Not sure why the puma engine is classed as unreliable… We’ve had lots of transits with the 2.4 and 2.2 and they’re bombproof I’m going down the 200tdi route…
What’s a rough cost for a m57 swap with all the other necessary parts/extras which may include brakes, axel/diff exhaust and transmission? etc for a DIY job, as I still would like to have all the best parts from Mahkar yet still get hands on and install it myself, would this be a service that you can provide. Also keep up with the amazing videos, love watching them.
@@georgewoodcock-ej8cb unfortunately building kits are just as intensive as installing them ourselves as I can guarantee you’ll be on the phone asking what goes where 😬
It’s a fantastic engine perfect for this use loads of power. Do not know what you use if customer wants petrol but the BMW 2.8 z3 uses M52B28 inline-six which is an aluminium block and is an amazing engine.
BMW M57 pairs with what gearbox? Does it need a transfer case for 4x4? What axles can support the power of the torque the M57 puts out? What ratios for the differentials if the axles are indeed upgraded?
@itumelengmahaole5890 is this yes a verified fact? Or is it one of those answers which also start "with enough time and money, sky is the limit" :D hehe Over time I might consider doing an engine swap to my car so that it can gain another 10 years of life. Maybe even more reliable 10 years.
OM606 is fantastic, but depending where you're from, its much more expensive than M57N2. OM606 also is much noisier if you care about that. Once OM606 is tuned, it consumes more fuel than M57N2. OBVIOUSLY both engines their pros and cons.
@e.e9331 I will tell you why I'm not fond of them and that's because I spent about 3 months trying to get one of them to boost without spilling huge amounts of smoke out. I then visited a dyno run with my dirty130 two years ago to be proven by facts shown that day that not one that made good power didn't belch smoke plumes out. If the argument was what's an acceptable engine that makes 390 bhp with minimum noise and smoke, I'd put my house on the line - the M57 will win, as we've built over 30 vehicles that do.
@@_marcus_does_ yes 3 had 3 brand new ones with with out dought the most unreliable vehicles we ever had , and bt6 engines take 600hp all day long infact some have been tuned to over 1000hp as the block can take it but you need forged rods and pistons and it gets very expensive.bt6 tuning is absolutely massive in the states. I have worked professionally on Mercedes, BMW, and Land Rover. All three brands receive a bad rap for being unreliable. From my experience, this is due to incompetent owners who neglect their vehicles. I have seen vehicles from all three brands reaching well over 200,000 miles. Yes, they do cost more to maintain. No, the higher cost to maintain is no excuse to neglect maintenance.
Have you ever owned a M57? I ran one in a 2005 X5 never let me down. Used it for towing a twin axel caravan and sold it when it was 17 years old with 150000 miles on the clock, fantastic reliable engine!

I would sooner have Mahler fit the engine rather than JLR if I am honest, but I get what you mean about making it look factory 👍
Are you guys planning on selling pipe sets ready to fit ?

It would be good to know base price figures on one like Gwyn’s
M57 bolted onto the MT82.
Used set up £15,000 but no warrenty on the used engine.
Fully reconditioned start from £20,000
I think they should put this engine into range rover sports with blown lion engines
Can it be fitted to a Discovery 4?
Unfortunately not something we offer
Would that Engine FIT into a Series 3 Land Rover ? How far forward would the Radiator Panel need to go from original .
