there’s a green hue to the picture but in all the deeper pictures the contrast is superior in DJI. The reef bottom is much more clear in the DJI from farther out. I also appreciated the wider picture captured on the DJI. Thanks for the video!

The reef bottom clarity up close with the DJI was amazing.
      He has a tough decision
Neither camera was perfect for all scnerios
But in the end, if you’re not watching side by side cameras but just one, either will be fine imho

Thank you for this video, I’ve been searching for a true underwater comparison and you did a great job. I favor the DJI by a hair. I wasn’t there to verify colors, but they seemed more natural to me on the DJI than the GoPro at all depths. On my iPad I can’t see any difference in sharpness and not enough in dynamic range to worry about. Thanks again, best wishes.

Hey I just want to start by saying I’m a huge fan and I love the videos. I miss my home state of Florida and can’t wait to move back now that my wife and I are out of the military. Your videos are the perfect blend of informative and entertaining and I thank you for it. You have sparked a desire to start free diving in me that I can’t shake off lol. Thank you for everything you do. And as far as this video goes I think over all I’m gonna have to give it to the DJI. You seem to get more field of view in the footage and the color grading seems more accurate to what you actually see and almost has a movie quality to it. I think the DJI is better suited to your film style and would help set you videos apart from the other content creators out there. It would be nice to see how it preforms in dirty water and the mangroves side by side like shown here to be sure it’s best suited for where you film the most. Thank you for always making my days better and happy holidays.

Man, what a great comparison video! I use go pros myself and was a little biased starting the video. I’ve got to say the DGI was really impressive. At the end of the video I couldn’t say which I like more! I would say for you, as much video as you shoot, ease of use would be my deciding factor. Both cameras preformed exceptionally well. Thank you for another great video!

GoPro for sure, i like the color correcting feature. I have an older GoPro and run a magenta filter to correct the green effect that comes from losing red from being underwater especially in the northeast. The downside is that it’s really noticeable on the surface and in shallow water but once you hit 30ft or so it clears up.

The GoPro appears to be better as the DJI has a green tint to the color. That being said the DJI had a bit more contrast in some footage. I would think there are adjustments on both to dial in the colors. I know the GoPro has some more advanced features for shooting video out of the water for those using it as a multi-purpose. Like you said they both provide very good footage so a difficult choice. Personally I would go for the GoPro for now unless DJI provides some color adjustment or had a firmware update for color correction IMO. Loved the hammerhead footage and the dive footage!

Hi Aaron. The GoPro is better. If the size bothers you, get the Mini. I think you confused color temperature or white balance with the thermal temperature. When you use auto white balance, the camera uses an algorithm to decide what adjustments it needs to make to create a balanced image (not too green or pink, not too warm/yellow or cool/blue). The algorithms in the newer cameras got better at setting the white balance automatically underwater. Underwater white balance is challenging because the water blocks the red wavelengths of light. The deeper you go, the less red you have, so the camera has to add a lot of red and magenta to compensate. The GoPro sometimes looks pink/red for a few seconds when you come back to the surface, because it adjusts the white balance more gradually than the Dji (slower WB adjustement is preferrable, less jarring). Professional videographers set the white blance manually using a grey card and or shoot in raw to get a perfectly balanced image. You can also improve the color of your videos by color correcting in post (I know you are busy, this takes time and practice to learn and perform every time). The blocky pixelation on some of the Dji clips is compression artefact. The GoPro does a much better job at preserving information on busy scenes. Make sure to turn High bitrate and 10-Bit color on in the Protune settings. You can also download the GoPro Labs firmware to get even higher bitrates on the GoPro

I really enjoyed the shark footage and thought it was really cool. As for the cameras I prefer the wider field of view and higher color rendering of the DJI but I think it almost needs color grading to reach its full potential. If you do decide to go with the DJI I would look into setting the color temperature manually and that should let you get rid of the green tones you are seeing. At least I think it should based on my experience using DSLR cameras for photography.

Color correction and enhancements can easily be made during editing but you can’t fix graininess. I say unwillingly because how can I trust a company I’ve used for years who knowingly released a poor product. You did great going with the GoPro11. Overall I think the DJI is slightly better with the one exception on the green hue , I think that either cameras preformes well enough to make great content for RUclips. Thanks for the great videos and all the knowledge that you pass to us fellow spearfishermen !

I think I preferred the DJI. I liked the wider field of view, and the colors at shallows depths. Whatever you choose will be amazing though.

Gday from west Australia KWW, long time watcher first time commenting, love the content it’s fantastic so thank you! My preference is the GP, the green tint of the DJI is a little dull. Keep it up and good luck, see you in KW soon!

Gopro hands down, but i use my DJI for lots of timelapses, Using photo-timelapse- color grade Photoshop - Edit, Adobe Premier Pro, also DJI Action, and shooting in manual mode, helps with good ND filter. But doing deep drops you wouldn't want to be in manual mode. But the clarity on the bottom, the footage from the Gopro looks great and in other shots the dji has better contrast on the reef. This could be the sensor built into the camera playing catch up at low light level.
My overall take... Some images from the bottom had amazing contrast with the Dji, But the Gopro had better coloring on the fish,
But what it comes down to is the coloring of your face on the first drop, Dji was extremely green, this might be an easy fix playing with white balance setting.
    Hope this was helpful

DJI for the win! I was surprised I thought It would be a no brainer for the GoPro but the DJI color saturation was more appealing to me. Great footage as always!!

A little late to the comment reel here, but I found myself looking at the GP view more, better detail and contrast. Although I kinda liked the other view in the last dive. Loved the hammerhead shot, very cool. Enjoy your videos.

I can definitely see pros and cons on both cams, but I think I'm a bit partial to the GoPro. GoPro tends to have less UV filtering which helps out a lot in low light and under water clarity, but then has a bit of a tradeoff in bright light.

Overall I say GoPro it seemed at times the details get a little fuzzy on the DJI. But the pinkness when you seem to get closer to the surface is definitely noticeable on the GoPro. The DJI did better on that. But at the end of the day all that can be corrected in the editing of the footage. What you want is clarity a little bit of off color isn’t a big deal. Great fair comparison 👍

Go Pro for sure.... not even a question in my opinion, the color washout of the DJI was off putting when compared side by side. I do agree that if they weren't side by side both would likely be fine. But the Go Pro is more vibrant, and sharper imo. Great channel man.

I'd say take the camera that gives you the best battery life and gives you the least issues. If you took either file into a color correction software I'm pretty sure you'd have the same power.... it's really incredible how good uw video has gotten!

Dibs, I would definitely go with the GoPro brother. The DJI had some really cool shots for sure and definitely some better color shots but out of the entire video you filmed I think the GoPro was significantly better for probably 90% of it. That hammerhead was sick!! Love your channel dude and always look forward to your episodes every week. 🤙🏻

mostly just to buck the trend but I actually did like the DJI better, the contrast and depth stand out and that green tint doesn't bother me, I'm sure most people wouldn't even realize if it wasn't side by side.

Great Video both are excellent though I lean towards GoPro due to the sensor size on the GoPro Hero 11 - the 8:7 ratio gives you more vertical in the shots which is nice! I feel the contrast on the DJI was better BUT the shadows detail IMHO on the GoPro is better though flatter!

6 to 1, half a dozen to the other. I like how the DGI picks up the reef/rubble, and fish/ eel look sharper and pop. The GoPro wins the rest. Like to see DGI in the ledges w flashlight. If it flies, it’s my pick for reef excursions. Ns why, but all the fish look 5-10% larger w GoPro to me. Angle of fish eye lens? You have a winning philosophy and character regardless of camera choice. Thank you Brother!
